Quite different. He is getting rightful credit for not only finding some success with Bolton, but finding success by having them play proper football. I remember watching them 3-4 games after he took over and thinking "Is that Bolton playing football?"

This is in contrast to Hodgson, who did great things with Fulham by simply getting them organized and defensive minded. And even more in contrast with Rednapp who has spent two fortunes to find success with Portsmouth and Fulham.

I think Coyle has rapidly proven he is an excellent coach, can get the best out players, and believes in playing good football. If you had a decent transfer budget and smart purchases, I think he would be excellent long-term choice. I also think that when you combine a DOF like Commoli, pure coaching ability is the key attribute we should be looking for. He also seems to have very good man-management skills.
 
He's won zilch though. I'm not knocking him and he may go on to prove himself a top notch manager but he would be too much of a gamble given he's only managed at the top level for less than a year.
 
Coyle to Arsenal??? It will be someone French. Everyone thought it would be Le Guen, but he has gone backwards in the last couple of years.
 
I think Wenger will stick around a while yet.

He'll want to get some recent silverware before he retires to ensure his legacy isn't tainted too much.

I remember last season (i think it was anyway) when Barca battered Arsenal for the first 20 minutes at the Emirates. Sky Sports News put together a reel of premiership managers opinions on that game. Fat Sam, Mick McCarthy, Roberto Martinez et all were all going on about how awesome Barca were, as you would expect. I remember being struck by Coyle's reaction to that game, whilst all others praised Barca he only spoke about Arsenal and said it was an unbelievable achievement to come back and not lose that game (it was a 2-2 draw) and how Wenger had built a team with amazing fight and resolve and that he of knew of no other team in Europe who could have done that. He also has Wilshere on loan at Bolton at the time so there is clearly a healthy, respectful relationship established there.

Yep this. Let's see how he does for a while yet.
 
I'm with the Sheik on this.

Coyle is showing promise and is certainly someone to keep an eye on, but a club of our size deserves a manager with a more substantial record than Coyle has so far produced.
