Hernandez is a top class goalhanger and that's it. He's very good indeed at what he does, but IMO not remotely suited to our style of play and I don't think he'd do any better for us than Benteke has. Long is less eyecatching but IMO a good deal more likely to fit into Klopp's template.

I find it hard to believe we'll sanction a deal to buy another striker (and a 28-year-old one) when we've already got 5 other strikers on our books (Balotelli, Benteke, Sturridge, Ings, Origi; 6 if you count Firmino). Three of them should be on hefty contracts that will prove hard to shift when we want to move them. I'd guess it's probably the same thinking behind loaning Caulker instead of paying for another longer-term CB right now as we have 7 senior CBs - Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren, Toure, Ilori, Gomez, Wisdom - and the first three of them should be on pretty high weekly wages and are harder to move.

I think any permanent moves will probably only come in the summer, unless we've already agreed a deal to ship someone out in return (maybe now, maybe in the summer). Grujic, for example, probably arrives at Allen's expense (gone in the summer).

Probably going against the sentiment here but Ive always rated Long, he makes good runs into the channels and thats exactly what we need.......more the origo/frim type of player than a bentake in Klopps system.

Shane Long is very hardworking, fast, and loves to run into the channels, as the all the clever people say when they're describing a striker who doesn't just wander around the penalty area. It's also often used as another way of saying "isn't a very good finisher".

He seems a better fit for a Klopp style player than that lazy fucking retard Balotelli, even if he isn't very good.

This has got to be nothing but an awful smelly smokescreen. There are loads of 'Longs' to pick from if that is indeed the type of player we are looking for. I hope we aren't.

Rather go for younger, more talented, better players that's prob even less expensive too. Controversial as it may sound.

*Anyways he's vastly better than Jovanovic, which at least is something.

PS I don't mind Long I just can't see him improving us now or in the future.

Instead of Long etc (Prem proven)? we could start by looking at Ajax or even 2. Bundesliga for talented attacking minded players/forwards.

Milik, Klaasen, Fischer, El Ghazi, Forsberg & Yussuf Poulsen (both Red Bull Salzburg).

About same price range as mentioned for Long (give or take) and all with tons of potential to end up far better players and more valuable assets.

I fucking love Johnny Walters. Shane Long is grand. For Ireland I love his work ethic and he'll always have that goal against Germany, but I don't want him at Liverpool. His all round play is ok, but his finishing is generally awful.

His name has some punning potential, but I've made a New Year's resolution not to want us to sign players based on their names alone. It's not really worked out that well. Although I would make an exception for Isco.

Yep, he's an Evertonian and I used to hate him for the reasons you outlined above but he's been excellent for our National team so we've temporarily forgiven him. More than forgiven him actually. He scored some of the vital goals to get us through to the euros and his all round play was phenomenal at times.
