The logical thing to do with VAR would have been to allow the captains a set number of referrals per game when the ref didnt intervene, much like other sports. So obviously FIFA wouldnt do that.
 
This game just illustrates how difficult it is to break down well organised teams that get 10 players behind the ball. Iceland have done a tremendous job but Argentina needed an aerial threat much earlier
 
I thought that was a very poor game. Argentina were fucking awful. Worst of the contenders so far.
They have ZERO chance of winning this

Sorry. Didn't get to watch any of the games today. Losing the rugby to England at the mo and its that time of the month for the wife.
Just bad day all round... And the comment was easier than removing all the likes I've given you.

The game was poor but cheering on Iceland kept it interesting to the end.

Lazy I don't know but what I do know is that if you are a good player like he is and have played in teams that had Ronaldinho, Etu, Neymar, Luiz Suarez, with Iniesta, Xavi, and Dani Alvez etc. - you are playing in a team with other like minded great players so already you are in an environment where you can show your best skills. This is why I have always had a problem with him - despite all those goals for Barca - when he is on his own in that Argentina team - and despite having Auguero as a world class striker he still thinks he can play the same way he does for Barca and thrive. Maradona knew how to make the best use of his lesser team-mates around him to support him, just like Ronaldo of Portugal has learnt/learning. The ability to do that in a team makes you truly world class.

Anyway that said - Gylfi Sigurdsson - was outstanding for Iceland. if he was not playing for Everton and was cheap from somewhere else we could do with him as a decent replacement for Coutinho's creativity.

Nobby Solano is boss. That time he went to play a concacaf game and the Peruvian journo asked if he gets homesick and he said 'yeah, I'm really missing Newcastle but I'll be back soon' was up there with when Ronnie Rosenthal was asked during the gulf war if he would be tempted to join the fight, and he said he would if they invaded his home town, so the journo said where's that, and he said Birkdale.
