Wilson is attracting interest from both Newcastle and Aston Villa after an excellent loan spell with Derby in the Championship last season.
And Wales Online say Liverpool are willing to let him go for the right price as he is keen for regular first-team football.
Wilson, 22, is unlikely to get that at Anfield as he is fighting for a place with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The report adds Newcastle and Villa are monitoring his situation and that they might also be able to get him on loan with an option to make any agreement permanent for £20m.

Personally I would keep him and use him from the bench. Has decent pace and of course there are the free kick skills. Keep till at least Jan and review situation then.

I don't think he's good enough*, but our squad is small and we potentially have a lot of fixtures to play this season. I'd only sell him if we had someone lined up to replace him.

*As a first team regular, but he might be good enough as a squad member

We don't have enough players able to come on and make a difference (and score from outside the box, when you are struggling to break a defensive block, that is a very valuable attribute to have). Keep him in the matchday squad ... unless as has been said we are getting someone better (which I can't see).

This doesn’t really mean much. Being “reluctant” sellers is still being willing to sell.

I'm guessing bullshit articles like this is part of how Edwards extracts ridiculous sums from mediocre player. So be it, do your thing, but we all know Wilson won't play a minute this season for Liverpool.

Sorry to say, he just isn't good enough. Quite evident during pre season as well.

If there is only room in the squad for one of Lallana and Wilson as a squad player on the left side of attack/midfield then I dont see any logic for it being Lallana.

On a financial level then barring a freak injury we would still get a decent fee for Wilson in 12 months, potentially more than we can get now if he has a decent run of league games. From a player development perspective there is no real upside for keeping Lallana another 12 months while Wilsons ceiling is still unknown, he was too good for the Championship. He may never be good enough to be a first team player for us, but like Trent you just cant know what level a player can get to without giving them the chance. I think selling him now is a year too early, if he has to go on loan to a Premiership team til Jan fair enough but we shouldnt pull the trigger on his Liverpool career this quickly.

I thought his highlight reel at Derby County looked pretty good, but I am aware that more acute observers and more knowledgeable posters have raised questions over his general play and work ethic etc. I decided I would make my own mind up based on what I see of him in a red shirt, but I'm not sure how much evidence I could get from the pre-season minutes he has played so far. He seems like a kid trying a bit too hard to impress with limited minutes, whilst playing alongside unfamiliar, young players and squad players that are also off pace and trying to impress within limited minutes. He hasn't stood out as anything special as yet, while some youngsters have shown more potential to step up, but I don't think it's fair to write Wilson off just yet.

I'm not writing him off based on pre season. I've watched him play for Derby several times last season. He's not consistent, he's not strong enough and his work ethic and defensive abilities are...ok I guess. He's deadly from set pieces and if you give him the ball and time outside the box, the keeper won't stand a chance. Top class left foot on him, but at best he'd be an average squad player for us.

But his left foot is capable of winning points, which is all that matters, so who cares if he does it as average squad player? Compared to a player who is better than him in every other department, I'd rather take the top class left foot as you can work with that, to weaponise it, and use it to destroy your enemy.

You think he'd take a set piece ahead of TAA, Milner or whoever...I dunno. Also that time he got on the ball, rarely given in the prem.

I know we have a limited budget this summer but we should try and tempt Palace with a Wilson + £50m deal for Zaha. Given we are about £20m in profit so far in this window then our net spend will only be about £30m and Zaha (who can play left or centrally of a front 3) would offer us a genuine option up front.

I'd have Zaha. But loads on here are against him. Think he'd be a great signing and would suit our team down to the ground.

And Zaha strikes you as someone who'd be happy to sit on the bench?

Salah, firmino, mané and Zaha are all top quality, I would give them equal play time whilst keeping them fresh (by rotating) during the season.

And when push comes to shove? He'd be on the bench with Shaq

Zaha would play plenty of games. We're going to be playing about 60 games. Possibly more if we go deep into competitions.

Klopp has indicated whatever budget we had was swallowed in large part by salary increases. Anyone know what the value of that increase is? Surely its less than £20m?

I can't predict what Klopp would do with that foursome but I'd give them equal billing and equal game time and try to limit each player to a maximum of 40 starts each to keep them fresh.

According to Swiss Ramble, our wages and salaries grew by about 27% from £208 to 264 million to over the season from 2017 to 2018,. I reckon the same growth, given the bonuses for winning the Champions League final and the addition of players such as van Dijk and Becker. There would be other add-on costs related to earlier transfers for Salah, Mané, Becker etc., one would assume.

Well that spawned an interesting 5 minutes trying to research the origin of "when push comes to shove" ... still none the wiser, but happy that the theory it originates from rugby has largely been rubished.

Of course, I don't even remember the last time we scored a free kick. By the time he comes on in the second half, the overpaid pussies in the other team will be tired, at which point there is always more space and a lack of closing down. Sky telling you the opposite is just fake news to overhype their product.

It works for me on football manager

Depends on if they're parking the bus or not.

Half the teams we play park the bus from the first minute. It'd be nice to have someone who can score from outside the box to punish their cowardice, rather than a superior player who fits into our team and performs all the same old duties to a high standard which ultimately ends in a draw and us pissing away our lead over city.
