LFC 0 Sun 1. Several mishit crosses confuse the defenders and the ball is driven into the corner. A bit against the run of play although this is a decent Sunderland team and nicer to watch than the senior one.

Kelly looks better at RB, even though I'm sure he's destined to be a CB. He's made a couple of decent runs forward tonight, appearing fitter than in recent outings. Shocking posture, though, he'll be swinging from the bells at Notre Dame if he slouches any more.

Luis Alberto started poorly again but has improved quite a bit now. A few clever touches, including a gorgeous chipped pass into the box that just eluded a teammate. The trouble is that Sterling is his main target ahead and Sterling isn't anticipating any passes at all. Sterling's making the odd promising solo run but he's woefully unaware of the movement around him.

Ibe looks much better. He's an integrated team player as well as a great individual threat.

LFC 0-Sun 2. Phenomenal solo goal (a bit like Sturridge's against Villa, but from a more acute angle) by Karlsson, who looks a fantastic prospect. Liverpool aren't doing badly and certainly don't deserve to be two down but that was pure class.

LFC 1- SUN 2. Great build up down the right by Kelly, passes it across to Dunn to slip it past the keeper.

1-2 HT. Interesting game. There's not much in it, just poor final balls by us. Ilori looks class. Flanagan, playing LB, actually looks much better than he's done for a season or so.

Yeah, Ilori has impressed as has Brannagan, for me. Alberto has shown glimpses of his talent, needs to get in the game a bit more. Sterling looks clueless at times

2-2. :Luis Alberto! That'll do him the world of good.

3-2. About a couple of minutes later, Ibe does great down the right, drags it across, Sterling (who looks like he's a talking-to during the break) just manages to scramble it over the line.

A minute after that, Flanagan, who is playing so much better in this game, bombed down the left to the touchline, pulled back, passed to Dunn who struck the ball just past the far post.

Great start to the second half.

Credit to whatever Inglethorpe said and did at half time because the team is so much better this half. Sterling way better down the left, Ibe terrific again down the right, Dunn aggressive down the middle, and the width and pace has made us far more dangerous.

Lloyd Jones tackled badly, he reacted rashly with a shove and got a straight red. Down to ten men. Kelly now partnering Ilori at CB, Sterling filling in at RB while McLaughlin warms up.

Phenomenal try by Sterling, picks it up at RB midway through our half, bombs forward, hits the post. Not a great shot but excellent effort from a player unrecognisable from the first half.

4-2! Alberto's second. Brilliant run again by the revitalised Sterling, who hits a dream long high ball to Alberto, who brings it down on the run, takes it past the keeper, has the ball blocked on the line but he heads in the rebound. Tremendous work - you'd think we were the ones with an extra man.

Silly boy.

That foul on him was really cynical though. Not condoning Jones' reaction, but that foul was really bad. Their chap should've been yellowed twice and sent off as well in my opinion; once for the foul, and the next for his aggressive reaction to Jones' head charge.

Funny goal by Luis Alberto as well to make it 4-2.

Sterling is now linking up with himself down the right, he's playing like someone jabbed some cocaine into him at HT.
