Alberto Moreno

Markovic, Carroll, Diouf, Balotelli, Aquilani, Downing......the list is quite long.

And that's making some attempt to bring the amount of money paid into the equation, too.

Taking fees into account that's a pretty accurate list IMO.

Otherwise, for sheer awfulness I don't reckon any of them come close to poor Nicky Tanner, the guy who had previously been nicknamed "Whoosh" by supporters at Bristol ******* Rovers referring to the sound the ball inevitably made when Tanner hoofed it forward. Jan Molby was once asked who the worst player was that he ever played with. His answer: "Nicky Tanner. He was shit. He somehow managed to come in to training each day and be worse than the day before."

I was particularly disappointed about Downing, because he had looked like a good signing. He had been very effective on the wing for Aston Villa.

When he came to Anfield, he seemed to lose motivation. He stopped taking on defenders and his crosses had become poor.

Mid-season, his form seemed to improve and a journalist asked him about this. He said that Mr. Rodgers had spoken to him and said he should try harder, and that was why his form had got better.

Downing.... there is no need to ever write his name.... what the fuck were we doing... WHY??? WHY!?!?!? I don't write on here very much but I do remember the arguments on here...

As to Moreno I reckon we can maybe get over that offer for him, and I like the fact that although we clearly are still shit at buying players in quickly we at least are not giving the impression that we sell cheaply. He isn't playing and he shouldn't after last years fucking disaster against Sevilla but nonetheless he does have a certain amount of potential and in a nutty market he does have some value.

Anyone with half a fucking brain cell knew Downing was not the answer.

The worst pound for pound transfer we ever did? Tough one that. For me, it's either Balotelli or Aquilani. Carroll gets a bit of a let off because Suarez came at the same time, And we somehow managed to convince West Ham to spunk 15 mil on him.

Balotelli on the other hand came in to replace Suarez and scored one fucking league goal. One! Then he went out on loan, and we won't see a fucking penny once he's finally off the books.

Aquilani came to Liverpool (injured) as Alonso's replacement. And when he did finally get into the pitch, the bog-eyed runt was a giant pussy and waste of space. Obviously he went out on loan for about 7 years and we didn't see a penny.

One of those two was the worst. But I really don't want to think about them any longer.

I wonder what happened to Aquilani....

It's sad that FSG don't buy from the top shelf but at the same time we have wasted a shitload of cash over the years on "potential".

I'm chuffed we got that Salah lad but nonetheless I hope FSG actually buy big this year. We need a superstar, even over the last twenty five years of pottering around not winning the league we always had at least one superstar... fingers crossed we get one...

They purchased Mane and Wini for £60m.It's reported we've made mega bids for players this season.

He's not a terrible player, he clearly has some talent and would be a good wingback in the right set up, he can put in a good ball and will get a few goals too in the right role. He's just brainless as a defender though, I'm glad I never have to see that terrible full body tackle he does again, in a Liverpool shirt anyway. Good luck to him, poor signing overall but he'll do a job somewhere if handled properly.

Excellent summary. I was very doubtful about the signing to begin with, but he had one or two good early games and was said to have become very popular with his teammates in a short time, so he won me over. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out for him and, like you, I think he'll do well in the right system somewhere.

I'm not in the anti FSG brigade at all really redhorizon, but it do not feel that they have bought anyone top top notch and we have given the impression of a team not exactly rushing to sign your truly fancy players. Yes we did buy Mane and Wini and yes they did cost 60M but we also sold a shit load of players and the net investment in players was low wasn't it.

Because it's the off season now and because I reckon on our day we were the best team in the league last season I'm hoping for a mega exciting signing....

He's not just brainless as a defender. He's an all-round brainless footballer, as that ridiculous long range shot late last season highlighted. Put him anywhere on the pitch and he'll make a stupid decision. Yes, he has got some talent, but talent without any intelligence is just a waste of talent. He's an absolute liability and I cannot wait until he's faded from memory as a Liverpool player.

He'll do alright in a team with lower expectations, where his occasional swashbuckling run will be well regarded by supporters who suffer through a lot of dire play.

Then they'll eventually get fucked off by his complete antipathy to defending and general idiocy.

Oh wait. That was us.

I'm still somehow fond of the goofy grinned idiot but get rid. Please.

You thought Riise was stupid, then Moreno walked through the Shankly Gates and smashed that record.

You can forgive players a lot but the failure to learn from your mistakes and improve, even a little, is intolerable.

i wouldn't be surprised if he was boss wherever he went to next, equally, I wouldn't be surprised if he disappeared into mediocrity

Highlight of his career for us was of him dancing with Studge.

Close 2nd is his retarded full body tackles and the schoolboy trailing leg.

3rd will be the hands behind the back routine when he is trying to block a cross.

Good luck Moreno, nice guy, puzzling footballer.

Yeh not a great bunch, although I can see why they saw something in Aspas as he has gone back and smashed it in Spain. Probably just not suited to the prem or the weight of the shirt

As a club, we should also learn, so I hope those who recommended the signing of Moreno are without a job now.

Probably the same person who recommended Aspas, Luis Alberto and Markovic. I hope he gets hired by United.

Can't see it, at all. I think people think this because he has pace and scored a couple of goals. His positioning is rubbish, his decision making is worse, his close control isn't impressive, his crossing is average and he has zero game intelligence.
If Klopp couldn't coach him I doubt many could.

Never understood why we bought him in the first place. I remember when we were first linked with him i watched a couple of games with him for Seville and thought he was shockingly bad. Then watched him in the Europa Cup final and thought he stunk the place out and couldn't believe we were buying such garbage.

Put in a good ball? His delivery is bloody woeful. He just smashes the thing and hopes for the best. He's really really shit at football.

Jaysis. Downing was bad. 3 goals and not many assists in the 2 years he was here. Talk about abysmal. Terrific at hitting the woodwork.

I remember all the reports that even the Sevilla fans thought we were mad paying what we did and didn't understand what we saw in him.

4th missing an open goal vs West Brom. A full open goal. Indefensible.
