I always wonder whether anybody left the match at half time..

It's a shame, rafa gave us real hope in Europe. After 05 we played like we could beat anyone and we handed out some dickings to top clubs across Europe, it feels like a lifetime ago now when I worry about us facing fucking braga or besiktas..

What a cup final though..

Unforgettable, the greatest single game of my 50+ years as a Liverpool fan. Watching the DVD now, I still get nervous after Xabi's equalised and they're throwing everything at us, not to mention the peno shootout. 😀 So sad that Rafa proved unable to kick on in subsequent seasons. He ran that whole campaign brilliantly.

I love the quote from the Milan fan 'The red choir was the soundtrack to our horror movie' 😀

The greatest night of my life. Still sends shivers down my spine and brings tears of joy to my eyes just thinking about it and watching it.

I'd always dreamed as a kid of being there when we won the European Cup. This was a dream come true with the addition of a totally mental script.

Without memories like that and the standards they set, this club would have sunk into permanent mediocrity a long time ago. Everybody knows we're nowhere near a repeat at the moment, but things like this are what keep driving us on to try and get back to that level.

We will not get back to that level with these owners.

Thanks for sharing RA. Best night of my life, well on a par with my daughter being born anyway. Fortunate enough to have been there and witnessed it all, can't wait till the little one is older and I can share some of the stories of that day with her.

I've long forgotten about that magical night. Only cos it's bloody TEN years ago !! And lots have happened and changed during that time.

I was packing my house the other day to move into a new one and I came across this videotape recording of everything of the 2005 final. Bought it off eBay right after our win, silly me. I was thinking if I should keep it and bring it to the new place with me. But then I realized I probably won't even touch it, let alone watch it, plus there's already too much sentimental junk and I hate to clean the dust of it from time to time. So I just binned it.

I mean, can you still believe it ? Videotape ! Who bloody uses them anyways ? Plus you can easily find a replay on YouTube.

I guess what I'm trying to say is sorry but like videotape, I don't miss nor reminisce about it as much as I thought I would have, anymore. I'd rather we live to create new memories instead.

But then if you subscribe to these lines of thought, it's kinda scary isn't it ? What if we win the coveted premiership title eventually ? Will I forget about it too one day ?

I think there's just so much more important things going on in life, that football is not really about life and death after all.

Dammit I am starting to speak like an old man.

Huh^^^ That is a truly odd post. I personally couldn't disagree more (apart from the videotape thing) - For me it's one of the most blissful, euphoric events of my life. A treasured memory that I'm happy to share with others. @737Max @Spionkop69 @Piedro were all there I believe. I wasn't but in my own way I had an amazing time as well. It's great to reminisce some good times surely?

Yep me too. I wasn't there but I had my own bonkers experience that night. It's up there with the best ever memories. The miracle of Istanbul! It's still fucking nuts 10 years on!

I'm getting tired of our great history, you can only smoke that pipe for so long before it runs out.

This roller coaster has not enough "ups".

Yep I was there. Was just a bonkers day all round.

Outside of family I don't think I've ever been so excited and proud as that night. It will live with me for a long time.

Every time it's mentioned it brings it all back.

Sami Hyypia was on Goals on Sunday last week saying how at half time some of the Milan players had their Champions League Winners T Shirts on under their shirts.

It was absolutely amazing but I'm a bit bored of reminiscing about it now. I think the title of the thread sums it up for me.

Yeah I was, it still, 10 years on, is the greatest day of my life. I haven't got kids and I'm not married so it's easy for me to say that.

The best part about the day, was that I got to spend it with my brother and dad. And that I got fucking wankered. I can still taste the hangover.

Hopefully we can have a day like that again. You never know with us.

Was recounting the match last night with a mate who I watched it with at the time. Brought back some strong memories. Can't even imagine how I would feel had I been there in person. Even just having watched on TV it's one of my top days.
