Set up both goals that sank the scum tonight.

Should we be looking at snapping him up ?

Ive sung his praises many times in the past.
No one listened.
Im not doing it again.
Remember me when he is Messi x 2.

He looks like he's eaten a wheelie bin worth of Creatin.
He is well chunkeh.

A few people have mentioned him in the past alright, the problem is though a game like that against one of the most watched sides in the world does a lot for his asking price.

Yep, he's a fantastic talent. Every club in Europe will be after him now. Should have signed him in the summer.

How much would he have cost then ?

And where does he play ?

Right and left wing. I dont know, 12-18 mill maybe. 15 caps at the age of 20 and one of the biggest talents in Europe = massive fee

I'm tempted to go back and remind you of your defence of the Downing signing !

BUT WE'RE NOT IN THE CAPIT..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Seriously we should have signed him in the summer, looked great in the U21s. And would have been about a 5th of the price of Downing. And 8 years younger.

He looked a handful all right, and he looked pretty raw, some of his decision makeing was gash, even for a youngster, but I think his body would explode if he does nay more weights, and as I said in many ways looks too similar to Suarez

regards

Shoulda, woulda, coulda... same old story.

I'm just happy I wasn't with camp "Downing will improve our squad" during the summer or Johnson for that matter...

Also Modo - You'll advocate signing Nzogbia but not Johnson - when their true values probably aren't miles apart.

Have you actually seen much of Adam Johnson? He was superb for City at times last season and even in an England shirt and that's saying something!
I'll try to describe my view of Adam Johnson without using any profanity etc.

Let me start by saying that I was somewhat impressed with Adam Johnson while he still was at Middlesbrough. Probably when he just had his breakthrough. Looked very talented, though I didn't see much of him.

The reason I don't rate him is basically because I think he doesn't have any real game intelligence.
OK, he's quick, does some step overs and he can get passed the fullback from time to time. But IMO that isn't nearly enough.
I like wingers who can cut inside, switch positions with the one playing in the hole, provide through balls, crosses, finds team-mates, creates space...basically someone like Iniesta, Mata, Silva, Hazard, Xherdan Shakiri, Özil, Nuri Sahin even Wilshire and Ashley Young to some extent.

You'd probably not label any of these players as a "winger", but I'm really not that stuck on the word. These are examples of players who can start out wide but drift inwards swap positions etc. Basically team players, very able passers.

Give us some names that would have got you excited then...

Hazard, Mata, Banega, Lavezzi, Navas, Pastore and Shakiri.

I can't say that I'm that pleased. Had that list included Mata I'd be overjoyed.
Pleased no. Content yes.
Jesus, no pleasing some.
We've addressed some problem areas. Got a fantastic left fullback, a decent winger, a promising defender and some decent midfielders.
But I'm still missing the cherry on top. The so called marquee signing.
So no I'm not pleased. I would have loved to have someone like Mata, Hazard, Shakiri, Lavezzi, Aguero etc. That list of players would have looked so much better.

Still can't believe that some are still mentioning Adam Johnson. Tell you what, he just signed a new contract. So forget him.
Basically, I don't want any more overrated/overpriced what ever you want to call it, English attacking players unless we're getting Wilshire or McEachran basically the only two young players I rate.
Of course there's Young and Rooney as well.

Basically we need two more attacking players one who can play behind the striker or on the wings, Jovetic or Shakiri and someone in midfield M'vila or Martinez.
Nah sorry Modo you said Shakiri and not Shaqiri, different bloke.
Anyways he might have come and made no more impact than Downing

Haha true.

He scored against England in a full international if I recall correctly. He looks a very decent player. Oncy did throw his name into the mixer during the summer. His price will rocket now I suppose.

Jovetic is a player I'd love to see at Liverpool, but unfortunately the player is not interested on a move to Liverpool.

And with Fiorentina looking set to lose Gila & Montolivo in January/Summer ... I cannot see them looking to offload Jovetic too. Jovetic might well push for a move though, but 100% not to LFC.

Hazard, Mata, Banega, Lavezzi, Navas, Pastore and Shakiri.

Be thankful that we didn't fork out 40M for Pastore.

Has anyone been following PSG this season?

Apart from 2 or 3 games, he has been woeful for PSG.

After a recent fixture against Marseille he was taken off after only 60 minutes and then dropped from the squad entirely for the next game!

This is his recent ratings by L'Equipe: 5 , 5 , 4.5 , 3.5, 2, 4, 1 , 4.5

And his overall attitude is questionable. He blames everyone but himself for his poor performances. It's quite lame, no one forced him to go to France and he should shoulder responsibility himself. He should discuss these matters with his manager and team-mates and not in the media.

He said his team-mates and all players in Ligue 1 are blind and play with their heads down, that the league is too defensive, and the teams in the league don't know how to play with the ball ... he said the coach doesn't know how to use him and hasn't given him freedom... just an endless list of excuses.

I really don't think you go from the shit to shit in 6 months. Pastore is a very able player, not worth the fee mind you but I wouldn't mind if he joined in January. Our type of football would suit him.

Jovetic is still my first choice though.

Don't get me wrong, he is a talented player.

For a player of his age to come out and criticise everyone but himself for his performances is incredible.

He claims French football is defensive and all about being physically fit ... well why didn't he observe this and take this into consideration before making the move to PSG? It just shows he was motivated by nothing but the big money.

He'll get another season at PSG to prove himself.

PM me next time Ryan. Such high-brow humour is wasted upon this lot.

There was nobody on here genuinely banging on about this guy. There were one or two people who said we could take a look at him - mainly the Scandinavians on the site - but that's it.

Now that he's had a decent game in the CL everyone is like WHAT DID I SAY! and boy, we fucked up!

Some of those were big fans of the Downing signing and over the moon after our summer transfer activity. Can't have it both ways.

Some of these were for the Downing signing ....

Downings hit the woodwork 3 times this season, if it we 3 goals no one would question 'The Downing signing'
