Borini with his second..

latched on to a poor back pass...

Looking sharp Borini... Good idea from BR to play him to get him match fit and get his confidence back on track...

Yes, I think we should be doing this more often with the ressies - it'll help a few of the bench warmers and it'll be good for the youngsters to play alongside them as well.

i am not seeing much sign of the brendan style of footie by our young lads, more down to the manure guys playing at home.

You will probably see that happen more often this season, given we are not in Europe...

FT LFC 4-Mancs 2.

Good run outs for Borini and Kelly. Kelly looked all over the place for about 60 minutes, but slowly regained some composure for the remainder of the game, finishing fairly strongly. Borini looked very good - sharp, his usual good movement and he took his two chances well. (His first goal, a free kick from just outside the area, was really interesting - it was more like an angled jab with the instep that sent the ball swerving all over the place.)

Ibe has another good game, although I was surprised he didn't use his pace more against these defenders. Maybe he was on orders to hold up the ball and link up play more than he usually does, but there were times when he could easily have outpaced his opponent and bombed on. He linked up quite well on the odd occasion with Borini, even though Borini's speed of thought meant Ibe was a little slow to release the ball to him.

Other decent, steady, performances from McLaughlin, Dunn, Morgan, Jones and Roddan.

Rossiter, though, was excellent - quick, great vision and full of fight, he played some really clever passes and generally looked older and more experienced than he is. Watch out for this lad, he's a special young talent.

I'm pleased Borini did well. Hopefully this will give him some confidence for the weekend if he's called upon.

I'm so sure this lad will be a boss for us

Yeah, I like him. I love crafty, tactically sophisticated Italian players and he has the technique and the nous to become a very useful player.

Good interview from Ibe after the match. He seems a really likeable lad. But I'm surprised if his teammates haven't yet nicknamed him 'Wotnot' because he uses the phrase about once every few words!

Rossiter is ridiculously good. I can't believe that he is 16! Two-footed and with the pass selection out of both Alonso and Coutinho's books. Dunn's not bad, either. Only worry is the central defence, both in terms of positioning and distribution. But good stuff, overall.

Is he the first Argie we've had here at this age?

Suso is playing on the right wing, well as a right wing forward. Great debut so far, he's been involved in both goals. Had a couple of decent attempts on goal too.
Looks confident and wants the ball.

2-2. It was expected. Almeria dropped deep and invited Villareal to attack.
A certain shite player who couldn't get Ipswich promoted scored.

The crowd seem to want the Almeria players to give the ball to Suso.
Huge roar when he gets the ball.

Suso is in for a long season at Almeria but hopefully be can impress.

Can't help but feel that Rodgers doesn't see a future for him at Liverpool though.
