Weekend's Other Games

Good news Hazard is limping but it'll not be a long term problem, Diame stood on his calf by accident

Not a penalty in a million years but Yedlin was unlucky with his OG (and bloody hell is he fast) and Newcastle paid the price for giving Chelsea so much possession.

Yeah, Newcastle can't really argue with that result. If you have 17% possession in a home game then truth be told you deserve feck all., much as I'd love them to have snatched something.

Sadly that is Rafa's pragmatic way. Its never been about getting the best out of what you have but more about organisation based on opposition strength. Klopp takes the game to them using the best of what he has - you dont have the excuses of not trying at the very least.

Whats Mourinho doing? Making one of his childish statements again? Six changes, dropped both the centre backs, looks like he's playing Pogba on the wing or wide midfielder (unless Fred can play on the wing?). Odd team.

Probably a 4-4-2 diamond. Lingard and Lukaku up front, Pogba at #10.

I was wrong, United are playing with 3 at the back: Jones on the left, Smalling middle and Herrera (!) as the right-sided CB. Shaw and Valencia wing-backs.

In attack, Lingard is playing as kind of secondary striker, running circles around Lukaku. Matic holding, Pogba and Fred playing attacking centre-mids on the right and left respectively. United are pressing high with great energy, Spurs players are tentative, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Jose definitely did his homework for this one.

This is the most “English” game I’ve seen in ages - lots of running and percentage long balls but not a lot of quality with the ball. Surprising from two top teams even taking into account the pace of the game and the World Cup hangover.

So many runs into blind alleys and dreadful punts forwards from both sides. Awful game.

That obvious pen Jones on Moura is going my fucking head in
Yeah not 100% convinced to be honest so I can see why it wasn't given. 60% yes 40% no.

Spurs really should be ahead based on the last 15 mins where gaps were appearing all over the United penalty area. Smalling & Shaw playing very well though. Fred looks out of his depth so far. Where is Eriksen, time for him to wake up, step up. Ditto Dembele. Dier playing very well.

0-0 probably the best result for us though ? I guess.
