Wouldn't know how it sounds, but in some of those cases (I'd explain which ones but I'm guessing folks don't want a Latin lesson here) it's flat wrong.

Doc's right IMHO. When you're using English, keep it English.
T'was a joke. Anyway, I read that it's a very varied pattern with words ending with -us, and it also depends on how well-established the usage of a particular plural form is.

Whatever the technicalities (and I was a Latin scholar too at one time) I like Duffuses. Maybe the generic should be a Duffusion.

Nigel Clough, the Sheffield United manager, has confirmed he will approach Liverpool for permission to retain Conor Coady’s services next season, writes James Shield.

But Clough, speaking ahead of tonight’s game against Stevenage, insisted talks about the midfielder’s future must not take place until after the Anfield club’s push for the Premier League title is resolved.
Coady, whose loan expires at the end of the season, has been a huge success since arriving at Bramall Lane last year and made his 45th appearance during Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Hull City.
“We’ll ask the question regarding Conor,” Clough told The Star. “Then see what response we get.
“In fairness, though. I think Brendan (Rodgers, the Liverpool manager) has got something a little more important on his mind at the moment rather than talking things through with us. So, out of respect for both him and Liverpool, we’ll wait until everything is done and dusted there.”
“Conor has, I believe, got a year left on his contract at Anfield so the decision is Liverpool’s to make,” Clough added. “What happens there might have a bearing, I honestly don’t know.
“They will decide what happens next and so, to be truthful, it is out of our hands. The same as it is with John Brayford at Cardiff.”

A Liverpool u17 squad have been competing in the Ajax tournament over the last few days, these are brief highlights of each of their 5 matches. They lost the final 2-1 to Ajax themselves. From the videos it looks like Ojo (number 14) and Wilson (number 5) completely dominated our attacking contributions. Ojo in particular is sensationally quick - pretty much Gareth Bale level. The videos are in the order the matches were played.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has introduced an Irish dimension to his vision for the club by personally involving himself in the successful pursuit of 14-year-old Dubliner Glen McAuley.
The talented St Joseph’s Boys striker was the subject of interest from all the leading English Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, but has now settled on Liverpool – in no small way thanks to the influence of Rodgers.
Such was the demand for the Clondalkin youngster that Alex Ferguson spoke to him directly in his office during one of his trials at United.
Not to be outdone, Ballymena native Rodgers made sure the Reds put their best foot forward by outlining their wish to sign him in face-to-face discussions with the player and his family.
It’s understood the Premier League title contenders have secured McAuley’s signature on a pre-contract, thereby removing any risk of being gazumped.
In accordance with Fifa rules regarding the transfer of minors, he won’t move to Liverpool on a full-time basis until his 16th birthday. McAuley has visited, and will continue to visit, the club’s Academy in Kirkby at regular intervals to maintain the same development programme undertaken by his peers signed from England and other countries.
The next fortnight is all about chasing the Holy Grail of the Premier League title for the Reds but Rodgers has been working behind the scenes in a bid to ensure long-term sustainability. As the 41-year-old cut his coaching teeth operating at Academy level for Reading and Chelsea, he appreciates the importance of recruiting and working with the best available young gems.
Despite not having a regular Irish presence in their first-team since Steve Staunton in the early ’90s, Liverpool have been extremely active in these parts over recent years.
Two current U19 internationals, Alex O’Hanlon and Dan Cleary, are part of the club’s youth ranks already while another, 15-year-old Conor Masterson, is due to join them on Merseyside next year.
Their latest capture first displayed his abilities while playing for Crumlin United, starring in their SFAI U12 national cup final victory over St Kevin’s Boys.
Last year, he and a number of his team-mates left Robbie Keane’s boyhood club, Crumlin, to join their former manager, John Bolger, at St Joseph’s Boys, who have produced the likes of Paul McShane and Andy Keogh.

sounded good until the last line !

Masterson apparently cost €1m when signed in 2012. Current captain of Ireland’s U16 team.

As for O'Hanlon...

[article=http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/soccer/teen-dream-comes-at-a-price-for-irish-players-in-england-253259.html]Predicting a youngster’s ascent is a tricky art but Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish made an exception during his pursuit of young Dubliner Alex O’Hanlon.

Back in 2010, Alex’s father was inundated with calls about his prodigious 13-year-old son from the cream of English academy figureheads — including Liam Brady at Arsenal and Manchester United’s Brian McClair — with even Real Madrid tabling an invite for a trial.

Liverpool impressed him most and, since his move to Merseyside, on-field progress has netted him an improved deal from Dalglish’s successor Brendan Rodgers.

“Kenny told Alex he’d be in his first team by 18,” his father Dominic recalled yesterday. “That sounded great but Kenny moved on. Alex will be 18 next April and, as well as he’s doing in the reserves, I’m not expecting a first team debut for him by then.”

After sampling what he describes as the ‘frenzy’ surrounding his son, Dominic can empathise with the current crop of parents dealing with cross-channel interest.

“One of the staff at Liverpool, who has since left, rang me every day for two months trying to sign Alex,” he explains. “After the deal was complete, the same person ignored me in the corridor at the training ground. I had to ask him, ‘why’? He was very honest in admitting he’d succeeded in recruiting the player he wanted and had moved on to the next target.

“Once the chase is over, everything fades away and you’re left missing your son who has left home for a different country. That’s the reality of the business.”[/article]

Beating clubs like Chelsea, City and Utd when it comes to these youngsters is brilliant. Lets hope McAuley or Masterson turns out to be the dogsbollocks.

Dunn: Anfield factor could be key

2nd May 2014
Jack Dunn believes the Anfield factor could be a big advantage for Liverpool U21s as they look to avenge their Old Trafford defeat last season when Manchester United arrive for the national semi-final play-off on Friday night.

Last season, this evening's visitors downed the young Reds 3-0 in the last four of the Barclays U21 Premier League play-offs, before going on to become national champions after overcoming Tottenham Hotspur.

Kick-off at Anfield is at 7.45pm BST; tickets for the Kop are available to purchase now, while the game will also be broadcast live on LFC TV and LFCTV GO from 7.15pm. Click here for details.

Alex Inglethorpe's side finished second in the league and head into this tie in fine form after firing 55 goals in 21 games this term.
Dunn came off the bench during last season's Old Trafford loss; the 19-year-old Scouser therefore explained why the players cannot wait to step out at Anfield once again.

"This year it's a totally different team and we have a younger team," the attacker told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I think the home advantage is a big thing for us this time and hopefully we can put one over United.

"It's been magnificent for us to play a few games at Anfield this season. That is where you want to play, week in, week out.

"We have played excellent football this season and to get the opportunity to play at Anfield - the home advantage against United - I think that's a massive confidence boost for the lads if we get a good turnout.

"We've been working so hard, we are together as a group and we are desperate to try and become national champions. We have got a lot of confidence and we want to beat United and go all the way to the final now."

Dunn was also quick to point out his gratitude to coach Inglethorpe, who he feels has helped his game flourish this season.
The Kirkby graduate has fired 10 goals in a new central attacking role throughout the campaign and is the top scorer for the U21s.

He was called up to the first-team squad for last Sunday's Anfield clash with Chelsea and, despite not making the bench, warmed up with Steven Gerrard and co before kick-off.

He added: "Alex has helped me a lot this season. He has added different aspects to my game, like making more intelligent runs in behind the opposition.

"I have played in a few different positions this season and I'm trying to grasp the position of a No.9, which I think is my favourite position because I'm scoring goals and I'm contributing to the team.

"I do feel my game has really come on leaps and bounds under Alex. I know there is still a lot of hard work to do but I'm really grateful to Alex and he's a great coach to work under."

[article=http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/live-liverpool-fc-news-views-7062686]Jon-Arild Vatne via Twitter: Hi! Are any of the biggest talents from the U21s and the loanees likely to feature much for the 1st team soon?

I'd say the next youngster who is knocking on the door is Jack Dunn. The Liverpool-born 19-year-old attacker has been training at Melwood and was part of the warm-up with the first-team squad prior to last weekend's big game against Chelsea. Midfielder Jordan Rossiter, who has been on the bench for the first-team this season, is another highly-rated teenager coming through.[/article]

Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson weren't in the U-18 squad that beat Bolton U-18s 4-2 today. Guess they'll probably be involved in the U-21 playoffs semi-final game against Man Utd at Anfield that's starting in a few hours.

edit: Neither was the right back Connor Randall.

Rossiter misses the game with a knee injury. Wilson and Randall on the bench. McLaughlin is back to start at RB for the game. Teixeira starts.

What a bunch of wankers those Manc fans are
Singing their Stevie G song at an under twenty one match.
FFS

I've heard that the United kid Wilson is pretty useful. I saw Tom Lawrence on loan at Carlisle and he's another scum kid who has serious talent. Looking forward to seeing if McLaughlin is nearly ready to step up to the 1st team.

According to Owen Texeira has lovely feet.
I am curious to know what they look like now.

Mancs all over us at the moment. Smith with a bad pass that almost gifted them a goal, and then got burned easily on another. The lads need to settle down fast and get into their rhythm.

All Liverpool for the last ten minutes without creating much.
Texeira being a boss

Much better from us now. Not opening them up but at least we've settled into the game and have had a lot of ball possession to control the pace of the game, rather than let the Mancs run full pelt at us in the first 6 to 7 minutes.
