A game of Football Manager..

Papers reporting this morning that the Arse are sniffing around Xhaka, and that Wiltshire could be let go to make room for him as Wenger's fed up with his off-field antics.

Well, I still like him and think that he's got all the attributes to be a great footballer. I might have missed the point of this thread because I thought it was only one player per position and took Götze instead. I'd still sign him in a heartbeat though.

The only downside is that he's had problems with his shoulder recently and missed some matches, so it will be interested to see how this pans out.

Sane isn't worth the money that he's going to cost. So I'd stay well clear.
I take it you get to watch a lot of Schalke then? I haven't quite found the time of late, so could you give me a re-cap on how Højbjerg's been doing of late. Wasn't it actually Goretzka who kept him out of the starting XI until he got injured?

PS Interesting you don't think Sane would be worth it, and as I also believe he'd be extremely expensive he'd be a big gamble.

Hojbjerg's a good one, there's no doubt about it.

But Goretzka is Schalke's player whereas Hojbjerg belongs to Bayern as you know - so Schalke's playing their own player and understandably so.

I found it strange that Schalke even loaned Hojbjerg because with Goretzka, Sane, Choupo Moting and Meyer they have more than enough players to support Huntelaar. And I found it even more strange that Bayern left him at Schalke in January. I genuinely thought they would recall him and loan him elsewhere.

Cheers mate.

I have really wondered about the motivation for Schalke - and Bayern - myself, as 04 are pretty well covered in midfield and obviously prefer to play their own player. And what does Bayern gain from having him sitting on the bench somewhere else.

Read yesterday that Schalke will try to sign him come next season so maybe they are trying to lower his price a bit from not playing him. Would be pretty arrogant but not a big surprise I guess..

Sport Bild reporting today that officials from our club are the only ones who have met Xhaka so far.

Forget Kane, we're getting Aberkane

Liverpool are trying to clinch a deal for Holland Under 16 international Abdallah Aberkane.
Anfield scouts have watched the 15-year-old Ado Den Haag defender extensively this season and are working on a deal.
The Merseysiders are understood to have registered their interest in Aberkane and are hopeful on having him on board ahead of next season.

Aberkane is primarily a centre back but can also play at full back.
The youngster is one of the latest talents to have emerged from Ado Den Haag’s fruitful academy in recent years.

Icardi married Lopez ex wife and that led to some drama.
A strange love triangle has developed since Icardi married former Sampdoria team-mate Lopez's ex-wife Wanda Nara just months after she divorced the Argentinean in 2013.
The fallout intensified when Icardi got a tattoo of Lopez's three children on his arm, with the latter then refusing to shake the hand of his countryman in a Serie A fixture in April 2014.

There's probably more too it though.

Well, this list isn't really in the spirit of this thread, but I don't care. 😀 Here it is anyway, a list just based on stats, carefully-curated clips without the embarrassing Sakho or Traore moments, not having watched any of them in a single game (except Vietto and Mertens) or just blind faith because their names sound ace.

GF: Ralf Fahrmann (Schalke) -- German keeper, experienced, and most importantly, he has a name that sounds like a top keeper. Chances are, anyone who watches a few Schalke games will probably tell you I'm recommending a dud.

LB: Djibril Sidibe (Lille) -- he plays RB too I think

CB: Alessio Romagnoli (Milan) -- this Italian chap is going to be very, very ace... and er... "this time it's different!". @irishred - am I right about the aceness?

CM: Gonzalo Escalante (Eibar) -- next season's N'golo Kante

CM: Omar Mascarell (Sporting Gijon on loan from Real Madrid this season) -- next season's backup N'golo Kante. And how can you not like someone called Omar?

These 2 CMs are in the top 5 of guys under 25 in the top 5 European leagues in interceptions, blocked passes and successful tackles. Guess what Kante was before he joined Leicester? We're so getting the new Kantes.

WF: Soufiane Boufal (Lille) -- because we like Lille and because he's the Moroccan Coutinho clone replacement we need when we lose the Brazilian original (see other thread coindentally called... "Soufiane Boufal")

WF: Dries Mertens (Napoli) -- loan; experienced pacy winger stop gap measure until I figure out which other wingers are out there; @cloggypop will hate this pick

CF: Luciano Vietto (Atl. Madrid) -- loan; fucker has made me look stupid this season at Atletico Madrid so he deserves to come sit on our bench and rot

I think we might have some left over from that 45m to 50m pool after buying / loaning that (somewhat) anonymous lot. Use that excess to get some blood spinners... or maybe make Southampton an offer for the 30-year-old Pelle who is in his final contract year. Stop-gap big man option for us (he's actually mobile and has some skill), and we can't kick the addiction of summer shopping at Southampton.

Mertens is a whingey, divey little cunt. Could never work out why the footy hipsters seemed to rate him over Tadic. Must have been good on some footy game. He annoys me.

Where's this year's list Oncy? You know the Herr Onceared list of player we need to sign.
I honestly have no clue pal.
Ive almost totally stopped watching football.
I know Gotze is available for the right price and he is great, I like Coman and theres a kid at Ajax whos name escapes me who is supposed to be amazing. Other than that im still on Griezmann and Pjanic who are probably both about 40 by now.
I would definitely be interested in Mahrez and Kante but they will cost a fortune and im happy to take suggestions on keepers and left backs as anywhere is up.

Bazoer thats his name. Ive seen clips of him and he looks raw but very talented. A bit like Ross Barkeley.

More than that pal. Ive been on him since I saw him at some youth international tournament in about 2011.
And you've been absolutely spot on all the way.

He's a player that would improve us remarkably almost instantly I believe, but with the upcoming Euro's and him (probably) playing in large part in France going - if not all the way - then very close to the crown, he'd probably become well out of reach for us.
