Bellamy is an un-manageable (sp?) nutter especially if your man-management skills are as poor as Rafa's.
Crouch was very popular in the dressing room and with the fans. A nice lad that brings a good atmosphere in the squad.
Rafa forced him to leave and he wanted Alonso to leave as well.
He bought Keane, dropped him when he was starting to score goals and then sold him without any replacement.
A big failure on all points. Begining of the end for Rafa's reign. A bit like Houiller in 2002.
Their reign are very similar on loads of aspects.
Yep, Rafa forced Crouch to leave by offering him a contract.
Id like to see the contract he was offered.
In summer 2005, Rafa offered Carra a 2 year extension contract without a pay rise.
So Crouch left because he wasn't offered enough money?
Crouch left because Rafa told him he wouldnt play.
Any ambitious player would leave. Im sure the contract wasnt attractive either and conviced Crouch that Rafa didnt really want him to stay.
He was kind of forced to leave.

Rafa4PM lad, keep the name calling for your kindergarden mates, I said I wont talk about our manager's position until May.
If we cant discuss our manager's decisions a site like this is pointless.

A squad player not being guaranteed a first team place is quite a normal way to run a football team as is a squad player not being offered one of the most lucrative contracts (he didn't deserve to be one of the better players at Liverpool anyway)

I don't blame Crouch for leaving to play first team football but it was his decision to leave Liverpool when it really comes down to it and not Rafa's.

So why are you spouting your crap about it being the "Begining of the end for Rafa's reign" then?

It does seem that you mainly only post on here after a defeat, and then it's always completely Rafa's fault iyo. Does slaughtering Rafa at any given opportunity give you as much pleasure as it comes across on here?

Oh you know I think last season was our main chance and it wont happen anytime soon.
Im getting old and I wont be furious after a defeat anymore.
Rafa wont bring us the title and he could stay for a decade I couldnt care less.
All I fear is the consequences if we miss out on CL football next season.
We might be in serious trouble

I've been on here since day one and Koptalk many years before.
Its the begining of the end for Rafa. Whether it lasts 1 year or 5 is irrelevant.

Only future will tell my friend.
I see so many similarities between Rafa and GH.
It last 2 years for Houiller, my prediction is it should be about the same for Rafa.

You're right the name calling was childish, i'm sorry.

Dont report me please!
So no serious response then?
Its the begining of the end for Rafa. Whether it lasts 1 year or 5 is irrelevant.
I'll apologise in advance, but you are just a dimwitted twat.
Only future will tell my friend.
I see so many similarities between Rafa and GH.
It last 2 years for Houiller, my prediction is it should be about the same for Rafa.
You've been predicting that with glee for 5 years already

Wrong again.
It's the truth.

I honestly wish your mum had been sterile.

Talk about football PM, football.
You'll find some lads that will gladly talk about sterility, god and nuns on the General Chat

Ok then, i wish she'd found god and had become a nun.

that's even worse.

Just read page 13. Is the whole thread as bad as that, or is any of it worth reading?
I've read one or two pages after I posted and it's fucking dreadful. Don't bother.

What do you think is the problem?

At the start of the season, it was reckon that this season is a good one for us to try and finally land the title. With Ronaldo and Tevez leaving Man Utd , Arsenal losing starting XI players and not signing that experienced midfield enforcer like so many have 'recommended', Chelsea only adding 1 big money signing in Zhirkov to an ageing squad + new manager etc.

Our key outs were Alonso, Hyppia and Arbeloa. Key ins were Johnson, Aquilani and Kyrgiakos.

Is it simply cos too many players haven't played to their highest standards? Or is it because of Alonso's departure (due to his influential role in the formation and 'success' last season)?

To be perfectly honestly, I haven't been able to catch as many Liverpool games this season cos of studies + dependent on streaming (which is always so lagging) cos of termination of sports channel subscriptions.

Have we played very much differently from last season? I know abt Carra's dip in form. Insua being a permanent fixture in the line up + addition of Johnson may have cos the defence to be unsettled a little. Lucas, no matter how good(or poor) a player he is, is obviously never going to fill in Xabi's big boots. Benitez previously pointed out about Stevie being able to do better too.

I think many may point to inadequate good squad players as a potential reason - Voronin, Ngog, Lucas (not exactly squad anymore), Dossena and Degen (who are almost 'non-existing/contributing' members of the squad) but this factor wasn't really taken into consideration when predictions were made about how we will run any other fellow title challengers close, was it?

So what's wrong? Is it down to the players/management for such a poor start to the season? ???

Hi Binny, good post.

Frankly I was very surprised so many thought this year was going to be the one considering our squad at the start of the season.

Just look at our squad this season compared to last and you can see why it has gone wrong so far.

We lost our best defender in terms of defending in the air and an attacking threat. Sami had a brilliant season last year and perhaps this was overlooked when he moved on. We have been awful defending set pieces this year and have looked very shaky under high balls.

We lost our second choice striker in Robbie Keane. Granted he was a major flop but that doesn't hide the need for a second top quality finisher up top for those times when Torres is injured or not on his game. Yesterday was the perfect example. Torres out and we had nothing, no cutting edge or nobody to drag over the line. Torres won us the game at Sunderland last year on his own and without him we need another top striker. Wash and Voronin just won't cut it. People seemed to overlook the gapping hole left with Keane's departure and claimed we wouldn't need another striker as long as Torres and Gerrard stayed fit and stayed on form. Sadly this plan has backfired badly.

Then we had to deal with the man who made the Torres/Gerrard partnership work. Alonso. His role was so important and losing him and not replacing him with someone who could step in straight away was Rafa's biggest gamble/mistake for me. I've no doubt when Aquaman gets going he will be a very accomplished player and we will go on a long run of wins and get 4th maybe 3rd and who knows maybe even 2nd but I cannot see us coming back and getting 1st from here.
Rafa gambled massively on the likes of Lucas getting us through the first 10 games without Alonso's replacement and its backfired. He also gambled on Gerrard and Torres getting us the goals to win us those games and for all the 8 goals Torres scored it hasn't been enough.
This in itself highlights the need for another striker more than anything.
Chelsea, Villa Spurs Sunderland and Fiorentina have all quiet easily overturned us and that is simply not good enough.

Other factors include Carra being off form, Aurelio being injured, Babel/Reira not playing as well as last year and the fact that the luck we got in alot of early games last year has deserted us this time around.

By the time the business end of the CL comes around I fully believe we will be a very strong outfit. It's just a shame that yet again barring a crazy run of wins means we are out of the title race again before November.

Missing our three best players, Bent's shot going in off a beachball in the goalmouth, and it's October.

Probably wasn't worth the 15 page introspection really.
