I think the biggest sliding door moment for me is the making of the movie “Sliding Doors”. If it hadn’t been for that movie we could have ended up calling this something else or maybe the very concept would never have really entered the public imagination. That moment when Gwyneth missed/caught that train forever changed the way we speculate about football.

That's a pretty sad universe within the multiverse. Hodgson is probably still managing us there as we make another forlorn stab at getting into the championship playoff spots.

Paul Konchesky would be our Andy Robbo equivalent, longest serving player and captain.

What if I went back in time now, and watched this movie, because I have no fucking idea what anyone is talking about.

On second thought I don't think I need to go back in time.

On third thought, the movie already sounds annoying.

I don't agree it would have been a brain fart at all. The fact that Klopp's worked out so well for us doesn't mean for one minute that the appointment of Ancelotti would have been a mistake.

Ancelotti would have been a perfectly reasonable and good selection. Would never have known what we were missing out on.

Torres decided to give the whole Suarez thing a go and bin off Chelsea.

Suarez, Torres and Gerrard

How has nobody gone back to see who made the most embarrassing comments about Dempsey potentially signing ?

I won't shame anyone but there are some good ones:

Dempsey is a decent option and is, regardless of what some of the more vocal posters, an improvement on Dirk.

Clint is easily worth 10 million and all of you who are whinging b/c he isn't a nineteen year old from Argentina with a cool name are becoming very tiresome.

He plays with balls and toughness, something many of our players could learn a thing or two about, he is very skillful with the ball and he scores goals in the premier league. End of.

I'm happy that Brendan enquired about him, he was one of the best players in the Premier League last year. I don't know why people are comparing him to Downing, is it because they're both in their late 20's? Shall we start comparing every possible young signing to Babel, Carroll, Henderson...etc? Dempsey has consistently performed and scored goals, just look at the stats. If he continues like that for us for 2 or 3 years then 5-7m would be a good deal, Adam and a couple of million would be even better. He's got that Bellamy-like, Skrtel-like toughness that you want in your side aswell as the talent.

lets face it Clint would have scored a couple of piss easy headers for us on Saturday, suarez is shocking in the air. Ooo wait a minute Carroll would have scored those as well.

I just think Suarez and Borini are a similar type of creative/tricky/score a few players, not going to get us 20 goals a season

Dempsey didn't accidentally score all those goals last season, he's very good, stop being naïve.

And then when the Henderson swap was mooted:

Interesting also about Henderson. I'm starting to lose all faith in him - he just never does *anything*. I'd much much rather see Suso take his place.

And in my research I realised I quiffed myself because I did a very similar post when Dempsey left for the MLS 12 months after we were interested.

Was I one of these fuckers?

Read a thing on F365 today talking about the gerrard slip and it being a sliding doors moment

Would we rather have won the league under Rodgers, with an aging suarez, young coutinho and sterling and the need for a massive overhaul?

Or what we have now?

I'd plump for this reality tbh

I’d rather have won it then only because I think Gerrard deserved it and it’s been a constant joke for rival fans since and will continue to be.

Not to poop on your parade but these kinds of posts are silly.

Imagine we didn’t sign Virgil, Mane or Salah of Robertson and they went on to have injury ravaged shit careers.

There is no way of knowing how good or bad any signing would have been if they did come here.

Dempsey might have been shite but he might have been amazing too.

What if Souness continued to win the league and Man U never dominated because Fergie had a brain haemorrhage? What ifs mean nothing.

In this alternate timeline, I wonder how many Youtube hits the club would get from Konchesky reviewing Christmas movies, dunking biscuits in tea and go on about that time a pigeon followed him.
