...better late than never.

Great performance by Dirk tonight. I think he deserves his own thread.

Typical Kuyt performance. Worked hard, defended well and even created some chances up front. Only thing missing was a goal.

Still wouldn't say no if someone made a serious bid, though. 😉

Beautiful. Agreed x 1 trillion.

Long Live The Dirk.

Way better than is recent performances as he has been poor. I thought he was good tonight, nice movement, laid on a few chances and worked his socks off.

Big match, high intensity, clever movement, Bellamy dragging defenders everywhere. It's without doubt that the conditions were perfect for Dirk to shine tonight and he played extremely well.

Yup, took 6 months but finally delivered an acceptable performance and play well.

Still did his routine miss of a sitter though

I didn't think he played that well.

What? He played an exquisite ball through to Bellamy which he finished (but was offside), while his movement made Bellamy's goal that ultimately won us the tie. Him, Bellamy and Henderson worked tirelessly last night and didn't give their back three a moments rest.

I swear some people just criticise him for the sake of it.

I'm a fan of Kuyt's and rarely have a negative word to say about him and I'm not saying anything negative now.......he did ok but overall I didn't think he was one of our better players last night.

No worries Pes, he just always seems to have detractors whatever he does, that's all.

Alot of his good work seems to go unnoticed at times, especially when we're crying out for someone with a bit more elegance or pace, people seem to forget the hard graft he puts in helps others play their game. I remember Torres saying a while back that he was a dream to play alongside because he takes so much of the burden off other players to allow them to play their natural game and give them space to play in.

It's the little things with him, like Gerrard a few years back, I can't remember who against but after we scored he made a point of going up to Kuyt and pointing to the sidelines halfway down the pitch where Kuyt had closed down the ball to help us win it back in the build up, as if to say, "you started that".

Anyway, hopefully he's got a few more big games in the tank yet. He's better than Andy Carroll anyway.

I swear some people will go to any length to praise him, that "exquisite pass that he played should never have been played in the first place as everyone in the world knew Bellamy was offside. Dirk first attemp at playing Bellamy through went straight at the defender and then he kick the rebound over the defender to an offside Bellamy, so exquisite. I'm not gonna bag dirk today cause he actually did ok, he was not great and we were lucky not to be 1-0 down when he failed to track back when silva put kolarov through. He did great to set up our second goal but other than that he was just decent.

Having listened to the first 15 minutes on radio and the remainder of the match of TV, I'm convinced that nobody was quite sure what roles Kuyt & Bellamy were given. Also, after the game Kuyt said that he was playing midfield but trying to help Bellamy up front when he could BUT Bellamy regualrly received the ball in a wide position which led me to think Kuyt was supposedly playing up top with Henderson on the right (where he was most of the game).

Maybe I'm not giving Kuyt's performance enough credit because I was expecting him to be more of a nuisance to Lescott and Savic/Richards whereas Dalglish played him as an attacking midfielder - not for the first time I've been flummoxed by Kenny's tactics.

Good to see anfield8 back for his "like clockwork" Dirk diss.

But not really.

I wasn't really a diss I actually complimented dirk for his role in the goal we scored and I did say he wasn't bad today. It just amazes me the amount of credit he gets just for working hard. Downing, Henderson, Adam all work just as hard as dirk but I don't see threads getting started about them saying how great they are. He plays one game in 6 months were he's not rubbish, isn't constantly losing the ball and he actually passes to a Liverpool team mate and " he was excellent today" and a thread gets started about him, he plays a ball to an offside Bellamy after he originally stuffed up the chance to put him through when he was onside and it was "an exquisite pass". Just Working hard is not enough to keep downing, Henderson or anyone else in the team so it shouldn't be enough for dirk( especially if his finding hard to control the ball), it really is a pre- requisite for anyone playing for Liverpool. In saying all that it was a great day for Liverpool and he had a big role in getting us to wembley with that pass for the third goal so well done to him for that.

easy guys, easy. no need for that.

He normally turns up to slag Dirk, Kenny or Maxi.

"Maxi should be nowhere near the first team"

*sigh*

BORING.

ho hum. I thought kuyt was really good last night but let's be honest here, (imho) that's his first good game for ages.
actually I thought everyone to a man was excellent, I can't single out a poor peformance from anyone (even downing).

I'm not winding anyone up I'm discussing the topic at hand and as in all previous threads about kuyt, his defenders go from talking about the topic to insulting the poster.

I wasnt gonna comment in this thread but I couldn't help responding to you making dirk out as a victim who doesn't get the credit his due. Also that laughable comment about his exquisite pass to an offside Bellamy, after stuffing up the original pass, ABSOLUTLEY exquisite. Your bias didn't show up much in that rubbish post did it.

Yes, it would have been really obvious to Kuyt, facing the play and two defenders, that Bellamy was fractionally offside, you biased fucking bellend.
