It was mentioned on the Anfield Index podcast that Ancelotti was offered and he was keen on the LFC manager position but the difference was he saw it more of a short term (1-2 years) thing and his family were reluctant to relocate to Liverpool with him
I'd prefer Anchelotti myself, but looks very unlikely now. calm, a real gent, attracts world class players and proven in different leagues, including this one. But I'm gearing up to go Klopp-tastic.

Tough to tell - like Mourinho, he's always had very good environments to work with (good squads, money etc) ... I guess until you see him try with a weaker team (in one or both areas I mentioned), it's tough to tell with him (or Mourinho).
It really isn't, Wizzy. I don't know why normally knowledgeable folks like you keep saying this. He made Reggiana a Serie A side, he made Parma a Champions League side and even Milan were mediocre when he first went there.
When he arrived, yes. It took him 4 seasons to build up the side we beat in Istanbul.
It's irrelevant, cos you won't be making the choice.Properly confused who I want. Let's bring back the joint manager shite.
the spine was there as far as i remember ... maldini, kaka, sheva etc
@LeTallecWiz - JJ is right. Even Hapoel TA beat them in 2002. Remeber?
He won the CL in his first full season there (2002-03)
I responded to the previous posts (before you raised the spine issue). They were mediocre when he took over.and that team had (star for those who started in 2005) :
dida*
nesta*
Maldini*
Gattusso*
Pirlo*
Seerdorf*
Costa
Sheva*
Inzaghi
Ambrosini
That's not a spine? 🙂

Of course it is, old pal, but they didn't make it count. Even with that spine they underperformed in the league for years. It took Ancelotti to change that.
He also had the vision to make Pirlo a dm.
I'd be happy with Klopp but I think Ancelotti would make us a real force in Europe.
His record in two legged ties is phenomenal.
He was undermined at Chelsea regarding the Torres affair.
He's an exceptionally shrewd man but I get the feeling unless we offer him some massive assurances financially he won't break his sabbatical.
Which is a massive shame.
Because I don't count an underperforming squad as a good environment. It had the potential to be one but Ancelotti was key to realising that potential.
That said, on reflection I should have said "underperforming" in the first place as opposed to "mediocre".
