Keita could be on his way

Hope that translates to England and we don't lose a lot on the exchange rate.

Dreamy, you have this thing about thinking too much about the league, and not just looking at the fantastic attributes of the player. So with Salah, the dreamy method was thus- his impressive stats are from Italy and the Italian league is crap. Ergo, he'll be shite here. Unsurprisingly, you're banging EXACTLY the same methodological drum with Keita. Your methodology, as Salah has shown, is fucking shite.

Dreamy's methodology

He's gonna be boss for us for a year or two, then turn into a massive cunt as he tries to push for a move.

I get the feeling @Dreambeliever that you haven't really grasped how special this player is. Watch this:

I've seen a few of these now. You can absolutely see why Klopp is so keen on him .... he looks like the perfect player to knit our defence to attack. He actually has more dribbles per match than Coutinho !

The Italian league is shite. Salah has surpassed everyone's expectations and I hope Keita does too but I'll wait and see

Look at the player. Not the league. And although Salah has excelled beyond expectations, many people on here predicted he was a perfect match for this Liverpool team and Klopp's system and based that on the strengths of the player. You had fucking nothing. Only some simplistic and provably flawed assessment of the league that he plays in. So it goes with Keita. His strengths are such that he could play in any league in the world.

It's easier to say a player will fail, when more do than don't. It's not really any credible assessment of the player, just an opinion based on probability rather than actual observation of the player and his talent.

He might fail, then I'm sure there will be some oneupmanship to be gained or something -like Sturridge now being sold (those who pinned hopes on him regaining fitness and form are stupid), or saying Robertson would fail, because he's a UK player bought for a low fee.

That's all there was to both of those predictions, no real observation. Shown by the recent Robertson thread where he dismissed his form this season by saying he "didn't have a decent game until the derby", which is of course a load of codswallop. Or posting repeatedly about Sturridge that we should have thrown away his talent years ago (hindsight is great).

No I didn't have fucking nothing.
There loads of reasons to be very sceptical of the transfer and to say differently because he has been phenomenal is rubbish.

Like I said it's fantastic he's been so good but it doesn't mean the reasons for reservations weren't valid until he proved them wrong.

And for the record I've never said Keita will be shite I've simply said I hope what he's done translate over to England in full

You know what, I said in a recent thread that it might take time to bed him in. After all he's coming into one of the most difficult roles in the Premiership, where some great players have previously struggled (Veron, Ozil, Şahin, I'm sure there are loads of others). But his qualities are so obviously suited to how we play (good pressing, supports the attack, counters brilliantly) and what we've lost with Coutinho (an eye for the pass that no one else sees, great close control and touch). So in that sense, I can't see any reason but to be positive. He's not playing in a shit league, he's playing in one of the most notoriously difficult, dogged but technically excellent leagues (possibly one of the closest in style to our own). So weighing it up, he has everything it takes to succeed, even if there might be an inevitable period of adjustment.

That's the best argument I've heard for getting the player in as early as possible.

Agree with all of that, but a little weary about ‘an eye for the pass that no one else sees’, as I think Keita can be pretty blind in that respect at times.
Obviously he’s made great passes, and I’m sure highlights show that. But for me I expect all the other qualities you mentioned to be the predominant pluses he’ll bring. He’ll instantly become our best all round midfielder.
We really could do with a specialist creative midfielder though, whether it be Lemar or someone else.

The Bundesliga is pretty similar to the PL though, and he’s also performed well in the Champions League.

Agreed. I feel like we've almost lost two players with Coutinho, in the sense that he gave everything a wide attacking midfielder should give to a top side, in terms of assists and goals, but he also compensated heavily for our lack of penetrative quality in midfield. He dropped to pick the ball up deep and could do the only Alonso/Molby act of picking a 30-40 yard pass, perhaps not to the degree they did or with the consistent accuracy, but he's the only play we have who does do that. You could see how blunt we were against Everton without it and I'm not sure we can risk losing that over the rest of the season.

There are rumours that yesterday was his last game and his club are set to announce that shortly. Don't how true this is like.

The Bundesliga is very close. 2nd to 6th.
A club that wouldn't sell to us last summer, is suddenly going to let one of their best players go this window when a deal is already agreed for him?
