I fear that one of my favourite ever signings is going to be a footnote in our history. He will almost certainly be off in Summer. My hope was that a new manager would play him where he should be played and regularly too, but Rafa will begets next year now. So erm yeah Aquilani will only ever be seen as a failure if he isn't given a chance to play.
The list of players who Rafa has hindered at this club is probably as long as those he's improved.
Oncy, your tone initimates that we've bought quality but it's Rafa's fault he's not showing it.

That's not entirely true or fair is it?
He cant show it if he doesnt play Ryan. We already know (its clear) that Rafa doesnt rate him/trust him, so he wont play. The ONLY way he will have a career at Liverpool is if Gerrard leaves in summer or Rafa does.
Don't say things like that Oncy.

A move to Milan wouldn't make much sense though would it? Inter have a decent stranglehold in Italy. Would he even want to go there?

We need to ring Juventus and tell them how good a pair Aqua and Lucas have been looking in training. They compliment each other perfectly, what with Lucas's ability to deliver one killer pass every 52 games and Aqua's panache for bringing a frenzied crowd to it's feet with the way he slowly removes his tracky top in the 89th minute. A shoo-in for Serie A.

Who Dreamy? Lucarse or Purple Aqui?

(Or both)
Purple bought for 20m and has yet to be given and kind of run in the team worth talking about.

Lucas is just another in a long line of blind spots that have tarnished Rafa's reputation as a good manager.

I think we may be overlooking 18M we spent on a right back that isn't a right back aswell.

Rafa is making to many expensive mistakes these days.

Hmmm, not sure about that one Dreamy.

I suppose there is a "priority/ cost" argument, but I was - and still am - happy that we signed Magic, because I think he's a very good player and one of the best RBs in Europe.
I really like GJ but he's not a defender and his run of games before injury proved that. He cost to much for what he offers.

We couldn't afford another striker but we spent 18m on a right back. It was very poor judgement on Rafa's part. We have looked so much more solid since magic has been out.
I thought you we're advocating Rafa to be sacked if he payed 17 million for a right back and then not playing him there?
He should be sacked if he doesn't play him there. How can he justify playing 18m for a RB and then decide oh actually he's not that good there I'd shift him somewhere else.

Rafa really gives off the impressive that he hasn't a clue where to play some of buys. Keane, Yossi, Babel, Aquaman and Kuyt to name 5.

Tut tut Pat. I defended you in the oher thread when you said this

Bottom line GJ should be at RB or Rafa should not be at the club.
If you spunk 18m on a f*cking right back you better play him there or you should be get the boot.

Now your contradicting it by saying he is not a defender, and we're more solid without him.
No contradiction.

I don't rate GJ defensively at all on his showings for England Chelsea or for us this season. So no I wouldn't play him there but in reality I'd never have spent a massive part of our budget on a full back. 18M is f8cking huge when you consider our most expensive defender before him cost 8M. So in two summers Rafa has bought 2 full backs for a combined totall of 26M. That's f*cking crazy, considering one is one of the worst full backs I've seen for us and the other is more like a wing back come rw that a RB.

But Rafa obviously did rate him and if he did and invested that amount of our money on him he better f*cking stand by him and play week in week out at RB.

If he doesn't play him there when fit he should get the sack. And if GJ turns out to be rubbish as a RB in the long run then Rafa should also get the boot.

You can't keep spunking away 20m a summer on players that don't cut it when we are virtually broke. Something has to give and it should be Rafa.

Some are getting carried away with the whole Johnson saga. He is a cracking player. When he returns, we move Caragher into CB and Johnson RB. I have no problem Johnson playing RW from time to time but some make out that if we start him in defence we will automatically leak goals. Scare mongering is all that is. Our defence was all over the place at he start of the season and Johnson had a few poor games in t build up to his injury but I wouldnt right him off as a RB over it.

I haven't written him off either but I think a big part of our back four being so shit was him generally being very high up the pitch exposing Carra in particular.

Carra barely passes half way and leaves little or no space for players to attack in behind.

The crux of it is we needed a RB a creative CM and a striker.

We got Aquaman (20m) GJ(18m) and ??? Nobody.

And currently sitting what 7th or 6th proves what a f*ck up that was by Rafa. No fire power, no replacement for Alonso or least not one that gets given a chance ( I really feel for Purple, he hasn't gotten a proper run of games) and a RB that has had almost as many shacky games as good ones before getting injured. Not good not good at all.

Its like we had a car that needed a new cylinder head for the engine but instead we bought top of the range wheels when when standard one's would have done. We didn't need an 18m RB. a 6M would have done with a proper striker.

Don't forget Johnson has been injured for months. Let's give him a chance to get fit and get consistent run of games alongside Carragher and Agger. He has the potential to be our RB for the next 6 years or so. It's not like he is a flop waiting to happen, he is a cracking player.

Glen Johnson has played pretty much every game he's been fit for and will undoubtedly come back into the team when he's fit again. So what exactly are you on about?

Screaming from the rooftops about 'Ifs' is just ridiculous. IF Rafa starts playing Torres in goal he should be sacked! IF Rafa blows his entire transfer budget on a pigeon with a broken wing he should be sacked! See? I can do it too but what purpose does it serve?

The fact of the matter is, you don't have to invent scenarios or reasons for Rafa being sacked because there are plenty of perfectly legitimate ones already.

Between Aqua, Lucas, and Sissoko, that's one of hell of a midfielder. Note the "midfielder", as in singlular, not "midfield" as in trio.

If you had a player with the (good) characteristics of all three, you'd have... well, Gerrard? (And for about the same cost, too.)

Ha. I was more addressing the rising number of posters who are saying GJ should be picked at RW.

Agreed on the Rafa has done enough to get himself the sack now. So many fans are so blind. >🙁

It's sad to watch. When rival fans are praying you keep your manager you know its already past their time at the club or at least should be.
