Ha. Taking an "Elfmeter" is probably part of the official citizenship exam.

I'll never forget seeing Didi walk up to take our first one in Istanbul and thinking "We're gonna win this".

Sheik, are you counting?
I am. We're currently on 4.

There's something reasuring about the Germans being superb.
It's certainly set the standard, but Australia were desperately poor. Anyone would have turned them over.
Class though the Germans.

If I had to pick one player for that to happen to... ok it would be Ronaldo... but if I could pick two Cahill would be second.

Germany is doing very well out of it's immigrants from a footballing point of view.

I still don't think drafting in random Brazilians should be allowed though.

Finally, some proper football! And goals!!! And Australia getting thrashed!!!!! What a fantastic evening that was.

Agree about Ozil, and possibly even about Low, although he's never managed at club level has he?

LNM, are you taking the piss about them having had the new ball before everyone else, or are you being serious? If the latter, it's obviously unfair and should not have been allowed. But I'm guessing it's the former.

The sheep shaggers got a right stuffinvg. Brilliant!

The Germans have been really exciting in the last 2 world cups. Their performances are so unGerman if you can call it that. Pacey, skillful, goals galore and some fantastic football to boot!

Brilliant football.

4-0

And the manager of that side is free after the WC
Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Australia's will be too and he'll be more in our price range.

Is he the German guy you've been mentioning?

If we're going to take a punt on a young, up and coming manager then he should be right up there.

It's not going to happen though.

I don't think Gerrard and Torres would like the German manager, he's supposed to be a bit of a bear in the changing room.

That's the Germany I have always known though from a football point of view.
Schweinsteiger, Podolski, Klose, Lahm, Ballack are always the ones who stick out and have been great at playing passing, direct, skillfull football.

... the other thing about the German manager is that he doesn't like players who range all over the pitch, like Gerrard. There's no way a ranger would be given a place in one of his sides.

On a more serious note, Roopy was on about Ozil over a year ago ... The kid is kwalitee

Between KHL and Roopy, SCM has a better scouting team than LFC

Ozil is indeed a very gifted footballer but on the other hand he's a fucking nutter. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our team.

Low has managed at club level in Germany, Turkey and Austria. Not very successful though.

Why is Ozil a nutter? He has alien eyes, but apart from that, what's the problem?

Ozil looks like Rob Schneider.
I was watching the game, gosh the media over here really plays up Australias chances. It's really annoying, I think we have the worse media.
Makes me not want to cheer on my own country.

Dirk Kuyt is aiming to inflict World Cup heartache on Liverpool teammate Daniel Agger today.

The pair are up against each other when Holland and Denmark open their campaigns this lunchtime.

Kuyt told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Sometimes in the dressing room we've been talking about all the teams, and it's pretty good that me and Daniel will be facing each other in the first game.

"It's always nice to see and play against your teammates, and hopefully at the end I can shake his hand and tell him he was unlucky."
