Benzema's impressed for me playing the lone front man. Can't say I've ever been that impressed by him for Madrid but he's some player with his best years to come.

He looked good yeah, but that was down Ronaldo's side, so it was pretty much 2 versus the 1 Portugal full-back for the entire night.
Yeah, Manolas has looked very good in the last few matches. We've been linked to him in the past as well.
His boots will be really expensive though.

DeAndre Yedlin ... US RB ... SIgn him and loan him to Belgium for a few years until he gets his permit. Will be a top notch RB for years to come.
I'm very sceptical of the World Cup as a method of scouting players. When Houllier tried it, we ended up with Diouf and DIao.
It's interesting to note that some of the star performers in World Cup teams are players we might have got excited about, were they not on the fringes of struggling Premier League and Championship club sides! For example, Odemwinge looked good for Nigeria!

MLS players don't earn much. Kinda weird since big spending would really raise the profile of the league, but the salary cap prevents that.

My Italian mate was going on all game how Juve should sign up this Yedlin kid before someone else does. Looks a terrific prospect for RB. Not sure how good he is defensively though. But his decision-making and crossing was out-of-this-world good for such a young player.
While I don't disagree, I think we signed both those players before the World Cup, they just happened to have good World Cups after it.

You are remembering wrong! Senegal's impressive showing in the 2002 World Cup drew the attention of a number of Premier League clubs including Liverpool. It was after the competition that Houllier signed up Diao and Diouf.
Actually I think Diouf was a better player than most people on this forum give him credit for. He was a bit of a warrior and had some great games for Liverpool, including the League Cup final against Man United in Cardiff when he destroyed Gary Neville.
