...and I'm talking bout myself, for continuously putting myself through 90mins of ordeal watching us play.
I just end up frustrated and irritated after almost every single game.
Yet, come Sunday, I'll be doing it again.
Why would any sane person do this to themselves?

No point asking that question to a house full of lunatics

That's true Paddy, I do! I do and always will I suppose.

I wonder if the players know exactly what kind of heartache they put us supporters through?

It's the easiest thing in the world supporting a winning team Mojo. This is where true fans show their colours no matter what. I've been pissed off for years, as have many people, yet just can't find it in myself to give up my seat. If the owners get a refinance that may change of course. The decision then is do you continue to put money in the pockets of those two greedy cunts and give up match going that you've done for two decades or carry on supporting the team you love knowing the former is true.

Well, the only alternative options are to a) support a new team; or b) give up on football, and given both seem impossible to me you're left with little option - other than to put up with it, give them our wallets and show up again at the same time and place next week.

When you think about it, football fans are the perfect mugging victims.

Exactly. Spot on. This is why protests and similar stuff don't get anywhere - because all that matters is money to these cunts and they know people won't stop supporting their teams. We pay for the privilege of supporting our team.

The funny thing with this turmoil is the unsupporting wife who comes up with gems like "it's only football" or "just support someone else". Then when we are shit or let in a late goal she says " you knew that would happen it always does who do you bother watching it if it upsets you"

Maybe she has a point

days like this and what we've recently endured will make the good times taste so much more sweeter when they come back around.

c) give up on professional football

I was kind of thinking the same. Is it worth spending hours after hours building up frustration and bloodpressure.... But then. Just when I was on the verge of giving up, I found out that it wasnt a poor dull match. Luckily I read Roy Hodgsons analysis, and i discovered that this is what football is all about. We are were we should be!!!! What a relief!

"“We created some chances. It wasn’t a dull 0-0, there was activity at both ends of the field" - Roy "ManMythLegend" Hodgson

Yeah, mine used to do that all the time when we were first dating.

a) Not possible. I love us too fuckin much, which is why it hurts so much.
b) Never. Football's my 1st true love, and you know how it goes with that.
c) Hmmm. You know, with money ruling professional sport these days, you hardly find footballers / cricketers etc. playing for the love of the game or the team for that matter any more. It's all about $$. You kiss a badge today and profess undying love for the team you currently playing for, only for that to change once you move to another club, where the cycle starts again.
Thats why I love coaching my boys U8 team. Kids that love the game just want to get on the field & play the game, nothing else. Whether we win, lose or draw, you know everyones tried their hardest ang enjoyed themselves.

I dont see that with LFC lately. Even though Woy picks the formation from hell, the players out on the field last night were almost our full strength team, but fuckin hell, I dont think a non league team would have been happy with that performance with many of them still playing in their correct positions.

Ah fuck, why did I start? Maybe I should just go smoke another joint like I did after ranting here last night. I felt much better afterwards.

That's why I try to go with c) at the moment (with LFC being the exception obv).
Then again it is debatable if anything looks proffesional with LFC these days....

Sad but true.

During Houlliers final desperate season, when we was playing anti football, and we was torture to watch I actually stopped watching us play.

I never felt like that again..........................until now.

We are so negative, even at home, we create 3-4 shots on target because we seem to be defence first.

We are an attacking team, thats playing defensive football.

A Keegan type manager would have been better than Roy and his defence first mentality, we'd prolly have gotten 4th with one and been an all out attacking side, but losing a few games against good opposition along the way 4-3, but at least we would be playing our natural game and been exciting to watch!

But the worst thing is that we dont defend very well either. We dont press as a unit. It is easy for teams to keep the ball against us. Against Sunderland at home they had much more possesion than us. We have no aggressivness in our pressure. We dont defend well at set pieces. And we dont win to many duells.

I felt that way for much of last season, mate. As did many of my fellow Reds supporters over here...

We used to anticipate and enjoy LFC matches, and for more than a year now, it's been f$%!ing torture. We sit around our local supporters club bar, watching this drivel, wondering why the f#$! we got out of bad so early... At times last season, it felt like we expended more effort getting to the boozer than the players and manager did on the field.

But, at this stage, 35 years in, my body doesn't know how NOT to care... So on we go.
Yeah, maybe. But I deffo care *less* as I get older
Yep. Definitely true.

I remember feeling like my life was over when Utd beat us in the cream suits cup final, now I'd be grateful to get there, gutted at losing to them, & it'd take a lot of class A's & drink to get me through, but in the grand scheme of things it's wouldnt *really* matter & I'd know it.

I wouldn't say that I care less when the game is being played. If anything, it might mean a little more now than it did growing up, 'cos real life is kicking my arse most of the rest of the week, so now it's my only two hours "away" each week, and I really want it to be worth it.

But between matches it doesn't ruin my world as much as it used to. Other than when I'm on here, I rarely think about it, until we're back to match-day. Growing up, I was obsessed.

I'm loving FFF's description of how as he has 'matured', football has less resonance, because he takes more drugs

Nah, even watching it for me it doesnt mean quite as much TBH.

It's still the time I care most, but the apathy's growing.

That said, the fact I hate the owners is colouring much of this I think.

hahaha, I actually take less drugs than I used to, much less. Due to both maturing & finances, but yeah, I did chuckle as I wrote that.
