Weekend’s other games 9-11 February

It’s also entirely possible that the only trophy city win this season is the league cup and finish 3rd.

2 words, momentum and confidence.

In anything psychology is so important and they’re winning in that department.
That can change very quickly. We had that a few years ago until Stevie slipped.

If Fernandinho picks up an injury in the CL (due to fatigue), or Stones has a brainfart in a game and hauls someone down and City go down to 10 men in a game, it can all change.

I keep on hearing how City are going to win every game. Well if so, that means they're going to win the Quadruple.

I can't see that happening, as good as they are looking now. There are going to be games that they don't win within the first 10 mins, and they are holding on to the 3 points in the last 10, as we saw against Everton. Ironically, their toughest game of the week. That's when they'll need their squad players to step up. Maybe they will, maybe they don't. We don't know.

Fergie's much famed line "squeaky bum time" isn't even here yet. If we are within 3pts of them with 5 games left, and it's in and around CL Quarter final, or Semi final time.. as well as FA cup Semi-final time, let's see how City cope. Ideally what City waned this year was to have the league wrapped up by March so they could focus all their attention on the CL. We won't give them that respite. So they'll have to go balls to the wall in all competitions.

It will get especially interesting if we draw them in the CL next round and are the team to deal them a psychological blow, by being the ones to knock them out of the CL again.

Obviously, it's disappointing that they are now the favourites, but we should be excited and hopeful, as we're still in this. I just hope that we are still in it with 5 games left. Every season.

Can I also point out because I sound like a proper Debbie downer in this thread, I’m usually the most positive person ever, that I’ve had a stressful week, and Liverpool historically always let me down when it comes to the league (Gerrard’s slip/Rafa’s facts et al).

I have no issue to the Liverpool fans who truly believe we will win it, or there’s a chance we will, cause there is a chance, and whilst there is, I’ll pray for us to win it, but using logic and not the man in the sky, I don’t think we will.

Stop fucking cry-arsing everyone.

They had a twat of a week, 3 tough games and won them all.

We’ve got the same in 2 weeks, Utd, Watford, Everton. If we win them 3 then we will win the league, and will deserve to. If not then ah well, fair play to city. They passed their test, we didn’t.

Plenty of football to be played, just enjoy the ride. Miserable twats.

So we gotta win 11 league games and draw 1 against teams we know we can beat if we perform and everyone stays fit.

We’ve already shown we are capable with our strongest side.

It’s a tall ask but not impossible and that’s asumming City win every game which I highly doubt they will.

Let’s get back to the mentality of one game at a time.

Every year we’ve gone close we’ve bummed Utd at their place. We need to do it again.

Come on you red men

[article]Son was booked for diving when he looked to have been fouled by Harry Maguire in the first-half, and Pochettino has not forgotten.

“It was unbelievable, unbelievable. When you compare the situation with the penalty for Leicester, unbelievable. That’s what I said to Michael.

“Then you look at Liverpool and the last minute. Same referee. I’m more relaxed because we won. Do you think that we’re a team trying to cheat a referee? Come on, we’re one of the nicest teams on the pitch.”[/article]

"I fancy Chelsea to take points off City at the weekend."

"All we have to do is win our remaining We should really start banning people for stupidity.
Are they quotes from other posters or is this one of those jinxy posts? If the former,
what do you want people to do Hal? Throw in the towel? Honestly like, what is the best plan of action? Should we ridicule those who want to believe we can win it or compete.

Nah he was just talking about the other poor decision this ref made in a similar situation against them.

All the lads stressing and doubting are letting this great season pass you by.

Enjoy it, we're going to do it.

It's more than a great season, this is a title winning season.

In any of the last five seasons, this points total after this many games would have us leading the league by NINE points (not my fact, stole it off twitter).

But yeah, we're bottling it, we've blown it, we've thrown it away, cracked under the pressure. Obv.

The former, yeah.

I don't mind people blindly and optimistically believing we can do it... as long as they say they're basing it in hope... even though I don't agree with that approach.

But when they try to dress it up with flawed reason and logic, that gets me. All the sound logic and reason points to City winning it.

Of course it does but so did thinking Leicester wouldn’t win it, or that Newcastle wouldn’t beat them.

The fact we even have a glimmer of hope with 12 games left is sensational.

I cannot wait for the Utd game. Last two times games there meant so much we were chasing the title.

How sweet is it going there knowing they are the ones chasing fourth and trying to stop us winning the title when for so long it’s generally been the other way around.

Game can’t come quick enough.

It’s what being a fan is all about.

United will provide a stern test. Theyre in the form of their decade and pogba is back to his best. Will be interesting to see. Hopefully Trent is back, as wing play will decide this game for us

Their crowd will likely be the loudest it has been in about 6 years and they probably couldn't be more excited to 'end our title hopes'

We've had a blip, by drawing two games on the bounce. That's how crazy this season is in terms of intensity it really is ridiculous.

Those talking about about we need to win every game from now on means we will end up with 101 points, beating City's highest ever last year of 100, which would be amazing but I don't see it happening.
They didn't have that much pressure last year and pretty much walked it, we certainly pulled back and focused on the champions league with about 6 games to go.

I hear ya but it doesn't really matter if fans blindly hope we can do it or if they decide to dress it up as flawed logic and reason. We are in a title race and it's nearly mid Feb so we clearly have a chance of winning it. Whether we do or not is another thing. To be honest, even at 4 points clear I never fully believed and I've no idea how it'll play out.
It is frustrating having a good chance of winning it and squandering points but I don't see the personal benefit of coming onto a forum to disagree with our fans who think we'll win it. Soon we'll have the 'I told you so' posts and I think that will be a bit out of order. We all want to win the league, I'm going to try an enjoy it even though some weeks might feel like hell.

Nah, the logic says we have a great chance as do City.

It's not blind hope right now.

We go into a load of games with blind hope, well I do. That's usually how it works I thought? Heart always says Liverpool win even though the head is often more pragmatic in its thinking.
My head says City will see it out and win the league but my heart is hoping we somehow do enough to win it. Logic can't explain how we'll do it and I've no clue what games we'll win or lose. All we can is try win as many games as we can.

I won't be doing "I told you so" posts, I'm not Modo. Obviously we all want to win it. Part of it is probably not wanting to get my hopes up and be swept up by the positivity. I did it when Gerrard slipped. I did it last year in the CL. It's not worth it. It's well better preparing yourself for the worst and being pleasantly surprised when something good happens. It doesn't diminish the joy, while also softening the potential blow.

Who would you say is favourite? Logic would suggest City. Anything else is heart overruling head.

City has always been favourites for me since the start of the season and even when we were 7 points clear.

I can't predict the future though. I'm just amazed we have a great chance.
