'I am happy because Torres is here and because he has come in a good condition and with fantastic attitude,' says Ancelotti. 'He is not 100 per cent, but he will score. And he will regain that speed, that acceleration, that people think he has lost. He had a problem last year, with his knee, and he tried to recover quickly to play in the World Cup. He was not 100 per cent at the World Cup.

'He then came back in September, having basically been injured for five months. When a player is injured for five months, to come back to have the speed as well as the skill, to have that acceleration, you need to have time. So we are arranging for him specific training to work on his speed.

'That acceleration is not back yet. But he doesn't have a big problem. The knee is fine. It is coming. In the last game against Fulham, two or three times he was quick. He moved very well. He is improving. With the people we have here I am sure we can get him back to his very best.

'He is a good professional, and the attitude is always important. We just have to arrange the right training for him.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

We can all wish for Torres to be shit at Chelsea but the reality is that he is going to start performing for them sooner or later. He's gonna get a well deserved rest this summer and we'll probably see a rejuvenated Spanish cunt next season.

Or we can hope his knee is fucked and he never gets back to his best again

And Vlad did mention there was a whisper about that being the case at the time of the sale.

I would back our new medical team to be right on this one.

I can't play PES online anymore because of that cunt (they haven't updated the game yet).
But we've got Carroll and Suarez now. No need to wish any injuries upon him.

One would suffice.

I think I probably *do* need to drink beer, sadly.

His problem isn't his knee or 'lack of acceleration' Carlo, it's that he's a waltzing mememe prima donna cunt who spends the best part of every 90 minutes looking at his reflection in his boots.

"the world cup was not a success for me personally" - it still astounds me he said that.

That is an amazing quote. But Torres wasn't at all primadonna-ish when he arrived at Liverpool, was he? I thought he seemed really humble and hard-working. What did we do to him?

That quote didn't surprise me at all. Because I could already see that when the others in his team scored or during the celebrations afterwards. He always seemed distant.
I even saw it when other players than Torres scored for us.

The WC2010 wasn't a success for Torres. That's just the plain truth.

He'll come good for the Chavs and I don't care. I'm only investing my energy in Liverpool and hoping that Andy and Luis start off with a bang.

Ryan is 100% spot on...

He is the president of the new age breed of sportsmen club ( Lebron heads the US chapter), who believes that it is the responsibility of the club, the fans, to make sure that rings ( and medals) fall on his lap. The classic Sky sportsman.

He compares himself with great sportsmen of the yesteryears and has been brainwashed into believing that irrespective of his form and injuries, it is not his fault that he does not have medals. More and more sports fans all over the globe are admitting that they are not able to identify with their stars. El Cunto symbolizes that.

That quote really doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Torres is self centred, how is that surprising to anyone?

Is being self centred not part of the make up of professional sports people? When they were young they didn't spend hours training while their friends did something fun for anybody else but themselves.

I've no problem with Torres ambition, that includes being disappointed with himself during the world cup, of course he wants to be the man who won it for them, he's a striker that's what he's supposed to do.

I think the WC comment has been taken out of context.

Torres was half fit/shit for the WC so personally he wasn't great, he didnt do a massive amount to contribute towards Spain winning the thing so I cant really see a massive amount wrong with that comment.

I don't see anything wrong with his World Cup comment either. It was a shit world cup for him - doesn't mean he probably wasn't happy for everyone else.

If one was to take the emotion out of the situation, all he's saying is "I was shit".

Wait a minute here people..

Your country wins the WORLD CUP for the FIRST TIME. And you play IN the tournament - not your best tournament, but you do play. PLUS you have a cracking qualification round, where you had a major role..

And it wasn't the best World Cup? Get stuffed. I'm with the critics on this one.

The thing is, he isn't suited to the tipppy-tappy bellend game. So he's never going to be great for Spain whilst they are playing the barca way.

Well he got his medal. Thats what he looks for. Success period.

How has Ancelottery still got a job? I mean I know he did enought last year to be given half a chance - but this is Roman we're talking here. I mean he spent 70 million quid last month and hasn't won a match since. Scouse sides have gone the bridge and won twice in a few weeks. I was watching that game yesterday and at full time before eggsies I was all like.... I wonder when the last time Chelsea didn't score for 270 mins of footy was? Us, Fulham, Everton, no goals.

Its funny as fuck.
Half their team is past it and to pep that up they sign the workshy Torres and sideshow bob.
Brilliant.

People are getting old these days...

Lampard, Terry, Carra, Gerrard all about 31 or 32.

Just read in the other thread that Dirk's 30.

Raheem will be next in that loyalty thread when he's stuck with us until he's 63. Like Giggs trying to beat Ian Callaghan. Raheem will beat Stanley Matthews.

Who would they replace him with?

If there was the next young Mourinho out there then Abramovich would porbably have gone for him, but there's not a lot. As it is, he's done the succession of 'successful, older international coaches' for a while now in Ancelotti, Hiddink, Scolari, etc and probably can't be arsed with another one.

There's a rumour/theory that Jose's attendance at the Fulham game in the week could be significant.
