Alvaro Arbeloa

Agreed, he can fuck off

He's been very inconsistent this season and has had several truly awful games; top defenders only have about two a season

Goodbye

at least he hasn't scored a few own goals

I like Arbeloa but I think he plays too much because we have no one else to play right back

If Carra didn't have a go at him, this thread wouldn't exist.

Carra overreacted and now so are you.

Yep, all of the above for me too.

Rafa's obsession with fullbacks who can attack & defend is beginning to grate TBH, they invariably cant do both at a high enough level.

I'll add arbeloa should have punched carra's lights out the fucking nutter. telling someone off is one thing shoving them is quite another.

Arbeloa needs real competition next season, but I don't think he needs to go. Not as much as one of our 9 LBs.

I'd have liked to see him try. Carra would (& might be right now) completely annihilate him.

yeah exactly and there's loads of quality right backs just queuing up at reasonable prices.

WTF's this??

Another Knee Jerk reaction thread?
Carra's reaction just highlighted what most people have been saying for the past 2 months, great going forward, but makes fuck ups at the back far too often.

arbeloa didn't exactly look scared when he shoved him back and went after him.

I'm not saying he was scared. But he fucking should've been.

Carra has been making fuck ups too this season. I haven't seen anyone come down like a ton of bricks on him during the match.

As I said in the match thread, people used to come down on Gerrard for his attitude towards his team-mates at times. But everyone loves Carra, so he can do whatever he wants...

Well, he can't. As vice-captain, he should maintain a bit of composure on the field. Dishing out bollockings is one thing, wanting to kick the shit out of someone in a game we're leading comfortably and is ultimately meaningless is another.

Ok so maybe Arbeloa made a defensive misjudgement in not shutting down Fortune straight away.

But a trait for a good defender is how you recover from a mistake, and Arbs recovered brilliantly by blocking the subsequent shot.

personally when arbeloa hasn't been in the team we haven't been as good because it usually means carra at right back (roasted alive by leighton baines) or worse skrtel (roasted alive by stuart downing).

Okay, so we've got everyone saying how shit he's been over the past two months

annnnnnnnnnd

Others saying he's wank cause he's got no competition...

You put the two together and you get - He's been shite over the past two months as he's knackered ?

Carra has made more than enough mistakes this season, but that's all down to him being knackered and yeah, he's played more games than anyone else, but no double standards , yeah? Arbeloa would've played more if it wasnt for that injury.

FFS lads.

Our vice captain had a pop at somebody who's been shite for a while now. It wasn't any worse than Bruice & McMoneyman or Brucie and Beglin years ago.

It's pro football. Temper rise and shit happens.

Stop looking to make it something it's not.

Couldn't agree more.

And all this bollocks about Arbeloa being shit for large parts of the season is just plain wrong. He's been solid all year and has added more of an attacking edge to his game, allowing Kuyt more space/options on the right.

For 2.5m the lad has proven to be an absolute bargain.

Cos Carragher is going to knock you out in the carpark..
The most worrying part of that was not Arbeloa and Carra but the fact that first Xabi and then Agger came in and went straight for Carra's throat followed by Alonso really taking him to task after the final whistle.

All is not well with either Carra and a few others or maybe there's a bit of an us vs them in the Spain / England culture.

Both players have made mistakes these past 2 months.
One because he's knackered having played every single game.
The other because he's simply an average defender.
One is the one of most important player in the club.
The other is just a good squad player.

RB is not our priority in the summer though

You're spot on here mate. Saved me for replying something similar.

Anyways these things happen so let's just move on. Carra was probably still pissed off by having watched the Mancs lift another trophy yesterday.

No he didn't. Not in the slightest.

He was tryng to get it sorted and Carra didn't seem to interested.

Jesus, lads.

Xabi acted like a leader I thought. Gerrard should've been in there.
