If this stays as is - how do we see England, France going?

Benzema being out narrows the gap and I think England are quite well placed to face the Mbappe threat between Tripper and Walker. However if Mbappe gets to square up 1 on 1 against Harry Maguire it will be funny as fuck, and one of the biggest mismatches possible in professional football.

Both Konate Vs Kane and Tchouameni Vs Rice are some interesting match ups. All makes an exciting match, which I'd have France as favourites, but do not think they'll be much in it. England's attack is purring and capable of out-scoring anyone.

Looks like it’ll be a great match. Thus far 2/3rds of the French attack is nothing special, Dembele looked like a talented but headless chicken and i don’t think Giroud will scare anyone.

You don't think Giroud making clever runs behind Maguire is a potential issue?

Think it will come down to how well the Mbappe threat is contained. Limit him and there's a chance to win. But if he elevates his game another level, he's untouchable

I actually think France look better without Benzema. Mostly because there probably isnt room for both with him and Mbappe (given his ego).

Giroud ties up the two centerbacks, then you have to cover mbappe.
And if you do, dembele is out right, fine, but the problem then becomes griezmann and his clever runs and creativity. he will be key

Fair play to England, senegal could have been tricky opponents and I'm sure they'd be more dangerous with Mane but still made it look pretty simple especially after early pressure.

The English team are a likeable bunch.
Remember when the press used to moan English team are disconnected with the common English fans, I see that as a massive positive now…

I think you've forgotten Konate is wiping up everything in the air or on the floor.

Foden on Jude:

I don't want to big him up too much, he's only young....yada, yada, yada' then finishes with a line about him becoming the best midfielder in the world.

Yep, don't big him up too much.

Bellingham gets the Roy Keane stamp of approval. That's good enough for me really.

Hope we go all out for him. Hopefully Klopp has been busting chops so hard to get him that FSG decided they needed to get more cash from somewhere to make it happen.

I wonder whether Southgate will go cagey and play Walker and Trippier to counter Mbappe? Back 3?

I think England can get at France's back 4, they're not all that. But, if that was France England were playing tonight, they might have been 2 down after half an hour.

Plus, you just have to get on the Bellingham bandwagon, for a 19 year old he's immense. I hope he has a burning desire to play for us because money isn't going to bring him our way.

I expected more from Senegal today but tbf England were very sharp. Contained risk and displayed quality when it counted.

Back 3 ? I really hope so.

That will play right into France’s hands. Giroud may seem like he’s past it but he’s scored 3 goals so far and provides an aerial threat.

No actually you’re right. I just remembered Maguire is most comfortable in a back 3.

I wanted to make something up so I could laugh at Ingerlund.

I wouldn’t change it to a back 3 now.
If Southgate goes to back a 3 in defende then I don’t see how he can keep that accidental midfield 3 he has ended up with now. Potentially they could be the game changing midfield 3 that gives England balance that they never had before and at LFC we all undestand how the right midfield 3 restores balance to the force.

That is sort of glossing over that France themselves were not all that for 40 mins vs Poland who could and should have been ahead before France scored. They also struggled against Tunisia (1-0) and Denmark (2-1). I've not seen any team dominate for 90 mins yet and with two good teams the game will ebb and flow.
