Anelka charged

Remember this one, i remember watching it and laughed in a wtf is he doing type of astonishment, obviously he didn't mean it but what a strange thing to do.

As I said though, I don't believe all who do it are anti-semites. A lot to do it for the same reason Anelka gave - Dieudonne is very popular on the French street (and probably only getting more popular now). Looking at pictures though - you don't see it being done in churches, or mosques, or even government buildings ('establishment' I'd say) etc ... People are getting photographed doing it in the places related to the Holocaust, or around Jews (not that Jews haven't been photographed doing it btw!)

Hitler was popular on the streets too.

Robin the rapist got away with that by saying he was brushing something off his shoulder ffs. Why didn't we come up with such inventive bollocks excuses for suarez for his little incidents? Obviously there are ways of getting off. I don't think Suarez would have got banned if he'd not admitted to saying what he did to evra.

Until now, I thought a quenelle was a kind of French cannelloni, usually containing pike!

This is all very much a French thing and I think the FA are making complete idiots of themselves getting involved and taking disciplinary action.

However, the FA made complete idiots of themselves over the Suarez show trial with its discussion of the usage of the term "negrito" in Uruguay . . . . . but they got away with it on that occasion.

It's a shape you make with a spoon, innit, hence the Masterchef ref.

As times have changed and the term has been applied to additional foods, the Quenelle has become a word associated with a shape, not an ingredient. The shape is formed into an smooth oval similar to a football or a three-sided eliptical shape that is used to make a pleasing presentation for the semi-soft foods being served. This shape is achieved with the use of two spoons of the same size that are held in each hand so the bowls of the spoons face and are positioned next to each other. The first spoon scoops out a spoonful of the food being molded and as it does, this forms the first side of the Quenelle as it is held in the bowl of the spoon. The bowl of the second spoon is then pressed against one side of the scooped contents that are being held in the first spoon in order to start the process of forming the second side, creating a ridge running from the tip of the spoon to the handle.

And this old geezer at the Olympic opening ceremony when the German team was parading out on track, another wtf moment.

That guy looks like something out of the Boys From Brazil, Boris Johnson is have a good giggle behind, Camilla is not.

LOL, these excuses are cringe worthy.

Dieudonne strikes me as a rather cunning snake, manipulating these simpletons into supporting him.

I see Anelka has asked the FA to drop the charges against him citing cultural nuance. Precisely and exactly the defence denied Suarez. The FA will, no doubt, ignore this.

Because Anelka did it the day after a French minister moved to ban his mate having public meetings to promote anti semitism.

It's as ludicrous a defence as not being aware after 5 years in europe (?) that you didn't know calling someone negro or referring to their skin colour while abusing them was wrong.

Ignorance and idiocy shouldn't be defences.

The wisdom to garner sufficient evidence to establish intent should never be disregarded and replaced with sanctimony. Disregarding provocation as though it has no bearing was also a mistake in the Suarez case.

We've all said and done things through ignorance or without regard to unintended consequences, it very definitely can be used in reasonable mitigation and certainly should be regarded when deciding on sanction.

There is no defence for Anelka if we simply say that what he says was support for a friend is ignorant of the fact he should've known the FA would consider it anti-semitic; even though less than feckin' no-one gave it a second glance at the time.

The tail is wagging the dog here and the FA is going to find itself adjudicating on all manner of allegations it isn't capable of.
