What does Klopp do between now and Jan?

We leak goals and can't seem to score enough despite creating enough opportunities to win 90% of our games.
I personally think we need Milner back in midfield at the expense of Wini. At what position he plays is another conundrum but he is a calming influence (imho).

The next two league games are massive. If we win them then it could be a big turning point for us but lose them and the pressure on him will be immense. And the away trip to Maribor in between them games won't be easy either.
I don't think just switching one or two players will fix very much as we haven't got any outstanding players on the bench so they won't make much of a difference. Playing at a higher tempo wouldn't hurt though and bring back the counter pressing as it keeps some of the focus from the defenders and that can't be a bad thing.

I'd be tempted to try this in the next game:

Ming.
Milner. Lovren. Matip. Robertson.
Ox. Horrenderson.
Salah. Cout. Mane.
Solanke.

We need to give that car crash of a defense a little more protection.

Which is why I'd switch from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 with 2 holding midfielders with instructions to sit disciplined in front of the back four. And yes, I do think Milner's experience would be very helpful.

Then we need to be more clinical, which is why I'd move Firmino/Salah to no.10 and play Ings in the hope that he might actually be able to put a few chances away.

Something like this:

Can Milner
Mane Salah Coutinho
Ings

Also, Klopp needs to stop playing Wijnaldum every game.

It's basically like playing with 10 men every week.

Given that Lovren seems to be headed down the Agger route of shovelling pain killers down his neck just to play matches I think we may need a long term strategy that doesn't involve a central defender doped up to the eyeballs.

It's quite disturbing that Lovren was never really good enough to begin with. Now it's still Lovren, but playing crocked.

Our ignoring of the centre back issue this summer is looking more and more criminal by the day.

How about going back to the 4-4-2 diamond like we did at the end of last season? Either that or going to a 4231 telling hendo to sit there and protect the back 4.

---------------Mignolet
Milner--Matip--Lovren--Moreno
---------Henderson--Can
Salah------Coutinho----Mane
----------------Firmino

Klopp doesn't want to make any changes to his system. If we're so easy to read, mix it up. But I doubt that it'll work because our squad is imo fundamentally flawed.
Shit is still shit no matter how you dress it.

It can be managed better in terms of balance. Everyone has sat here since last season, saying that this midfield three is too flat and they're too similar. Klopp has sat there and watched the same thing and let it slide. We've seen it tonnes of times with past managers, persevering with something in the hope that it will eventually stop being shit. It's a stubbornness flaw and it'll be his undoing if he doesn't stop the rot.

Why can't we see and he doesn't? I just don't get it.

Nah our defense is the issue and bad as it was last season it was better with Milner in it
Yeah but we had a DM last season as well. You don't think Lucas would be starting every other game if he stuck around?
People would be calling for Lucas to play just like people are now calling for Woodburn, Grujic etc.

The defenders are poor, but there's plenty of worse defenders out there who don't look as bad as they're not exposed so regularly.

The way Klopp wants his midfield to work requires a much better calibre of defenders, so in the meantime I'd much prefer we sacrifice that fluidity for a bit of shielding for the defence.

Exactly. He experimented with it a bit in the 2nd half of last season when he was trying to stop the rut and it worked so i don't understand why he doesn't try it again now. We're leaking like a sieve at the back and he needs to change things. Pisses me off because he has used DMs for Dortmund but for some reason he doesn't want to here.

I suspect it's him being stubborn.

We've seen with the way he approached our summer transfers that he had only one target in mind for a position. I think he would like a more defensively minded midfielder (I wouldn't say he wanted a traditional DM as such) but has a particular player or type of player in mind, & until he becomes available he won't pull the trigger.

I'd also say that had we got Arab style funds he probably would buy in stopgaps, but as he knows doing so would risk not being able to buy players of a higher calibre in the future (transfer funds plus that wage bill issue) he won't do it.

The problem is definitely the midfield; our defence will look a lot better if we sort the midfield out. Having said that it's difficult to see how we can sort the midfield out with the players available.

Klopp has said that Alex-Arnold could become a midfielder..........well given the fact that Wijnaldum is a total liability and Henderson and Can are average maybe now's the time to find out. desperate time/desperate measures etc.

I would love to see Klopp take a mad risk against United....................................

......................................Ming..................................
Gomez...............Matip...........Lovren..................Moreno
.........................Alex-Arn...........Milner............
Salah.........................Coutinho...............Mane
...............................Firmino.................................

Tell Alex-Arnold and Milner that they are "Dogs of war" and they are to hunt down Mata, Myktarian etc.

Grujic deserves to start ahead of Ox IMO. He's the type of battler we need in the middle. He would relish the midfield battle.

I assume you meant Alex-Arn? Confusing innit; Alex Ox.. and Alex-Arn and both double barreled. I wouldn't mind seeing Grujic given a chance either. Wijnaldum is a waste of space, Can flatters to deceive and slows play down too much and Henderson doesn't read the game well enough and is not playing anywhere near the standard of 3 seasons ago.

I'd be up for trying 3 at the back although it leaves us with some rotation problems up top as that is where we have all of our options for replacing good players with good players - a luxury we don't have at the back.

Have to say I struggle with the best line up after that but you would ideally want to be rotating Salah, Mane, Firmino, Coutinho & Lallana across that front 3 or 4..

Nothing new I'd imagine.

More of the same old boring repetitive shite.

Then again he can't exactly produce miracles with a fucking useless defence and midfield.

I think he would but obviously he didn't

I don't disagree but we should start with playing our best options in defense and right now, the best option at left back is clearly Milner without a doubt.
