Liverpool contact former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti as Brendan Rodgers replacement

CARLO ANCELOTTI has been contacted by Liverpool with a view to taking over from the under-pressure Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman is feeling the wrath of the Reds' fans after a string of poor results has left them floundering in 13th place in the table.
They haven't won for four games and fans have taken matters into their own hands, starting a fund to get the former Swansea boss out.

However, the Liverpool faithful may not be the only ones losing patience with Rodgers, after reports in Italy suggest the club have reached out to Ancelotti.
CalcioMercatoWeb report that the former Chelsea boss has been approached by the Reds to discuss the possibility of taking charge.

The 56-year-old certainly has the pedigree to help the club push on, boasting three Champions League titles from his time at AC Milan and Real Madrid.
And most importantly, the Italian has the Premier League know-how, lifting the title with the Blues in the 2009/10 season.

About as accurate as their weather reports I'd imagine.

Im not yet convinced Rodgers is not capable of doing the job he has....

But if this is actually a possibility, we would be mad to not do it.

Give him full freedom and a 50 million budget and he will transform our squad. Players will suddenly want to play for us again....he is a winner.

Julian is right Rodgers is capable - but seems destined to fuck it up he just seems intent on doing it Brendan's way

Its just like fsg to give BR another contract with us above Chelsea and only 4 points off 4th

I'd be over the moon with Carlo.

My only slight concern is that he's usually had incredible squads and incredible players to work with, whereas we know Klopp can work within constraints. But fuck me, the man has won 3 European Cups, The Serie A, The Premiership & The FA Cup double, The French League. He's coached the likes of Kaka, Pirlo, Zidane, Cafu, Maldini, Ronaldo. He's possibly the greatest manager in the game still working. And he's only 56.

Bring him in, give him 70 odd million and give him the keys to the entire club I say.

Usually doesn't equal always. Earlier in his career he got Reggiana into Serie A, he got Parma into the Champs League and even Milan were floundering when he went there and built the side which came so close to winning the CL in Istanbul. 😉

Please let this be true. More to the point, please let Ancelotti say "yes".

Just think he can add Lovren and Allen to that list.

He's spoken very highely about the club in the past.
Hopefully he'll be interested.

I don't know why people are claiming Ancelotti or Klopp or whoever needs a big spending club to be succesful. If anything we spend a lot of Money. More Money than a most other clubs. Just imagine what we have spent on talent that dont even get to the bench of our club (incl out on loan players). We clearly spend Money, but we have spent it on 17 avergae players the last two years instead of 6 really good ones.

If these managers only can manage City, United, Chelsea, PSG or Real Madrid it is something wrong. I dont believe that. These managers was brought there in the first place based on their ability to create results.

On the other hand Rodgers has landed the job with us based on creating a style of play With Swansea, which debatable is due to the system of Swansea and not because of Rodgers. You can actually argue that the two jobs Rodgers has had were he is given freedom is when he was sacked at Reading and when he is sacked by us. I don't believe one of the Clubs above will steal him from us to put it that way!!

Daily Mail reporting that we've contacted Ancelotti.
The reporter, Neil Ashton, has apparently worked close with him previously.

Wonder what Rodgers said when he heard about the approach this morning, at the table, in his robe and slippers, munching toast, sipping tea.

100% True. It is FSG that makes the approach. Keep Ayre far away from this.

What a shambles.

If we have contacted Ancelotti or whoever else, good to know that it's being splashed all across the media. That should make the situation with Rodgers / players all the better.
