Will Daniel Sturridge ever play for us again?

Plenty of talk in today's press that he's ruled out for the rest of the season. If that's the case, he's done with us isn't he?

He's played 70 of our last 147 games. You just can't persist with someone that unreliable.

So incredibly frustrating.

I'm shocked it's that many games he's played, to be honest.

The better questions whether it even matters if he's done with us. A true shame. I really had so much hope in him and wanted him to succeed with us.

Klopp's response when queried on Studge post Palace was revealing. A seemingly frustrated one word answer .... ' injured '

It was the way he said it though. End of conversation and let's move on.

He's done. Sadly.

One of the papers were saying he'd be happy to return to London and West Ham seem likely.

We will have to take anything we can get in the summer. He's one of the highest paid players and he can't play football. Even when he's fit he's behind Woodburn in the order. Hopefully West Ham are gullible enough to take a punt. I think he's finished in the Premier League tbh.

It is over and both his and Ings injuries has been a blow. We have scored plenty but for games were we need to see fresh legs in attack we have not had much choices.

Talent & finishing wise, he's one of the top 10 to wear the shirt ... Fantastic talent, but just not able to physically (& it seems mentally) kick it ... Pity, he could have been the difference in many many games the last few years.

Sadly, it's over for him. Amazing talent, but his incredibly unfortunate run of injuries have wrecked his time with us. Real shame

There's something seriously wrong with His body, I dont see why anybody would spend the big money on his wages he's a total liability.

I guess , the pay off is there should he regain some form of fitness but you can't rely on him in the first team and so he's subsequently a luxury player for most Squad and an absolute gamble

Hopefully not, he can fuck right off. But I suspect that he's not even capable of staying fit during the summer to get himself a transfer so we'll be stuck with him next season keeping our medical team busy on about 150k a week or something.
It wouldn't be so bad if he was in Ings position, where he'd had a couple of really bad injuries that had kept out for a couple of seasons, but he's permanently out with shit like little sprains and strains.

Klopp doesn’t seem one to risk fitness and requires players to get some training sessions in before a game and this is where studge is stuck. never ending cycle.

I remember maybe 2 seasons ago he got injured and there were rumours that he would never play again. Whilst he obviously has made some appearances on and off during that time, he has never had a run of it which leaves me to think that those rumours of something being seriously wrong were spot on.

If he could at least stay fit, I could imagine a decent team looking to him as a bench option - but I think the issue is that he wouldnt be able to keep his spot on the bench, and it a player who needs a few games to get his instinct and touch back.

Someone will take a chance on Sturridge. At his best he was the most gifted English striker around and is a superb finisher.

That level wasn't seen often enough, as we all know, which is why he will be hawked around this summer, but his injuries, his own self-worth and the finances involved may well limit how many clubs are in that pool.

My own view is that, even if one were to ignore the terrible injury record, it seems as if he has lost some of his electric acceleration and pace. So he's diminished as a footballer permanently and will never be as good as he was at his peak, so he can go.

I'm more interested in who we buy next. Exciting.

At least when he used to come back he'd RUN. Now he returns and just jogs around, passes rather than runs with the ball and looks horribly listless. Maybe a change of scene will see him bounce back with a new attitude, but after all the media excitement about his comeback he'll almost certainly suffer another setback. It's incredibly sad because when he's fit and on form he's such a sublime striker to watch, but a club just can't keep on indulging a player who spends so long out injured.

Yeah, someone will take a chance on him. Probably West Ham, or maybe even Palace.
Sadly these last few injuries will have ruined any chance we had of getting a decent fee.
At this point I cant see us even getting back what we paid for him.
But thats no problem. We need a change and he does aswell. If he stays fit for a new club it will raise some questions mind....

I don't think thats particularly fair but its understandable.

The English press don't seem to grasp that chronic inflammation causes plenty of injuries - which don't look bad but can actually be worse than a broken bone. Because there's no return date, there's no consistent recovery plan because it is a day to day thing as to whether a person can do any activity.

The press always come with the bullshit psychological explanations for this injuries but in reality they just don't understand the injuries.

Henderson is in the same boat as Sturridge.

Agger's interviews since he left us are illuminating on the subject.
Look at Mario Gotze.

It is a poorly understood problem at this point. But when you look at other sports and players like Tom Brady, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash who last into their late thirties at a high level - they seem to have grasped that an anti inflammatory diet is required and that diet is also prescribed by the German clinic that performs Regenokine - which is the most potent anti-inflammatory procedure out there at the moment.

It's not so much Klopp as Andreas Kornmayer. He's the one who has tried multiple bespoke training and recovery sessions with Sturridge and nothing seems to work.

She hasn't - if you look up what the anti inflammatory diet is you'll see she doesn't push it.

Its just evidence that we're still about 5 years behind the elite athletes when it comes to nutrition.

How do you know that without knowing Henderson and Sturridges diet?
When reading about it there were a lot of similarities.

We probably still have quite some way to go before being elite at this mind.

How do you know they are ?

Everything published about nutrition contradicts the notion that they are - as do the conditions of both players.

I know what you're saying, but I think there are plenty of players our there that play through worse injuries than sturridge. I've had chronic shin splints for 20+ years and have been able to run and even manage the pain, I've also had plantar fasciitis at times, and ran through that too. I've always found with my pain it's always if I've wanted something bad enough, can I push through it. Sturridge has had loads of these strains and sprains in different parts of his body, not many tears or breaks. I presume most top football players play through some sort of soreness or pain in most games, whether it's bruises/soreness/sprains/strains from exertion in training or the previous game. You've seen players from the last generation finish games with gashes, staples in, breaks, dislocations, even broken necks.
I thought that anti inflammatory diet was just the same as a normal healthy balanced diet? Like making sure you have fibre, fruit and veg, the right fats/oils?
