A few games in and there's already some players showing real potential. Keep your world cup scouting in here...

I'll start:

Serge Aurier - Stood out for me in the Ivory Coast/Japan game last night. Powerful, willing, pacy runner with a mean whipped cross and attacking mentality from right back. Aggressive and strong in the tackle, at 21 (but looking mid-twenties) he's got oodles of potential to fulfil but would arguably slot straight in at Anfield on last nights showing. A real 24 carat talent apparently available from Toulouse for 12m or so?

I thought Darmian at RB for Italy was pretty good, although he was obviously helped by Rooney being a lazy git. Will be interesting to see how he fares in the other games.

Yup - we are linked to him (as are the Gooners). I've never watched him, bar this game, but he seems extremely talented.

As Studsup said, the Italian RB (torino lad?) looked really really good ...

Joey Campbell looks like the real deal ... WP issues should continue

Daley Blind did well against Spain at left wingback. Cuadrado looked lively for Colombia as well

Blind is the second best left back for Ajax. He did look good the other night but I don't think he is good enough defensively for us.

He usually plays in midfield these days.

We could have had him for free last year.

Didn't know that, it was the first time I've seen him play and he was quite impressive.

Rodriguez of Switzerland playing well against Ecuador right now too, very good on the ball

His passing was fantastic.

He got Eredivisie Player Of The Year last year following the mighty Bony.

Rodriguez has looked good so far.

Other full-backs I'm keeping an eye out for:

LB: Mena (Chile), Schennikov (Russia), Rojo (Argentina)
RB: Aurier (Ivory Coast), Vrsaljko (Croatia), Janmaat (Holland)

Aurier's assists were apparently his first for his country. I know he's highly rated, but sounds like it could be a bit of a case of buyer beware.

I think Jackson Martinez, who only came on as a sub, looks to be massively overrated based on his performance yesterday.

I'm not convinced that World Cup performances are a reliable guide for scouting purposes.

Remember when Houllier went to the World Cup and came back with El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao?

Antoine Griezmann
Candreva
Shaquiri

For the record three players I have wanted for a long time.
🙁

And Valbuena, his set pieces and movement has been great

Jason Davidson, Australia's left back.

He's played against me but don't hold that against him. He plays for Heracles in the Eredivisie, and was Australia's best player in their opening game by a country mile.

Keep an eye out for him in their next game, the boy's got talent.

Not exactly an unknown, but Pjanic was outstanding yesterday. The way he strutted around controlling the tempo of the game, his work rate and his dominance was brilliant. He would be the ideal midfield playmaker for us.

BUY BUY BUY

Daily mail saying we're going for Rodriguez now instead of Moreno.

Liverpool will consider reviving interest in Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez if they fail to agree a deal for Alberto Moreno.
The Sevilla star has been a long-time target for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, but a move to Anfield appears to have hit the rocks.

Up for the cup: Rodriguez is playing for Switzerland in Brazil

Liverpool thought they had thrashed out terms with the La Liga side, who have upped their asking price and are now demanding around £20million for the 21-year-old.
That means Rodgers could turn his attention to Swiss international Rodriguez instead.
The Reds were linked with the 21-year-old in January, but could reignite their interest if a deal for Moreno falls through.

In doubt: Liverpool's move for Albert Moreno (right) has hit the skids
