Don’t know anything about a coup; but there were a number of explosions at military bases all over Belarus yesterday and as of now no clear explanation for these have been given.
I thought they 'were' in Belarus.. according to most western intelligence 100% of the build up of armoured troops are now inside Ukraine. Only logistics remain on the other side of the border.

I think the Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe release probably belongs in this thread.
As much as I'd like to believe her husband's protest activity or the UK government paid Iran out of some great humanitarian motive got her home, I think that's naive.
They almost certainly did it because Iran is the 7th biggest oil producer in the world and the Russian invasion of Ukraine has shifted the paradigm on western need of oil vs perceived enemies.

I'm posting this in here as a reply to Ross and everyone else involved in recent spats on here, as there's clearly an issue that's going on between some posters that needs addressing, I'm not singling out Ross, we'd like to ask everyone to follow the forum principles. We're one of the most relaxed forums out there, if not THE most relaxed, within (some) reason. But given us mods have been receiving alot of reported posts of late from different forum members, it's clearly getting a bit out of hand and needs addressing.
If members want consistency in moderating, I honestly can't see much consistency between the bite backs from normally affable posters, and other posters repeatedly and deliberately (daily) calling people stupid (to Rurik), or mongs (to Woland, Mystic, Hansern, etc), or whatever else. It goes on, you know it does, please stop it now. There's heated arguments and name-calling in the name of debate and there's personally targeting people and then bringing in people's personal lives - this really does stop.
The same posters are repeatedly obtuse towards other posters in these threads, particularly in GC - you know who you are, but as soon as you get called out for it, you are pointing to the times when you are given a bit back. It's not the same, you know that. If you don't you're on another planet, so please don't treat us like idiots, when we're doing this off our own back, in our own time.
If you want the place to be what you perceive as "fair",then maybe rein it in a bit if you are giving it out. We all know censoring and fairness isn't the real issue, some posters seem intent to just come here, give it out as much as possible and then cite some perceived hypocrisy when they get pulled up on it. This also stops now or seriously, just find another forum. Stop being dickheads.

Utterly shitty comments? I come into this thread every day and the content is predictable. The same people giving it holier-than-thou assaults on everyone else.
And the "utterly shitty" comments you cite, which ones? The one where Mamma Mia quoted a line from your own post in italics? The one where Brizzle mentioned something about Bono? Is that the same as you calling people mongs? It's not, you know it's not.
The crux of the argument has stemmed from the same people being obtuse and playing games of oneupmanship over politics, over already sensitive topics. The shitty comments you're referring to in the context of the daily content in this thread aren't even of the same consistency. Are they? If you believe that you're having a laugh.
