The league cup has no merit or worth. Aren't you rather glad that LFC are no longer in this competition and can concentrate on the league more.
I'd rather win it to be honest.

I want us to win everything thats kinda why I support the team. Wanting us to lose is a lil bit weird

If god & Satan decided to settle their differences over a football match featuring a hell select 11 vs a man utd select 11. The winner gets the earth and a hell victory means that we would all face eternity being shafted by demons with 12 inch cocks while other demons shoved tridents in our eyes and a utd 11 victory meant that we could live in peace & harmony on earth with no more poverty, war or illness plus free internet everywhere.

Then I might, just might consider wanting utd to win.

I thought Greeks were quite partial to having 12 inch cocks up the jacksie.

I mean I know you're not Greek, but it'd be a bit like coming to Australia and not liking cricket!

I wouldn't say I was supporting them but the silver lining (if there is one) is that while Moyes continues to fuck that club up is that he will point to cup semi final as progress.

Plus they just had another injury superb!

I've raised the topic of the ancient Greek being into the man loving and the standard answer is "It was different back then". How, I can hear you ask. "It just was."

Its a win-win - Utd lose and we all get to enjoy the pleasures you describe. Is there a catch?

I have to say, I'm really shocked and surprised.

*shakes head in disbelief*

At the moment the club is nowhere near fucked - they've had a bad start, sure, but that could all still change. I don't get why some are still celebrating their cup progression (league and CL) like it brings them one step closer to their doom rather than one step closer to a trophy.

It's so odd I almost wouldn't be surprised if the next thread suggested we start celebrating progression in the league.

At this rate Moyes will end up winning a fucking treble and Liverpool fans will take to the streets in Manchester in celebration.

Stop being silly.

This is getting embarrassing now.
Lock this fucker and burn the bitch in the furnace.

I thought the original poster was better when he was advocating we sing Willian at any cost. This thread has just cost him all of his credibility AND he's trying to defend his position?

Lunacy!

No, why would we be? It's not without merit or worth at all, it's part of the reason we're so successful, because of how many times we've won it, it's part of the bread and butter of domestic football. It might be the lesser and most dispensable of the three competitions, but when we're rarely challenging realistically for the league or European Cups, it's one of only two competitions we're in with a shout of winning. It's also a platform for our younger stars to have a go. So the dismissal of it is all too arrogant on many peoples parts, it's the sort of stuff reserved for that whiskey nosed bellend. The people that generally dismiss it on here are the ones who use it as a means to ridicule managers they don't like, cf Dalglish.

So are we glad we're not in it? Of course not. Tell us that if we go whimpering out of the FA Cup. Silverware is detrimental to the club, we should be looking to win every competition we're in, because that's what we're about, the history books. The history books aren't a table of success for whoever finished 4th in the league, they tally how many trophies a club has won, something Liverpool live and breathe for.

For monetary value, CL qualification is important, for continuing the trend of being cup winners, the cups we are in are of paramount importance.

Do we want United to win? Really? Did you hear the chants towards Charlie Adam last night?

Manc.

I am happy they beat Stoke but crucially their squad has sustained another injury, that makes them overall weaker. As to this competitions value, well the top clubs decided that themselves when they started using their second XI.

This "the league cup has no value" thing is weird.

The difference between the FAC an LC is ..... What? The FAC takes longer because it has the non league teams involved too, but fundamentally they are the same. Both get you into the Europa League, both are settled at Wembley and both get you a trophy in the cabinet.

We all say the FAC is 'worth' more but in truth that is only because it gets bigged up.

A day out at Wembley, place in Europe, trophy in the cabinet and enough mullah to pay you best striker for a couple of months. They're identical under the covers.

The FA cup has history and romance attached to it and internationally renowned. The league cup was first devalued by top clubs and media. I read on wiki that the winner of the competition gets 100k. Would you want to risk injury to players such as coutinho and suarez for 100k? I wouldn't not this season at least.

But your last point is totally invalid because we're no longer in it. Ergo we're risking nothing!
