Add Moreno to my hate list, right after Mignolet

Joe Allen on the other hand clearly takes in every word that's said in training, look at the concentration on the guys face, analysing Klopps instructions thoroughly.

Firmino can fuck off though, he's clearly more interested in working out which one is his shadow. Coutinho is obviously thinking about Barcelona. And Lucas is just posing for the camera, look at him!

A picture tells a thousand stories.

It's the way he fails to learn lessons. Take this - he happily recounts Klopp's anger at what he admits was a foul in the area and there's no embarrassment, no sign he's learned anything. He's the type of player who thinks he's got his 'way' and just hopes he'll be lucky. The notion that he needs to stop sliding in and pushing and making stupid fouls is not something that penetrates that pea-sized brain of his.

As Denis Suárez tumbled in the penalty area, Alberto Moreno was struck by fear. His concern went beyond the possibility that his shove on the Villarreal winger could cost Liverpool a place in the Europa League final, ending his dream of facing Seville, his former club, in Basle. In the corner of his eye, Moreno could see Jürgen Klopp raging on the touchline. The Liverpool manager might have wanted to do something with his hands, but it would not have been to give a trademark hug.

“He wanted to kill me,” Moreno says with a laugh. Fortunately for the defender, he was saved by the match officials on two counts. Not only did the referee, Viktor Kassai, refuse to award a penalty, the fourth official, Peter Berretyan, reminded Klopp that he could not leave his technical area regardless of his rage. All the Liverpool manager could do was send an emissary, with Lucas Leiva, the substitute, dispatched to pass on a message.

“I definitely touched him,” Moreno says. “My two hands were on his back. It was a tense moment in the game. I think I was carried away on the tension and the excitement of the game and I didn’t realise I’d put as much force into the challenge as I had.

“I saw Lucas come down the touchline to speak to me and he had a message from the manager. He told me to keep calm, to keep my head and just to chill out. I have a really good relationship with the manager, though. He treats me great and makes me feel important to the team.”

He's an idiot and the sooner we get rid the better.

I agree Macca, I think pretty much everyone does. His attitude irks me in that he seems either completely oblivious to his failings or just plain nonchalant about the whole thing. I think it's fairly certain we'll buy a left back in the Summer, and I hope the same goes for the keeper position too.

Fantastic skills but at the same time shit game intelligence. Maybe Klopp should try and play him as a winger. He is one of our best players in the attacking half.

Is he though? His pace useful, but he's usually pretty wasteful. He hasn't got the brains to be a winger, because he lacks the game intelligence to make the right decisions and know when to shoot, cross or pick someone out. His assists and goals record would suggest he's some way off "one of our best players in the attacking half".

I don't think that's a bad suggestion.

In a rather static and slow team like ours tend to be he's definitely got pace to burn as well as the skill to beat defenders.

But yeah he's not done himself (or us) any favours of late.

What skill? Can I get video proof? Usually he has to stop and pass back to the CB or CM because he can't even slide a pass in with his right foot. He has pace and some power in the left peg. Not much else.

If he's one of our best attacking players, I clearly don't get football.

Lot of flaws but he's only 23 and he's got a few attributes that we don't see a lot in the squad.

I am just not sure Klopp's completely given up on him, well, I haven't anyways..

fantastic skills? lol?

there is absolutely nothing to his game, even his attacking abilities is extremely overrated...would much rather have clichy or rojo or ben davies here.

You want to team up and start the Moreno hate club?

not got time for hate clubs, it's clear as day we all want him gone....hopefully Klopp feels the same way and has had enough of him.

I actually think he's got worst since rodgers left.

Man that's too bad we could have offered "free hats" to members.

If a stat don't fit the agenda then ignore it and suddenly the player is shit even at the things he is good at. Like the stat that show that Moreno is the best fullback in the PL when it comes down to creating chances. Of course that stat don't count so he is overrated in the attacking half. Silly me.

It's great to see Lucas disagreeing with Arn... the Lucas / Arn paradox

Eh??? This is one of the pacier sides we've had in ages.

Where? Moreno has pace. Sturridge still has, although it's arguable he's lost a bit.

But where we need pace - breaking on the counter - our midfield and attacking midfield have none ; Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino are all pedestrian, at best.

They're not 'pedestrian'. This nonsense about pace has become the worst cliche among fans. They all sit on their arses, shaking their heads saying, 'nope, they lack pace'. I doubt most rate more than five players in the bloody world as having this mystical quality called pace. Come the Olympics, they'll be watching the 100 metres, moaning, 'Coh, they are SO slow!'

Pace isn't a mystical quality. It's quite a simple, observational metric.

And we don't have enough of it. It's not difficult to watch Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino and correctly state that not one of them has any genuine pace. So when all three play, we lack pace. So we need to introduce some.

Origi has it

Yeah, but he isnt a very good finisher and is also a striker. And if we play one up front that would be Sturridge anyway, who is at least twice as good.

I'm more interested in the midfield and attacking midfield players, those who should run onto, or past that lone striker, whoever it is. Firmino and Lallana couldn't outpace a fucking glacier.

Perhaps Origi could be reconditioned to play in support of the striker, he certainly does have genuine speed, and isn't good enough to play as our only striker anyway.

Anything less than 15 on Football Manager is pedestrian.

Never played Football Manager, but I prefer FIFA pace scores anyway, which are out of a 100.

Sadly I haven't bought one for a few years, so it's probably out of date.

Kane, Eriksen, Lamela/Alli
Rooney, Rashford, Mata
Giroud, Ozil, any of the other 800 attacking mids they've got with no pace
Messi, Suarez, Neymar
Lewandoski, Ribery, Robben

That's (give or take) the attacking trio's of the world's biggest sides - there's not a lot of insane pace there is there? Madrid have pace through Bale and Ronaldo, so they're largely the exception, but for the most part - sides these days aren't blessed with mindblowing pace in attack.

I'm not disputing your argument that some pace would be nice, and I agree with you re Firmino/Lallana/Coutinho in that they're very pedestrian. Just think the clamour for pace in attack is somewhat exaggerated.

It doesn't need to be insane pace. All of those teams bar Spurs have quite a lot of pace to get in behind defences.

I'm a little surprised that's d you'd use those clubs as an example given the players they have.

The first few yards of true pace are in the brain etc etc. I read that first in a match report after we'd beaten Swindon 5-0 and I think whoever was writing the report was referencing Ronnie Whelan and Jan Molby.

It's perhaps exaggerated in how I've expressed it, but the likes of Alli, Lamela, Neymar, Robben, Ribery, Rashford are all pretty rapid, and we have......Sturridge.

We have no pacy option at AM/ CM whatsoever

Nah, his starting positions would be different and he might struggle to get beyond players without having space to gallop into.
