Latest Liverpool video - "'Outstanding Liverpool must keep calm'"

If Liverpool had got their hands on summer targets Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa - would the Premier League be effectively done and dusted?
This summer Liverpool made two unsuccessful moves for players that now look increasingly like big misses.
They move for Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shakhtar Donetsk - reportedly meeting his apparent release clause of £23.6 million for the attacking midfielder.
However Borussia Dortmund also met the same fee - and the maestro went to Germany instead, stating:
"Yes, I had many options. But I decided on Dortmund because I like the type of football that is played here…I have come to Dortmund to play and not to sit on the bench, as might initially have been the case in England."
They also made a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
Brendan Rdgers had obviously seen something in him - despite the Brazilian born striker living in the shadow of Radamel Falcao.
So he met his release clause of around £20 million in August. But just days later he signed a new deal to remain at Los Colchoneros - speaking of his decision a few days later:
"I had the chance to leave. I was about to do so. Liverpool are a great team. But, after so much fighting and overcoming many difficulties to earn my place at Atletico, how was I going to leave?”
But my question is this - if Liverpool had signed these two, would the league be wrapped up already?
Liverpool are surging back into title contention toward the end of this season - and their fans are daring to dream of a first ever Premier League title.
But they may have left it all a little too late - with Costa and Mkhitaryan would things have been different.
The fact is Costa has scored 26 goals in 30 appearances this season - as well as bagging four assists. Add him to the Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge equation and Liverpool would have the best front three in the country by a country mile.
Mkhitaryan could have played the attacking midfield role Phillipe Coutinho does with ease - giving Rodgers plenty of opportunity to rest the delightful but delicate footballer.
Mkhitaryan has had some injury problems - but his recent form is stunning and in his 26 appearances he has accumulated seven assists and eight goals.

If these two had chosen Anfield - likely if Liverpool were in the Champions League - I genuinely believe The Reds would have the title sewed up already.
As it is they have a fight on - but convincing players of this calibre to sign in the summer should be a walk in the park.
Would these two have done the business?

i wonder about costa ..where would he have fitted in with suarez and sturridge up front ? he looks more like a central striker so would they have had to play around him ? If they had got him might they have let suarez go ?

anyway let's hope we get champ league football or more and can then attract these sort of players .

Mkhitaryan would have been a good long-term buy for us.

Costa, brilliant as he's been, would have likely meant that Sterling would not have got his chance this year.

Is there not a theory that having too many ball-demanding players can be a negative?

I was speaking with lads at work that were adamant that if Suarez started the season at Chelsea, at the very minimum he'd have scored as many as he has done so far but would likely be outscoring his current self.

I'm not sure having Costa,Suarez,Sturridge would have the right amount of balance outside of fantasy football.

That's an abysmal article. As pointed out, we were never in for both at the same time, and it's not much of a hypothetical either as SAS and Co would not likely have featured in the same way they have, which could have had a detrimental effect on where we are now.

He can't add either.

Since when did £23.6m & "around £20m" add up to £33.6m?

No we wouldn't be where we are with them. There has been only 3 games this season we mused having an extra attacker. Saints at home and Chelsea city away

Henri seems intent on coming to Liverpool in the future. Read an interview yesterday and he is open to move. Get in.

Having said that, the league isn't won in March.

What a shit "look at me, I know better than you lot" article. In fact it's not even an article, just a rehash of some quotes followed by a none too subtle answer to the question posed at the top of the article that is not backed up with anything else than then opinion of the writer.

Can anyone be journalist nowadays? It would seem so.

So just so as I understand...

We wouldn't have been better off - except in 3 games where we didn't get any points in.

So.... if they'd gained us points in games WE DIDN'T TAKE ANY FROM.... Does that not mean we would be in a better position?

West Brom away?

Villa home?

Arsenal away?

West Brom and Villa games mentioned:
-- How do attackers fix a bonehead defensive mistake and a tactical mistake sending guys out playing 4-4-2 and getting murdered in the first 45 minutes?

Arsenal away:
-- FA Cup or league? League was a poor performance, no doubt. FA Cup... well, we almost murdered them but for some uncharacteristic misses by Sturridge and Webb chickening out of a second successive peno.

As for the article in question - IF my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle, blah blah. Shit piece of work.

When it was 1-1 and 2-2 in those games we couldn't break them down. I mean we needed a quality option off the bench rather than anything else

And yeah in the league when we got battered. That was pre Sterling being boss though

We had attacking talent for Brom and villa just missed our chances it wasn't a case of not having enough attackers.
We were always going to lose to Arsenal away as we lost that game in cm

aye having a different option is good though.

Maybe we woulda maybe not but more good players couldn't have been a bad thing
