Yeah, thought that Aboucar or whatever was pretty good as well. He made an impact when he came on and looked sharp.

Oezil has impressed me most too. He's a rare talent and would be amazing in the hole behind Torres.

All been mentioned, but I'd take Sanchez, Salcido, Perez (if Mascher goes) and Dos Santos too, as we could fit them into our line-up.

----------------Torres
---Dos Santos Oezil Sanchez
-----------Gerrard Perez
Salcido Agger Carragher Johnson
----------------Reina

Looks good on paper.

Salcido
Ozil
Khadira
Barrera
Bradley
Jovanovic
Alvaro Perreira
Gyan
Kalu Uche

Yeah, I think Bradley has looked a handy player.

Cheers lads. I've been training for this moment all my life.

USA USA.

PS if you haven't got an Ö, then you make it an "Oe"

In my experience, not all Germans would agree in this instance. I've come across some in my time who reckon that rule applies only to German words or names, and O(e)zil's of Turkish extraction.

I'm still keeping my fingers firmly crossed that we're doing our utmost to sign up Simon Kjaer.

There's apparently a €12M clause for any interested foreign club still and those money would be well spent.

Obvisouly Inter is now been mooted as firm favourites for his signature (because of the Rafa-link) and are lining up an €18M bid according to a Sicilian newspaper.

Anyone took notice of his pass to Rommedahls before setting up Bendtner to Denmarks equalizer?

http://www.footytube.com/video/cameroon-denmark-jun19-50309 at around 4 minutes in. (PS If you don't have anything else to do those 10 mins of highlights are absolutely breathtaking to watch really).

BTW Kjaer has made errors thus far as well but he's still learning the trade only just turned 21. He'll be just fine I'm sure.

But is he really what we need?

I mean if players like Gerrard or Mascherano leave us then we need replacements for them along with a backup striker and a first team LB?

Can/should we really pay this amount of cash for a CB?

Gervinho as been the only stand-out player for Ivory Coast so far, despite a host of top class players. His goal-scoring record in France looks pretty average for a 'striker' though. If Rafa were still here he'd be all over him.

Don't know if he's been mentioned as I'm on my phone. That Elia for the dutch looks pretty handy.
[/quote]

I nominated him in another thread as a young player I fancy to make an impact in the tournament.

The Dutch as a whole seem a happier camp than they've been for quite a few World Cups now. Methinks they really could go a long way.

Annan of Ghana played well when i saw him. Young lad i think, played with maturity and did the simple things well

Elija looks like the player we all hoped Babel to be.

Re DWMouse. I reckon we are a class cb short as carra isn't getting any younger and i'm not convinced about Skrtel alongside Agger. We need a sami-like defender in the Air.

If we sell Gerrard and masher there'll be plenty of cash to buy replacements. Wheter theyll be good enough is an all different matter mind.

We'll have to watch him, and the rest of them, if we get through to the next round and have to play them. We probably wouldn't even be favourites as things currently stand.

But...but...but he's DANISH! 😉

Another great reason mate as he's probably not going to leave after a few years because of the weather.

Especially not this one as he underlined yesterday that despite everything Liverpool is his dreamdestination.

He could be 12 or 42 knowing the african countries

Salcido's having a solid World Cup, but PSV's really about his level.

I still want Slovakia's Vladamir Weiss on our right. And Elia on our left. And if I may pile on, Oezil looks fantastic as well.

i really liked Mphela, the south african striker. good speed, strong with both feet and a solid passer of the ball. perhaps would be a good cheap option for our 4th striker ...

He's impressed me a bit too mate.

That Portuguese LB as well as Uruguays Lugano are other good shouts.

Anyone saw the Argies LB last night? He was hot-damned quick. I liked him. He could be cover for Insua.

Or vise versa.

I'm not sure he is good enough for Liverpool (then again he is probably better than Lucas so....) but I do think Michael Bradley is Premier League quality. He has been excellent for the US the past couple of years and he might have been our best all around play so far this world cup.

He is good at holding the ball up, plays the holding midfielder role well but also can get forward and makes smart cutting runs. He is strong in the tackle and he has a bit of a mean streak which I love. Not to mention he is extremely football smart from what I can tell.

Oezil has been the find of the tournament. Thought some of the Ghanians looked excellent, if they would only shoot.
