UFC

A couple of things
1. Yes Khabib did maul conor, he controlled him start to finish, smashed his head in (view the no marks on Khabib's face vs conors face), and then tried to pull his head off and conor quit as usual. This was about as one sided as you can get, conor offered nothing, and was found out vs the only decent fighter that he's ever gone more than 20seconds with. He great vs the bang average, but vs the elite, he's looked like an amateur. We've seen over and over what happens to strikers with zero wrestling or submission game, vs someone with a little striking but elite wrestling/submissions. From back in the day with Royce vs Art, to Woodley vs Till a couple of weeks ago. It never ends well.
2. Also, Khabib got dogs abuse on the run up from both conor and his team, on all fronts race/religion/family etc, and then on the night he was getting more abuse through the cage from Dilon, and getting called a terrorist again, so I'm not surprised he got smashed aswell, he deserved it. Dilon just like conor, thinks he's the shit, and also got his arse handed to him on the night.
3. Conor threw the first punch vs the people from Khabib's team who were in the ring, I'm not sure where this pretext of Dana's 'poor conor got sucker punched' from.

I hope, and expect, that Khabib gets a % of his purse taken off him, and a 6month suspension. Unlike what conor got, for attacking innocent people in public which was no fine and no suspension.

That's unfair, describing Khabib as a decent fighter is a huge understatement, and unlike any of his previous fights, this time he had some seriously nasty intentions toward his opponent. Any ordinary fighter would have left in an ambulance, Conor did exceptionally well to leave on his feet and with his face still attached to his head.

I'm referring to Khabib in the context of 'the first decent fighter' conor has faced for a proper fight. Khabib is probably 2 or 3 fights away from throwing his hat into the argument for being the best of all time. I'd say if he beats GSP, Ferguson, Holloway as his next 3 opponents, which he'd be favourite to do, then he arguably is the GOAT.
There'd only be currently the current goat Fedor with a record near it. Jon Jones did have an argument with the opposition he's faced, but he's multiple time flagged cheater now, so he's forever out of the equation.

After this fight I just realized how overrated and hyped up Conor really is. All that trash talking wont take away that fact.

Heck even Nate Diaz exposed him multiple times.

Had a great time in Vegas, from the press conference to the weighs ins to fight night. The under-card worked out great with the Lewis fight and Ferguson fight. Both nearly worth the admission fee alone. Our seats were fine, any seat is decent in the T-Mobile arena. I think it hold about 18k when used for UFC.

The atmosphere was similar to the Euro's for any of the Irish that have been to a recent Euro's campaign. The atmosphere was electric on the night too. Luckily we missed all the drama afterwards. Well, I mean the drama after the drama. We saw Khabib jump into the crowd at Dillon Danis etc. which was crazy but we went back to our hotel to play some blackjack and missed the scuffles that seemed to break out at various points down in the lower mezzanine of the arena. I saw the video of the Irish lad being sparked out. First of all, idiot. Some of the Irish thought they were over at the Euro's again, singing, chanting, messing around etc. But this was a different occasion with a different crowd and a different undertone. Why would anyone mess with the Russians? We got back to our hotel and WIFI kicked in and my phone was flooded with msgs. My friend was there when the lad got knocked down with the punch, story goes the Irish lad spat on him so what did he expect? Don't spit at angry Russians.

I brought $745 in cash with me and came home with $730. We had a great time on the blackjack tables in New York New York over the space of 3 hours the night before the fight. I suppose that helped make the trip also. If I had plundered 1.5k gambling it might have clouded my judgement of the trip overall. I think only one of the group lost his proverbial balls at the tables.

We ate well, drank loads, gambled non stop and took in a dramatic high octane sporting event. Pity about the result, good knock, looking forward to the next fight.

To spend only $15 on a trip to Vegas is very good going! I went last year for my stag, but couldn't get on the low'ish limit blackjack tables anywhere! I couldn't get anywhere near a $5 or $10 a hand table. Could get on 25's fairly easily. I was a bit gutted as I wanted to play blackjack whilst I was there, so ended up hammering the sharknado slots for about +500.

As for mcgregor, he's shit. Hopefully all this hype will go away now. Ferguson is quality though.

You need to downgrade your casino Mors. We went to a few fun dive casinos with $5 Blackjack throughout. You can always up your bet but at least everyone in your group is happy as they can bet the minimum. Hooters is another good example of a fun casino with cheap tables. I was in the Bellagio and playing $100 hands of Roulette. I couldn't sustain that and it wouldn't be fun for me so we switched to New York New York where you can find some $5 -$10 tables easily.

I stayed in the excalibur, which is a lower spec one, couldn't get a table in there, and off the top of my head I tried MGM, Ceasars, Bellagio, Mandalay and I think the Flamingo - no joy in any. I'd heard there were sort of backstreet places to go with a happy hour, but was having a hard time trying to convince the others to look for them.

Im going in March and staying there mate, whats it like as an actual hotel? Rooms OK and that? Location?

Also, I need to find a good bar nearby to watch the Liverpool v Spurs game in (going with 9 Evertonians so I could be on my own watching it) so if you can recommend anywhere then I'd be grateful.

You could go to the Crown and Anchor to watch the game. https://www.crownandanchorlv.com/ It's a few mins taxi off the strip. Prob no need to leave the strip though, you'll get the match in any of the sports bars in the casinos. Try https://www.newyorknewyork.com/en/restaurants/nine-fine-irishmen.html

I've stayed in The Excalibur years ago. It doesn't overly matter where you stay in Vegas as you can go elsewhere to drink and gamble. The Location is down towards the MGM and New York New York but you can stroll up and take in the sights as you walk up to the Bellagio and Caesers palace etc.

Sorry @Piedro I didn't even see this, you should have tagged me. Hotel is fine, it's basic but absolutely fine. Decent size, decent bathroom etc and a good rate. Obviously not flash like the big ones, but there's a decent sized casino and games room downstairs. Bar is pricey, but all casino bars are. Think I was paying about $40 for 4x drinks round. I didn't see the comp ladies too often round the fruit machines, but they were about near the tables, they will comp you free drinks if you're playing fruit machines but smaller sized glasses etc.
Location-wise, it's at the south end of the strip, last hotel maybe, but bang next to the Luxor and the MGM, like a 2min walk to the MGM over the road. REgards to watching the games, when I went last year it was the end of the season so I didn't catch any, but, most of the big hotels like MGM, Ceasars, Ballagio etc have these bar/gambling/sports bar things inside them with loads of the tv's, I'd be 99% sure you'll catch it there, it'll be good, but drinking will be expensive. I'm sure there will be loads of sports bars off the strip but didn't go to any of them mate, sorry. Actually you might be able to catch the game at a strip club too, I'd defo try that next time I'm there.

You have to hand it to Jon Jones, he's got to be one of the most creative excuse makers in the history of doping violations.

How not to run a sports entertainment business by Dana White.
The whole Jon Jones thing is ridiculous more issues, moving the fight and not giving a shit Bout the undercard fighters.
But defend ya.man til the end cos he brings in the money.

Hope Gus smashes him

Well that was a pretty great set of fights and card. Best for a long time.
Diego Sanchez, great result and performance. Still think he should give it up now, but doubt he will after picking up the 50k.
Garbrandt. What a tit. Why do that. Deserved to lose and is obviously a bit simple. That's 3 on the spin now, wouldn't be surprised to see him move, he's waaaaay off a title shot.
Askren. Wow, fair play, he was about 3secs from getting KO' and then rightfully got the win. Lawler did go out briefly, and he wasn't getting out of that choke so would have been done 5seconds later regardless. Askren didn't look in that great of shape, but he's as strong as an ox.
Usman. Brilliant brilliant performance, won every second of every round and totally wrestlefucked an alleged elite level wrestler. Please Woodley has lost the belt, and Usman seems like a class act. Hopefully he pulls that twat Covington's head off next.
Smith. What-on-earth-was-he-thinking. What a twat. He was getting battered and was obviously going to lose, and had an magical gift presented to win in the form of a DQ win and the idiot decided not to take it. He could have the belt now. And, just purely from a financial point of view, he's now nowhere near getting a title shot again the dick. If he'd have took the DQ win, there would have been an immediate rematch and he'd have got another cut of the ppv money. I suspect the idiot has just done himself out of about 2mill quid, and no chance of a title shot for the next few years. Absolutely schoolboy error. Terrible.
Jones. Easy win for him, totally outclassed Smith. But he looks like anderson silva now he's had to stop juicing and come of the gear - he's just clowning people and not really trying to finish a fight. He could have easily ko'd Smith but didn't bother. Can't stand him, would love to see him go up to HW and get smashed.

I suppose Smith didn't want to win it on those terms. He has self respect for himself and the whole world would know he only won it due to DQ. Fair fucks to him.

He could have taken the win, regrouped, new gameplan, and come again in the immediate rematch. Now, he's not near another title shot for a few years of a very short career. He might not get another title fight in the ufc now, he's not all that great really. Saying that, if jones goes to hw, then it could be a free for all for a load of bang average fighters in that division.

Yeah but he's trained as marital artist all his life and got himself a title fight. Does he really want to win on those terms? Take a win on a DQ when he was clearly able to continue. I think 90% of the MMA community would have continued the fight.

I know what's you're saying, but, it's a bit like being in the champions league final, getting beat 8-0 at 70mins, zero chance of winning, and the ref says 'we can start it again in a few months time if you like when you've had a chance to get some better tactics, but we'll say you've won this one as I notice they've been cheating'. And you go 'nah it's ok boss I'd rather lose 15-0 than do that'. Just doesn't make any sense to me. Not when he was getting absolutely battered and was nailed on to lose.

Just found Darren Tills' jaw in my back garden I think, after it was just brutally removed from his dopey head

Dear me, what a ko. One of the best I’ve ever seen. That’s pretty much Thompson finished in that division

You don't just move up in weight class and carry your power with you, that's unnatural. But to move up in weight and not only keep your power but increase it to superman levels, that seems slightly strange to me.

All these weight cutters should take note. Being the bigger man in the ring isn't necessarily an advantage. Speed is more important than power. Both Pettis and Masvidal both KO'd men who'd never been KO'd before, due to their speed of punches. Both Till and Thompson simply didn't see the counter strikes coming.

Conor claiming he's retiring. Again. I wish he would, he's lost 3 out of his last 5 fights.
I suspect it's attempted leverage, again, though. The idiot told the ufc he'd only fight Cerrone, on non main event if they gave him a share of the company. Yeh, they tend to do that conor for people who have lost 3 out of their last 5.
I'd like to see him re-run the Khabib fight myself, see if Khabib can actually pull his head clean off this time.

It's two out of his last five. Even then, I don't think simply stating the record from his last handful of fights adequately sums up Connor McGregor's worth to the UFC.

Mors just hates Conor Mcgregor which is fine but the UFC needs Conor more than he needs them. Losing 2 out of his last five didn't reduce his star power. Pettis won the weekend and called out Mcgregor's name. Everyone still wants to fight him for the money and exposure it will bring.

Ufc some primal shit..
It's still in its infancy as a sport but it's a weird mix, thought I suppose most combat sports are similar.
Askren Olympic champion, champ at belator ONE fighting etc undefeated at MMA... Managed a win in his first UFC fight with some controversy, .. then after the shit talking to masvidal lasted 5 seconds before getting KO'd.
Masvidal wasnt bovvd gave zero after the ko with his celebration and then further made the point in the presser.

That was total bullshit, it should have been a draw, Masvidal clearly tapped out before the referee had pronounced Askren dead.

Pettis called him out cos who else is he gonna fight?
He's not at the level to call out the div champ and he's already lost to Ferguson.

That leaves Connor who isn't at the top level of that division anymore.and needs to prove himself again.
To suggest the UFC needs him more than he needs them is also ridiculous.
Any fight he manages to get now would need to be via the UFC otherwise he's finished and can retire UFC will still carry on without him.
There's enough happening without the Connor effect
