Milan won’t make anymore signings this summer – not even in midfield as the market is ‘very closed’.
Milan have already signed five players this summer and it’s July 4th: Riccardo Montolivo, Bakaye Traore, Gabriel, Francesco Acerbi and Kevin Constant. These five signings cost Milan (roughly) 4.5M euros.
Milan are linked with moves for midfielders (Lass, Veloso) and strikers (Tevez, Destro) but CEO Adriano Galliani has reiterated that Milan have no intention of strengthening the squad, unless one leaves.
“Milan’s transfer market is closed. Or rather: it’s very closed,” Galliani told Sky Sport 24 today. “We’ve made a great effort in keeping Thiago Silva – it counts as a signing. We have 9 midfielders. Our transfer market is closed; both incoming and outgoing. Perhaps only Djamel Mesbah will leave. Our squad is complete.
“We’re talking with Torino about Mesbah. He might leave, but the rest of the player won’t be leaving Milan. If Angelo Ogbonna will be a part of the deal? No, not at al. The new Mark Van Bommel? We have already signed Riccardo Montolivo and we also have Massimo Ambrosini for that role. Ibra? He has two years left of his contract with us. He will stay at Milan. People need to thank Silvio Berlusconi for keeping Thiago Silva”.
“A salary increase for Boateng? These are private affairs. All the players at Milan already have extremely high salaries. All our players already have extremely high salaries, therefore none of the players will get a salary increase”.
