I don't really care.
He's an average player who scores 6 or 7 goals a season against weak opposition andnever ever turns up in big games. He doesn't know when to pass and frustrates the living shit out of me.
Massive meh from me.
Oh dear.
Oh dear yourself. I'm not arsed at all, he's ok, decent squaddie, but it's all a bit so what from me. Like I said at the time, his best position is gerrards.
It's not the greatest of summaries though given that he averaged closer to 10 goals a season for us and does turn up in big games with the most recent being our semi-final against A.Madrid.

The Gruniard said:
Yossi Benayoun has, according to reports, agreed to join Chelsea on a four-year contract from Liverpool, although it is believed that both clubs have yet to agree on a fee.

Chelsea have reportedly been pursuing the Israeli international for some time and see him as an ideal replacement for Joe Cole, who will leave the club next month after failing to agree terms on an extension to his deal at Stamford Bridge.

Benayoun has been a moderate success at Liverpool since joining for £5m in July 2007 but supposedly fell out with now former manager Rafael Benítez during the last campaign and has been looking to leave Anfield ever since.

According to the Israeli Sport 5 website, the 30-year-old has finalised personal terms with the Premier League champions, but the move is far from completed. Chelsea, it is believed, do not want to spend more than £4m on the player while Liverpool want closer to £10m.

Liverpool are currently without a manager following the departure of Benítez earlier this month and it is also possible that his replacement, widely expected to be Roy Hodgson, could demand that Benayoun remains at the club. It is likely, though, that a compromise will be reached shortly that will see the former West Ham player return to London

So no fee's been agreed? Well, good. He's still our player then. Let those bastards pay through the nose for him - and make sure Broughton isn't in charge of negotiations.

And?

I understand that Bendtner is a decent player (at least) but he is the biggest MEH I can think of (for me) in the prem - everyones allowed an opinion - and the summary probably isnt that far off - probably shouldnt be in our first team, and the fact that he was at times one of the better performers probably says more about how badly we were playing than it does about Yossis "class"

From what I've heard, Yossi was told before the season end that his time was up at Anfield. Whether that was a Benitez decision or a Board decision I don't know but I think the transfer has been on the cards for quite some time and makes the decision to sell while no manager is in place a bit less worrying.

He's got to be the least inspiring signing they have made in years
And yet Ancelotti, who just won the double, wanted him on his team. I know you're excellent at predicting Anfield flops long before any of us ordinary Joes do, but it says enough that the best team in England wanted him. If anything, he's now left a hole in our squad as who exactly can come off our bench to change games? Babel? He's gone. Who else? Pacecho? Yah, next. El Zahr? Ding Ding Ding.

If the money recived is spent on Arda Turan or someone like that, then I'm okay with this.

Yossi has been a good squad player, extremely up and down but he has given us some much needed creativity. As said above, if someone is brought in then fine. 30 years old and apperantly on 75,000k a week.

I would change my tune if Arda Turan was his replacement.

He's 30 and was offered a 4 year deal at £75k a week from the Premiership winners after (apparently) being told he had no future at his current club.

I bet he bit their hand off. And who could blame him?

Babel's gone?

Incidentally I do think Pacheco could develop into a game-changer. He's a different type of player altogether though, a striker as opposed to a midfielder.

Benayoun, who has three years left on the £75,000-a-week deal he signed last summer, is a cheaper option and is expected to return from holiday in Israel early next week to discuss personal terms.

If he gets an even better contract at Chelsea, he's done well for himself.

If the rumours are true about us getting rid of first teamers that are not in the starting 11, and freeing up that cash to have a few high earners rather than plenty of players on pretty high salaries.

I e Degen, Voronin, Benny etc

Exactly. And regards Joe Cole, the fact he is forever injured is the reason he couldn't get in their team, not because he lacked the quality.

Yossi will be a good addition to the Chelsea squad, he can play the occasional good through ball and will weigh in with the goals. He came to us and started to score more, now he's going to Chelsea, so what's to say he won't do the same?

People are vastly underrating him, and always have done, he might have his flaws but he's a good player and we'll be hard pushed to find a replacement for the fee we'll receive for him.

He's a good player and I would have kept him but if he's leaving us for more money at Chelsea he can fuck off.

Not sure Mark - Cole was fit for the last couple of months of the season, and was outwardly displeased at not getting in the team, and he's clearly a better player than Yossi. Also, whos to say they wont strengthen again (Aguero) which further reduces space in the forward 3 (which has got to be the only place he's getting in the side).

Well they've got a great squad so you could well be right, and I agree re Cole, but you know what managers can be like regards likes and dislikes over players, maybe he just didn't fancy Cole as a player for whatever reasons.

I just think Yossi might prove a good addition. He's a been a good signing for us and has flourished with better players around him, he (and Kuyt) actually came to the fore more in the absence of Gerrard and Torres the season before last, he might do the same at Chelsea. I'm not saying he's a World Beater but he's well worth a place in the squad of a top side.

He's 30.

What the fuck are Chelsea doing offering him a 4+ yr contract.

If we got a decent fee for him... then so be it... his best is behind him... we could spend the money on a much younger player who could have as much of an impact (Note. if the manager gets to spend the money).

I wonder if our Chairman will do his bes to screw as much money out of Chelsea as possible... or will he consider that an operational rather than Board issue.

We haven't even got a manager at the moment. I doubt we'll be signing anyone anytime soon - that's the frustrating thing about this deal being done now.

Why do people think Broughton has anything to do with this? I've seen other forums having own threads about Broughton and what a crap job he's doing at that he has a hidden agenda.

I find this very amusing. He's here to find a buyer for the club, not much else.

He'll stay well out of it - much too big a risk of conflict of interest.

I don't agree that Yossi's best years are behind him yet (IMO he could well have another couple of years left at the top) but I'd have thought they will be by the time this apparent 4 or 5 year deal is up.

Thanx Yossi. He was unhappy and had to go. I just hope the fees don't disappear into the debt repayment chasm!

Soccernet is reporting 7 M GBP for a transfer fee at 80,000/wk wages. So he's not leaving for the money if he was on 75k here.

Sad to see him leave because I don't think we have a player who can fill his role. Would like to wish him well but obviously I won't.

He's leaving to lift a Premier League title before he retires. There's nothing wrong there, especially when Benitez under used him or played him in stupid positions.

Is there anything more fucking depressing than this sentence?

'Benayoun wants to leave Liverpool, but new manager Woy Hodgson may demand that he stays'

Just look at the fucking state of it.
Look at what it says about our club

Two fucking football non-entities like those two fucking clowns, embroiled in 'will he or won't he?' diatribes about LFC

I'm a bit disappointed in Yossi, but I can't say I blame him. Hopefully, if we can get a decent, younger replacement we won't miss him too much. Cheers for your time here Yossi. Can't say I wish you look in your future endeavours, though.
