Probably a longshot and might be silly, but instead of taking cash, we could consider this:

Ship him to Lille in exchange for Hazard and Gervinho.

For us: We need players now rather than money we can't spend, so getting a highly-rated midfielder and a generally well-regarded striker in return works for us. We probably lose out in the dollar value, but I'd rather we have some good legs to kick the ball now to help us win the Europa League and push for Europe next season. That fiel

For Lille: They get a world class striker upgrade who can help them push for the title and a CL position next season. Better still, they should be able to sell him in the summer in an auction; in essence they could end up getting more money than if they sold Hazard and Gervinho in the summer. Okay, so they lose out on a midfielder, but the honey pot at the end compensates for that. Question is whether Torres is allowed to be transferred twice in a year?

For Torres: He gets a shot at a title (since he's sooooooooo all about winning; he won't be winning the league with us for the rest of the season that's for sure); he can then up and go to his dream team in the summer. Just needs to bear playing a weaker league in the next few months, but hey, he'll end up with a medal!

A lot of stars need to line up for that, I know! 😀

Torres would never move there.

i would only consider 6 clubs viable options.. only 1 is currently interested..

I dont think we can try and offload him to other clubs.

Ashley Young is now 1/5 to join us before the end of the window
We're apperantly interested, but they want 18 mill or something.

IF Torres goes, every club in the world will know that we have 50 mill to burn, and prices will sky rocket.

Welcome Dude. Torres would rather stay than go Lille. The french league won't appeal to him at all. It's Chelsea or Barca and Chelsea want him now.

i want the £50m or so split between a striker and a winger, both young. hazard would be ideal as the winger. not so sure about the striker, possibly lukaku, although he's very very young so not ideal, really.

i'd rather we didn't sign english players because they're rarely world class and always overpriced. the sort of fee newcastle will want for carroll is fucking crazy, for example.

Benzema would be the obvious one. 23 yrs old, loads of international and CL experience, likely to be available and underpriced because he's never fit in at Real and Mourinho doesn't play him - and they've just signed Adebayor.

I reckon we could get him for about £20m, maybe even on loan to begin with. And I think he'd jump at the chance of playing every week.

Torres, Lucas, Poulsen, Skrtel, Maxi, Konc, Jova, Kyrgiakos and Aquilani out.

=£80M + £20M in kitty

Hazard £20M
Eriksen £12M
Bendtner £10M
Martinez £18M
Hangeland £8M
Alexis Sanchez £18M
Coentrao £14M

..............................Reina..............................
Magic........Hangeland....Agger..........Coentrao
..........................Martinez.............................
................Gerrard...........Eriksen...................
Sanchez................Suarez...................Hazard

Subs: Carra, Kelly, Aurelio, Shelvey, Spearing, Suso, Pacheco, Raul, Cole, Kuyt, Bendtner, N'Gog

So. Much. Win.

yes, he's a possibility. what's your take on why he's failed at real, though? sure, sometimes it means next to nothing, as with van der vaart, but not always - as with huntelaar.

i think the ideal might be if we could afford lukaku and someone like forlan to see us through a year or 2 of his development.

Benzema would be an interesting bet indeed. A load deal if possible at first would be ideal.

He's not looked particularly good so far in Madrid to be honest.

I think Huntelaar's quite a limited player, as he has no pace or strength, and cannot create chances for himself - he's just a finisher.

With Benzema, I suspect the problems are mostly mental rather than technical. He's always had a questionable attitude, perhaps due (as is increasingly common) to being too successful too soon. What he needs is a manager who both believes in him and makes sure he works his arse off. That's why I always feared Fergie getting hold of him, because the potential he has is just immense. If Kenny could work the same kind of magic, it would be ace.

I would be very happy with Forlan plus a fast winger if we sold Torres now. There are all sorts of obvious advantages to linking him up with Suarez. It's definitely a short-term option, though, and if we're going to hold on to Torres till the summer, then I think someone like Benzema or Lukaku is a better idea.

Feel free to mix them around a bit ;D

Kenny likes Arda Turan. Strange that we havent been linked with him
We were in some shit article a few days ago.

Another site claims that we're in talks with Villa regarding Young. Anyone heard anything?

He's on the bench today.

I'd sponk 30 of it to get Andy Carroll. I don't mind that he's a bit rapey, we could have 10 years of the best English striker for ages.

Sorry to intrude on the Carroll love-in here, but..

Andy Carroll is not, and will never be, "the White Drogba".

I think you're underrating Drogba here, as he's got great feet and skill for a big man. Whilst I'd agree Carroll is a bit of a monster in the air, he simply doesn't possess that same level of technical talent in the feet. I'd say he's worth 17m in today's market at most, (though probably 25m to the Geordies, as he's one of their own).

Regardless, I think we could get a better player for that sort of money.

and he has a shit hair cut
+1.

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't like long haired footballers. Makes me feel they're more concerned with their looks than they are their football. Whenever a long haired footballer goes into poor form, I seem to think a good short hair cut would sort it out. Weird, I know.

Didn't exactly work with Torres.

I'd love to have Eriksen but should we really get into it with Ajax again.
