The line up is pretty obvious

Mignolet

Clyne
Skrtel
Lovren
Gomez

Henderson
Milner

Coutinho
Lallana
Ibe

Benteke


Literally the only deviation from that I can see is Moreno for Gomez, but I'd still make that pretty unlikely.
 
I've been so disappointed with Lallana this preseason. He really has no strength or pace to beat a man. I was hoping last years disappointment really was due to the injuries. And then you add on all the chances he fluffed last year, nah, can't wait until he's on the bench.

*I was initially very excited about the signing and happy to give him time. But I just don't see it now that I get to watch him this much.

That's a ridiculous assessment because Lallana does not rely on strength or pace but is more than capable of beating his man, and does so frequently, in the way Garcia or even Coutinho, are not strong or pacey but could/can still dribble rings around their opponents at times.

Pretty sure Firmino is behind on fitness and will more than likely start on the bench. Tekkers I'm not sure at all where his fitness stands but the fact he missed out on Finland isn't a good omen, hope I'm wrong.

You must be joking. Rodgers would never start Origi away against stoke. His first start in the PL. How can you even think that? Two young strikers away against Stoke after a 6-1 trashing last game. Mind blowing.

He didn't say two, he said one or the other. I think going off recent games and the fitness of Benteke and Firmino, we'll see more or less the team that started yesterday, with Benteke on the bench ready to come on.
 
I'm well fucked off Benteke didn't go to Helsinki. I mean he's meant to be playing today. Surely half an hour with the players he's gonna be expected to work with from next week would have been better.
 
Maybe he wanted to give as many players as possible 90minutes, hence the two games, still it's baffling.

It'll be Ings most likely. But if you think there's zero chance of Origi getting the nod out of the two you're deluded.

For clarity, if Benteke is fit he starts. i just doubt he'll be ready.

Still no chance Origi starts. He will start his first game in the PL at home.

No Lucas then.....?! Look forward to seeing what Hendo and Milner will do for our defensive abilities.

We will approve compared to last season now that we have strikers and don't have to carry old boys players.

I really look forward to this season.
 
Lucas did loads to stop our humiliating 6-1 defeat, I don't really know where you're going with this point, we played him against them last time and we still got battered in midfield. Maybe we should just take the initiative and try to beat them.

The team, that won 70% more matches without Gerrard, was crushed that day. It's up to you to do the math. You came away with the conclusion that Lucas was shite or at fault for the defeat. Certainly not my conclusion.

He certainly didn't do much to prevent it, I didn't say he was shite or at fault, we conceded 6 goals with him sat infront of the backline, a few of those goals stemmed from areas around the box that he would, in theory at least, be protecting. Just because Gerrard was on his last legs, it doesn't equate to Lucas being any kind of answer for us. A useful option, yeah, but lets not pretend he's this perfect shield that will protect us from any opposition.
 
He also played in the game we won 5-3 at Stoke, so that's what, 9 goals shipped in two games with Wonderman in the centre.

Never said he was wonder anything. Just that he is probably our best DM when we are off the ball. If Hendo and Milner can solve this I'm all for it. They bring more to the game when we are in possession.

In won't go into a discussion about the 9 goals. It's a bit daft and I know you know that. He was playing there with Gerrard by his side. A hopeless task.

How's it daft? You're saying play Lucas to help us defensively, I've pointed out that in the last two seasons in the corresponding fixture, we've conceded 9 goals with him playing.

How's that not relevant?
 
I dunno, but I'd guess it's the least successful career of anyone who's been at Liverpool for 8 years in the last century, and I think settling for shite like him is the reason.

He may get past one or two, but at the telling moment he is almost always bowled over. He got pushed off the ball getting into the box 3-4 times against the Finns. Coutinho is much more sturdy than he is and when he gets bowled over its usually a foul given because there is actually some force behind it. I've never quite seen a player get pushed off the ball as many times in a game as he does and because he is so weak it almost never results in a free kick. He may make it work but I doubt it, especially on the wing.
 
Lallana has been pretty good in the pre season games I've seen (all bar HJK).

If Benteke is fit enough he'll start if not then probably Ings.

Lucas isnt good enough. He's not a top 4 player. We need an upgrade.

You've heard of form and past performances right? Lovren is a good defender. But he didnt finish the season that strongly and he hasnt impressed so far in pre season. So he shouldnt be starting.

Skrtel - Sakho should be the prefered pairing when the season kicks off and then its up to Lovren to get back to old form and challenge them.
