Origi was absolutely terrible. Front 3 disappointing. Henderson very subdued. Back 4 was good especially the two new fullbacks, Clyne is the business. Lallana and Ibe started really well and faded badly. Milner was the best player on the park. And Allen has moved on, hes now the Welsh Pirlo, tidy beard and made a couple a decent breaks forward, otherwise irrelevant.

It's a fucking friendly. Jesus. a few years ago it would have got the result and about 50 words in the back of the Echo without a fucking photo. Now it's meant to be a signifier of the entire squad and people actually watch them on TV then discuss everything at length. The world continues to get madder.

So you think he's playing shit on purpose cos it's a friendly?

If we won 12-0 would you be singing from the rooftops, Skullflower?

Or would you rationalise that it was just a friendly?

Can you rationalise?

He was far far better in the 2nd half - some great runs, an assist etc.

I thought the front 3 started well, linking up changing positions and creating chances. The goal didn't come and Adelaide started to see more and more of the ball. As a result our attacking trio didnt really make inroads. Origi gave up after half an hour, Ibe was the best of the 3 but none of them were particularly impressive given it was an opportunity to make a case for themselves.

Man City beat them 2-0 a few days ago. I suppose city are shit as well

Chelsea 1 - 0 Sydney FC
Tottenham 1 - 0 Sydney FC
Liverpool 2 - 0 Melbourne Victory
Liverpool 2 - 1 Brisbane
Liverpool 2 - 0 Adelaide
Man City 2 - 0 Adelaide
Man City 1 - 0 Melbourne City

I think A-League clubs might be underrated by most ... the recent results from friendlies show that other English clubs haven't had an easy time of it either.

Henderson - solid
Milner - solid ... great work ethic, never stops running
Ibe - looks promising, hopefully progresses this season and takes the most of his chances
Gomez - kid looks very solid for an 18 yr old, could be a great piece of business by the club
Origi - struggled to get into the game, not that impressed to be honest.
Ings - nice cameo, made a couple of runs in behind, nice finish for the goal

Origi wasnt that bad. Some decent chances, link up play and some decent touches.
The lad has great potential but people should remember that he's a kid and its pre season.
Ings and Origi are already written off by some on here and its laughable.

Origi looks a bit short of confidence. Which isnt strange considering the year he had and treatment he got from the Lille fans. He'll be great if given time. Which he obiously wont be given by some.
I'm guessing people made up their minds from that awful worst team of the year stuff.

Clyne was excellent. Its been so long since we had a proper right back it just feels a bit surreal. Last year with Johnson fucking about there it has strengthened us massively with signing Clyne.
Milner is ace. Lallana was very good in spells. Still holds on to the ball to long.
Skrtel was very good and Moreno was alright when he came on.

I really want to swap Lucas with a proper dm. That would improve us greatly.

Still don't understand why so many PL clubs go to Oz for these games. It's a tiny commercial market. I'm glad Aussie reds get to see the team etc, but I don't get it. A population of 20 million, most of who are more interested in AFL and NRL.
I'm just bitter about Northern Spirit folding.

An easy extension of the South East tour, and there's still a fair amount of money there, the fact their league isn't that great just makes it much more appealing when premier league clubs come to town.

I think we're making 10M from the Aussie part of our tour ... and the fact the weather there is cold means our lads get to do some real training and mock-competitive stuff, like pressing all game, which simply can't happen (training or pressing) when playing in a hot Northern Hemisphere Summer (or perma-hot places like lots of Asia).

Very Good : Milner, Ibe (just)
Good : Lallana, Clyne (much improved 2nd half), Skrtel, Ings (that is how to time a run and round the keeper - missed a sitter of a header).
Ave : Gomez, Lovren, Moreno, Origi (gave my reasons at HT), Allen (improved in the 2nd half), Lucas, Henderson, Ming, Markovic
Below Ave : The whingers and mingers in this thread.

Yeah, we're getting 10 mill from those two games. Decent amount that and it been two quite good games aswell

Because they make in excess of 10M out of it, ast year played in front of 100,000 people - their largest ever attendance, and likely they enjoy getting away from moaning scouse bellends like you for a change.
