If we could only buy Thiago if Gini leaves, would you be happy with a swap?

I'm not sure Fabs further up the pitch works so well.

To be honest I don't fully also get the idea how we have formed the idea the Thiago is a slacker. Klopp managed to fit coutinho in his system...so he will find a way for Thiago more easier than that.

KdB, both Silvas, fernandinho, pogba, fernandes, henderson, fabinho, milner, keita. 10 and I've only looked thirty miles so far

I'm not saying he doesn't have his moments, he's occasionally great, but he's definitely replaceable

According to Bayern fans however Thiago has been playing both 6 & 8 (unfortunately not at the same time otherwise that would enable us to play another forward) ! It depends on the opposition. Though about 75% at 6.

People say that at 29/30 he won't have the stamina our players do - yet half our team are at that age and it doesn't seem to stop them, likely due to Klopp's conditioning. Thiago's attacking and defensive stats are outstanding so I don't see an issue wherever he plays, and again Klopp loves flexibility and he seems to offer that. It certainly would mean that if either is injured/tired we would not be without a specialist DM.

The murmurings are now not funds but trying t keep 7 MF happy. Why are people looking at Wini out and Thiago in, and not say Shaq out or Ox out and Thiago in?
 
Gini's mini strop when he was benched for the Barca game suggested he was maybe a tad more temperamental than the others. I doubt he'd be as understanding as Milner if he's rotated more often in future. But this idea about keeping everyone happy - they're at the most successful side of the year, if they're not happy being there then feck them.
 
Ox is out for 8 weeks and cannot be relied upon.

Just bring in fucking thiago and try and keep gini

I guess one positive is that if Gini wants to go to Barca - that’s a Transfer that has to be completed now - because there’s very high chance that Koeman won’t be their manager by the end of the season - based on the fact that the winner of the next Barca Presidential election will likely want to install Xavi.

I’m all for keeping it AND bringing in Thiago.

Surely it’s a good thing if it allows us to alter our tactics when we need to?

I don’t see the issue with adding another midfielder - every year we moan about how tired looking the players look and we can be assured that Hendo & Naby will be spending time with AOC in the treatment room.

Bartomeu goes, Font comes in
Koeman goes, Xavi comes in
Gini returns to us
We sell Ox to Barca

I voted "No" and feel very sure about it. We won the title and the CL with Gini, we can do it again.
 
The question is kinda loaded in a way. I wouldn't be happy to see Gini leave, and I don't see Thiago as a like for like upgrade. I'd rather keep what we have.

However, if Gini left, I'd be okay with Thiago coming in, I suppose. So I'm not sure what to answer on the poll.

Basically I’m asking if all things being equal, people would prefer Thiago or Gini in the team (if we can only have one). I tried to phrase it clearly, apologies if it wasn’t.

I just changed the options of the poll to allow people to change their votes in case the question got them confused.

I wasn't having a go at you or anything, no need to apologise. If you said to me now, no contract disputes or whatever else, Gini or Thiago? I'd stick with Gini.
 
I've voted yes. There's no respect to Gini, but I think Thiago is a better all round player and desperately wants to be here for the next 3-4 years. Gini clearly doesn't.

We also speak above the need to evolve to emulate our success. Both Keita and Thiago can help increase the productivity from midfield. Bayern play a similar style to us so I don't envisage any adaptation period.

The risk is Thiagos injury record, but he's been absolutely fine this season. I think the benefits outweigh the negatives.

Perhaps there was some confusion on account of 15 and 50 sounding very similar when spoken out loud.
 
Yep, but I do expect any fee to be in the region of £25m - £30m because of his contract, age, Covid effect..
