Anyone going to Kiev...

Went to Bongos Bingo for the first time tonight.

Had a surprisingly enjoyable evening.

The lad at the end won £1500 & says "I'm going to Kiev" the mc (Irish) laughs & says no chance lad.

On the way out he walks past me as the entire place is singing allez allez (seriously, everyone singing it) & I grab him. He has a ticket as he went to city & Rome away plus all home. He had a grand but no more for getting there & accommodation but couldn't do it. The £1500 obv made that possible.

He's actually going. I was made up for him. Completely bemused the in laws & the rest of the family by jumping all over each other in a homoerotic way & laughing our tits off about it.

I don't get how anyone in that situation, who was already going to Rome, who would defo qualify for tickets, didn't have some flights booked weeks ago for peanuts.

When I used to go to European aways a bit it was always on someone else's points, they carry over season on season so if you're not in the gang you don't get to be in the gang. But if you're already in the gang... I mean fucking hell. It could have cost him 150 quid a month back, all in.
 
Worth noting two things.

One, that bongos bingo is boss for people aged 32 - 45 ish. All the references & tunes are aimed at them (us in my case), my in laws enjoyed themselves but much less than the rest of us in that age range.

Two, as we left that entire place was rocking "Allez Allez". We piled into the street & they were still singing to loud & proud. The occasional bitter booed, but it was all "Allez Allez" drowning it out. My mother in law drove & parked nearby. A two minute walk & as we got to the car that's all you could hear, "Allez Allez" echoing off the buildings in the baltic triangle (warehouse style buildings with nice echoey pull down doors).

I've not seen or heard anything like this since 05. Seriously. If you can't be in Kiev, you MUST be in Liverpool for this final. The atmosphere is already incredible. 07 we didn't have this. We really didn't. This is special. This is fate. Go there, or come here. Either you need to join this party.

Exactly. I tried to have that conversation with him, basically about him being a dick for not hedging his bets after the quarters. But tbf this is a lad who when he stood with the lucky number for his ticket I said to my father in law, "This best be the easiest question ever or he's fucked" (he looked thick as fuck, like neanderthal thick). For reference, he got "what is a chipolata? " millionaire question style. Replies "fuck me, I've no idea!" fuck it, A?" which happened to be "sausage". The other choices were "dog", "peanut", "potato snack".

That's how thick this cunt was. Thick & lucky as fuck.

To explain the story behind this, the Roma game, I had a bird sitting behind me. She’s abarrr 60 and no I wouldn’t.

But anyway, every time we scored I turned round and hugged her. We got talking, swapped numbers and we are messaging since. She goes everywhere and has loads of connections. She’s just got back from Rome today and said to me she’s got her final ticket but has got 5 more to go in the ballot. If she gets one then it’s mine. Plus my 3 so I’ve got 8 going in the ballot.

Best get at least one, never mind fucking two or three.

Actually, I'm not sure there is any. I could list them on less than one finger.

Fuck I'm a whore. I actually think I'd cut off my left index finger to get to kiev.

That could be a thread actually: "How much would you be prepared to give to get to the CL final?".

You can get flights to Odessa so can cut out the bus trip. Also available from Manchester with SAS & LOT.

There are 80 minute flights from Odessa to Kiev, so you can cut out the 10 hr train if you can't face it
 
Roadtrip. Hire a minibus for SCM. Its a day drive there and a day back. Share the wheel.

When did a team from the Ukraine get to a final?
It should be in England, Germany, Italy, France or Spain.

Seriously considered driving at one point ... 30 hours non stop though! (so two days in reality)

Apparently there is at least one coach going from Liverpool ... a grim experience I expect, especially for the poor buggers on the seats by the bogs 🙂
