Ajax Financial Director Jeroen Slop has admitted for the first time that the Dutch giants will have to sell top players including Maarten Stekelenburg, Gregory Van der Wiel, Luis Suarez, and Jan Vertonghen.

The club’s Financial Director has put Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City on red alert, along with a host of European giants after admitting the famous club will have to sell its top talent if they fail to get past Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

Top Ajax players have interested a host of Premier League clubs with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger following centre-back Jan Vertonghen and goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

While Chelsea and Manchester United have both showed consistent interest in Luis Suarez and Gregory Van der Wiel. Liverpool have also followed both players however it is unknown what transfer budget Roy Hodgson has left for the rest of the summer.
Big spending Manchester City have also been linked with right-back Van der Wiel and Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez; however, manager Roberto Mancini announced the signing of Inter Milan's Mario Balotelli today, and is set to unveil Aston Villa's James Milner in the next 48 hours, which could be the last of City's summer spending.

The Financial Director of Ajax, Jeroen Slop blamed Marco van Basten for the financial plight at the club and admitted the losses have been huge at the Dutch giants:

"Because of the 35 million euro van Basten could spend, as it turned out unprofitable new players, Ajax end up in the red. Oleguer, Dario Cvitanovic, Evander Sno, Rob Wielaert, Miralem Sulejmani, Ismail Aissati. Tell me which was a good purchase. "

Slop admits if the Dutch club fail to progress in the Champions League, the club’s star players will be sold:

“Ajax last season recorded a loss of 21 million euros because of missing out on the group stage of the Champions League achievement. We cannot afford the same loss rate and will be forced to sel,l and top players are not excluded."

They got a good result away to Kiev last night, so they could possibly end up in the CL.

get Suarez - give them Babel + 5 mill.

Babel plus 10 wouldn't cover it. I'd love him. He's made for the Prem.

sign1 sign! sign!

Who's their left back... and is he any good.

Give them El Zhar as well as Babel... and Plessis

...and Lucas. And Insua.

Would be a fantastic transfer window for us in that case.

Not a position we need maybe...but I'd like van der Wiel.

Excellent player. Can he play LB?

Dunno, really..

I'd seen very little of him, just a bit for Ajax..but i thought he was criminally under-rated at the World Cup.

I liked him too Avey.
Apparently the gooners were/are sniffing around him.

He certainly looked suited to the physical side of the game (Tevez like?)

I wasn't that impressed though.

TBF it's probably rare for a fullback to be massively impressive in a short space of time. What I particularly liked about him was that he seems to have a nice balance to his game between defensive and attacking ability. Too often fullbacks are good at one and iffy at the other.

Really?

Here the commentators wouldn't shut up about how highly rated he is.

He did get some mention ove here, but it was nothing compared to Robben and Sneijder.

Ajax got a talented bunch of players really and we're hopefully taking a closer look at the following;

Urby Emmanuelson, can blay both as LB and as LW - error-prone but boy he's got talent. Pacy, skillful and eye for the goal as well. We shouldn't pay over the top but he could be a good squad player who can cover two positions on the left. Did I mention he got pace?

Christian Eriksen, potential worldclass player for the AM slot. Can cover both RW and LW as well and reminds me of players like Xavi and Iniesta. Only 18-years-old so probably better off staying in Holland for another year or two.

Siem de Jong - probably the one player (alongside Vertonghen whom we don't really need) who is the most suited to the Premiership at this stage. Big, strong, versatile forward player who can also play upfront. Good in the air, strong on the ground and rather classy on the ball. Bergkamp-esque at times.

Suarez is a poacher but in my opinion not anywhere near worth the £20M prize-tag. Their new striker Hamdaoui would suit us better I reckon and would be far cheaper.
