Fuck me, I'd be well pissed off if Yossi went to Chelsea.

We have only three players capable of changing a game through attack or creativity. Yossi is one of them.

To let him go when you consider us scoring goals is our biggest problem would be stupid. To sell him to a Premiership rival would be insane.
It wouldn't be insane to sell him to Chelsea for £6m. He isn't going to improve them.
It's not going to improve us either.

It makes no sense to sell him when we won't get a better replacement at the same money. He's worth more to us than his current transfer value.

a) you don't know that (maxi was free and he is better)

and

b) yossi could be the one pushing for a move

I do know that. and Maxi isn't better.

Find a me an attacking midfielder that regularly scores around 10 goals a season that's available for £6m.

I'd keep Yossi, but only if he wants to stay. He's yet to deny that he really wants to go to Chelsea.

Maxi scored twice for Argentina yesterday.
Hope he has a good WC and comes back uninjured and full of confidence.

I might be quiffing but didn't anyone else think "bullshit" to the article when it mentioned that Mascherano was on Chelsea's radar? The last time I looked people in London don't speak Spanish that well (some stuggle with English!).

Isn't Harry Harris a Chelsea fan?

yes he is. a far more intelligent player who actually knows when to release the ball.

maxi - 'free'

AM
05/60 - 11 goals
06/07 - 6
07/08 - 8
08/09 - 9
09/10 - 8

Spidey we can't sign Maxi cos he already plays for us.

Who is going to replace Yossi ?

I just showed you an attacking midfielder who averages roughly 9 a season who was free, who knows what we'll get spending 6m
we could offer that 6m to joe cole as wages and would have improved the team because cole actually plays half decent on the left unlike yossi who is shit there.

I'm not a massive Yossi fan, he's quite inconsistent. But 6m wouldn't better him, so there's no point in it.
I think retrospectively people will regret selling him if of course the rumour is true.
If we were cash rich then fine let fringe players who want to leave leave. But we aren't so if the deal
isn't unquestionably better for us (for yossi I'd say 15m given that Wigan are demanding 12m for n'zogbia and villa have turned down 20+m for milner) why do it.

Maxi & Kuyt can fill the right.

Gerrard & Acquilani can fill the centre.

Benayoun's gash on the left.

6m for a 30 year old - sell, sell, sell. We might actually be able to give Pacheco a proper crack at the first team.

Maxi (a good player whom I rate) is way slower. Deadly, bless him, is a workhorse who'll never be a title-winning RM and is going to be needed as stand-in up front for some of the time anyway. Gerrard's needed further back, and to say the jury's out on Aquilani would be a major understatement. Benayoun's less good on the left than he is elsewhere, but has still managed to look dangerous when most around him were failing miserably to do so. And we'll not come even close to replacing him for the fee being talked about.

Apart from that, agree 100%.

I should add that given we've just signed Jovanovic who can play on the left wing.

Granted he's probably more of a replacement for Riera, but we can get rid of Benayoun along with Babel, Riera & El Zhar and put that money to some use.

I'd lay odd that if gerrard stays he will still be used further up the pitch. I think rafa will cut his losses with aqua and reinvest the money on a CM

That doesn't factor the uncertainty about Masher into the equation though. If he goes, I expect Gerrard to play deeper more often, especially since Aquilani (even if he stays) will play further forward or not at all. Even if Masher stays, we're not exactly awash with options at DM and I still suspect Gerrard would play in either position at different times.
