Maybe I'm being harsh, but thought Ecuador's goal was helped by Virgil doing the stand-off-with-hands-behind-the-back thing. Like so many goals against us this season.

Not harsh at all imo, I agree totally.
I was thinking that since the injury he had he's been playing within himself for fear of missing the WC but now it just seems like it's his current default setting

Nah. You are not that harsh. If this continues, our transfer team will have to consider VVD replacement sooner than later.

Yeah, I think thats a bit harsh. As a couple of the top defenders analyzing the post match game is saying. Virgil is usually closing players down and guiding them into a less dangerous channel where its a lower risk of scoring a goal. Think its a bit of the same here. Great finish though. He had a good game overall and was excellent against Senegal.

People talking about replacing him are off their tits, imho.

At his best, yes. He's been a long way from that tonight but when he's on form he's some player.
He’s not, therefore, in my view. He’s a typical West Ham level player, with the odd 8/10 performance. We overhype English a tad.

See, I don't think he closes the player down there. If he had steered him wide and changed the angle, I might be inclined to agree.

That was poor from England. The tactics were abysmal and they didn't look up for the fight at all. Harry Kane claiming we were just not clinical enough was a laughable take. We were shit all over the pitch and overran in all areas by a side more determined and motivated to stamp their mark on the game.

We've reportedly been linked with Mousa so I'm looking viewed to seeing his individual highlights at this WC. One to keep an eye on.

England continued their protests against Qatari human rights record by putting in a bland boring performance

Trent can’t get even get on as a sub against USA.
If I hear anymore from all these knowledgeable pundits, I will forget he was ever able to play tournament football. All including Joe Cole were creaming for him before but now he can only play for England under long list of caveats. Kieren Trippier is the new Cafu apparently.

For some reason, our own fans have forgotten that Trent is our most creative outlet, why should England get criticism for it?

If I was England manger, Trent would be in the England team at right wing-back or midfield, Kane would thrive off it. What that means for our internal politics, who knows?

We build up a young lad for 6yrs, put him through the biggest and most intense pressure there is then we throw him out in 6 months when he slips below acceptable levels. Who needs top level sports at this rate.

It's a joke. He's been our best player for years. Can you imagine watching a player like that for AC Milan or Madrid and even contemplating he'd sign for us. You don't know when you've got it good. OK, he's had a dip, by HIS standards but, fuck me, it's ridiculous what's going on.
