I wouldn't take less than £100 mill.for Torres from another English club. That money's going to have to stretch helluva far.

Not really, they are very hit and miss - but you should always sell a player when you're offered more than he's worth. They made a massive fuck up by taking Keane back.
*Genuine question*

What transfer fee's would you sell Torres, Stevie and Mascher for?
Well the fee in the press for Torres is 70m, if we were offered that I'd take it.

Mascherano - 35m

Stevie - 30m
yeah that about right but I would want more than 80m for torres as ronaldo went for 80m

the gerrard/mash fees are about right. gerrard is a better player and will get you more goals but is 30 now.

80
35
30

145m - that could completely rebuild the squad but how much of that money would be reinvested into the squad and would you trust the current manager (or any manager) to spend it wisely

Remember the stick people gave them about lacking ambition when they sold Keane and Berbatov at ridiculous prices ?

Best bit of business that club ever did.
Are you cleverly making a comparison to us Ross?
Not really, but I have advocated this as the way forward from here.

We're in purgatory at the moment, and adding one or two decent but pricey veteran players each season isn't going to cut it. We're out of the CL, we're not going to get back in anytime soon without doing something drastic.

I said last summer that if we were selling Alonso we might as well go ahead and sell Mascherano too and have a mini rebuild in the squad. I didn't think we'd compete so I didn't see the point in not cashing in on players and trying to get more out of the money.

I tend to agree with that but the main factor is whether we sell. if we're talking in a year to 2 years time then I'd say do it but if we are talking in a matter of months like broughton says then surely they the new owners) would want to build on the top players rather than start from scratch. its also a possiblity the owners would want to remove the debt from the club and start work on the stadium, taking a long term approach but in the short term sell players to keep liverpool 'ticking over' until the stadium is built preparing us for midtable mediocrity until the stadium is finished.

So you'd sell all three of our best players in the same summer?

No thankyou please.

New manager and cash being reinvested obviously

Maybe you should stop Masticating then. But the thought of you keeping it shut is, well Forlorn. Maybe you could graze on some Blackthorn instead yes then lots of little pricks in the mouth to keep you company happy satiated Bone a pet-tit.

Yeah, as a general rule that's obviously sound advice, but it isn't the only factor is it?

And in the past, Liverpool have done (or tried to do) exactly that. We have a history of selling players that could easily have played on (again, not considering all the factors, like wanting to leave):

Beardsley, Case, Aldo, Rush, Souness, McMahon, Keegan, Warnock, the list is extensive
A list of all-time greats and then... you decided to end with Stephen Warnock. Way to ruin your point.

Are you got quack on about how he isn't better than Insua again?

That was embarrassing enough first time round

Amuse me Bren, I'm bored and fucking around.

Leeds are taking an eternity to score here, hence this spot of online fishing.

Smashing game this.

Leeds have come from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 with only 10 men. Elland Rd is predicatbly going berserk.

Its the first good thing Beckford has done since January

I know. He's really not that good, but he's captain and he's just put them in front so I doubt the Elland Rd faithful are that bothered right about now.

He has his moments but I think all the adulation from their cup run went to his head.

Leeds really need to careful, just one goal in it and Millwall are putting Swindon to the sword.

In fairness, he's scored 31 goals this season, so he's doing something right.

Leeds are up to the Championship.
Simon Grayson is a very good manager and I think he will lead Leeds back into the premiership. He is largely the reason why Blackpool are in the playoffs at the minute as he built that team up with very little money.
