In a good chunk of the Cty game we have survived without Lucas. Or does Gerrard play on the right?

IMO it's more likely that Gerrard will play fewer games than that he'd get moved out right.

Of course this may depend on how serious Lucas' injury turns out to be.

That Steven Gerrard doesn't exist anymore. The Steven Gerrard we have now couldn't play the right wing role.

Esp in the system we are playing.

I think Lucas will be rested some of the time & Stevie the rest. Gerrard needs to rest at least once out of three matches imo.

I don't think anyone will miss out, there will be a fair amount of rotating between those 4.
Shelvey and Henderson will miss out and rarely start.

Feels good to have options though doesn't it? Aaahhhhhh i haven't liked our midfield since "the best midfield in the world" was disbanded. Very excited to see how sahin fits in and how quickly he can get up to speed in the premiership. I guess with Lucas still getting fitness and gerrard not able to run as much we will see rotation.

I don't see Lucas getting dropped at all as he's our best holding midfielder. Nothing wrong with gerrard's legs so far. But he will get injured as he always does. Also Sahin had a severe injury last season as well. There's no guarantee he's back at that level yet so will need time.

I think it depends on the game, and rightly so. Some games Rodgers will feel we need a DM, some he won't. I think if Silva had played yesterday it might have changed his thinking with the sub of Shelvey, as it was he felt we could go for it a bit more. Some games Lucas will be needed more, probably against players like Modric, Hazard, etc. Other games we might be better suited playing the possession game and having a player who's more attack minded, so we'll probably see Allen and Sahin.

I agree he's not the player he was and he certainly looks like injuries have taken their toll but he's by no means shit. It's about time you woke up to that

It's pretty obvious with the signing of Sahin and the emergence of Shelvey that he won't play every game, and that shouldn't necessarily be a direct criticism of his quality, but more a reflection of Rodgers more expansive approach.
