Regardless of what happens on Wednesday, what do you want to happen with regards to the manager/team?

Lets assume the Yanks are going nowhere so there can be no hypothesising about new owners/massive investment.

Personally, I cant really think of a better manager out there who we could realistically get. Ideally, I would get Capello in after the World Cup, but I dont see it happening. Therefore, Rafa stays regardless.

We also need to start getting the youth players like Nemeth, Kelly, Pacheco, Amoo blooded instead of playing shite like Voronin who isnt fit to wear the shirt.

I'm still hopeful Aquilani will have a big impact. However, its too late for this season now.

The manager is a minor problem that can be fixed at any time. The team is the big problem and even after the shameful results this season i'd still be happy with benitez if only he would...

sell these guys because their presence makes our squad look bad:
cavalieri, voronin, krygiakos, plessis, itandje

sell these lot as they're less important to us than their cash value:
riera, aurelio, babel, ngog, lucas, degen, dossena

There's going to be big decisions made in summer, or earlier if this run of form carries on.

This team needs significant investment from the owners, which is largely still needed because of Rafa's glaring mistakes in the transfer market in recent years. If the owners can't trust Benitez to spend the money they put forward - if any - then we should look to bring a new manager in.

You really have to fear with what's happening to our club. Alonso's left, Mascherano's on his way out by all accounts, so how long will it be before Torres & co start to consider their future?

From here on in we've simply got to think about the financials and ensure CL qualification and progression into the later part of the tournament. Secondly we should place more emphasis on the FA Cup this year, a win in that would keep things ticking over. But if Capello, Mourinho or Hiddink were even remotely interested, we should bite their hands off

Root and Branch eh Ross.
Yup.

A fresh start would do us a world of good.

I want to see the Yanks and Rafa out.
I think if Rafa is given ample amount of money to spend, we would not be in this situation right now. I agree that he is not totally blameless, but also I don't think he will get Aquallani if he has the fund for Silva+Villa.

So, I wish we have a rich prince owner with ample funds and see how Rafa perform in one full season.

If Rafa didn't waste his money buying and extending contracts of lots of injury prone players, knew how to motivate a squad and didn't make numerous absolutely baffling tactical decisions we wouldn't be in this position.

I don't see how anyone would trust him with a large amount of money, he's a liability.

Why ?

I think it's a bit rich to sign players with long previous injury records and then blame the fact on them being unavailable for ages on bad luck.

Players don't become less injury prone over time.
Yeah we should have let Agger go on a free.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING.

bellend.

I'm with Rosco.

Not necessarily for the reasons he listed.

It's all about the league. He has failed on five occasions and I don't think he's going to win it for us.
Firstly he didnt know that the money for contract extensions was to come out of his transfer kitty, so when he signed Aquilani he wasnt thinking that was it for transfers. Secondly he extended the contracts of Torres, Gerrard, Agger and Benayoun. What would you suggest? Let them run out their contracts.

You were clearly not thinking at all when you made that original statement.

Leave it out with the needless boring insults.

Sell the underperformers and give youth a chance. We have super talent in the youth set-up. Let's use them. Ecclestone's debut although unremarkable is what we should be doing going forward. Pacheco would have played against the Gooners but for the Spanish FA.

Well that just confirms that he's talking out of his arse again, if he thinks that Rafa has wasted money by extending their contracts.

Yep. At least with the youngsters, they work their socks off trying to make a name for themselves.

Watching Voronin jog around like he doesn't give a sh*t pisses me right off. Rafa needs to stop buying these sh*t freebies and start giving the likes of Nemeth and Pacheco a chance in the league. If they're not going to start getting a chance of game time now, when will they? When they're 24?
I think he has a point personally but only because the board moved the goalposts mid winter.
We're now talking about selling Dossena to fund a new deal for Reina. Thats the rub for me.
Rafa isnt fucking this up. If we're in a situation (as it seems) that we are having to SELL players to pay our wages then its damning. But not Rafa's fault.

That's one of the stupidest things that gets repeated on here.

If you increase the costs of running the club on a yearly basis of course you'll have less to spend.
I dont remember any reports that the money saved from Hyppia, Pennant, Alonso, Arbeloa, Leto etc's wages was being added to the budget Ross.
Rafa got fucking screwed this summer and you know it.
Not one person on here can argue with it.
He was told he'd have 20m plus the Keane money plus sales to strengthen and that wasnt the case.
We can argue about wages and capex all fucking day but the bottom line is he wasnt given the funds he was told he would get. And thats a fact.

You're being a div.

For a start:

Glen Johnson
Alberto Aqualani
Fabio Aurelio
Daniel Agger

Then naturally you've got Torres and Gerrard, but I don't mind them.

We've paid Aqualani and Agger about 2m in wages since the summer and have fuck all to show for it.
