We need a new GK!

Lets take Butland for example. Even without his injury issue, let's say we blow 30mill on him as you say, and then put him behind the same defence Ming has to sit behind. Would he really be £20 mill better than Ming?
If so, then hell yeh, do it. If not, £20 mill would mean a decent CB

Weren't Ming and Begovic part of the batch of good keepers that plays outside of the top 4 back then? It ended up neither are good enough for a bigger club. In that regards I have my reservations with Heaton or Butland.

I will root for Schmeichel as the only one in the EPL we should realistically go for. At least he won the league and played a big part in winning it.

We need a new CB and a GK in my opinion, both go hand in hand. Read my last sentence and my other posts, I have frequently said we should look inwards for a keeper and externally for a defender. I'm also in the camp that says we need a new LB.

Apparently we have two very decent up and coming young keepers. Probably miles from first team action tho, although you never know until they get a change in the reserves etc and show their worth

But again, he had a solid defence in front of him. Haven't really followed him this season to be fair tho

I haven't seen much of Leicester this season either, but those who have says he's their only player who's kept up appearances from last season.

Ming ain't great, but who's better in the prem that we could realistically get hold of and who would be a clear improvement on him? May have to look abroad, and then there's the whole having to adapt to the prem etc. Tricky

Did Reina have to adapt? Get the right one and it isn't a problem.

If we were looking for a short term 'plug the gap' whilst we consider developing Karius and Ward, maybe Gordon at Celtic would be an option. Has looked like the force he was considered to be when Sunderland bought him for relatively big bucks back in they day before he got injured and released.

He's 34 so probably doesnt have a whole lot of time left, but potentially an option if we wanted an experienced and assured GK.

Gordon won't leave Celtic, he's tried the PL, found it too physical (got Injured). At this stage of his career, and what he's come back from, he doesn't need nor want a payday, I fully expect him to see out his playing days collecting monopoly titles aplenty while playing into his late 30's making up for lost time.

He was keen to have talks with Chelsea three months ago

Gordon isnt any better than what we've got anyway. If I remember correctly his kicking and distribution are even worse than Mings.

Have to go back to reina days of old since our we had a keeper that gave us a good season.

Bring in Handanovic..he should be first choice.

Since Ming has ousted the other fucking cabbage he has been very consistent. I can only think if one mistake costing us a goal and considering hes playing behind an ever changing back 4 and covering up for the likes of Lucas and Klavan I have to say hes been very good this season.

Hes certainly shunted GK down my list of priorities behind the other 3 glaring holes.

Must haves:
CF is a must and we should be going big.
DM next priority look what happened at Chelsea this year. Same team + Kante.
CB because Matip and Lovren cant keep fit

Nice to haves:
LB
GK

My top priority would be a playmaker. Henderson does a job and we badly need him back, but I don't think he will ever be a Steven Gerrard. When we manage to get the ball up to the top third of the pitch, Coutinho and Co. create havoc but currently there is a yawning gap between defence and attack.

I am not sure what you mean by CF. If you are thinking of a big striker, we have been signing those from Tony Hateley to Peter Crouch to Andy Carroll to Christian Benteke and they never fit in with our style of play.

I mean a 20 a season striker like Sturridge would be if he was ever fit or like Suarez was.
They dont have to be tall. Just good.

King is making an impact for Southampton.

What I would like to know is how Southampton get to sign great players and then sell them to us for a big profit.

Is there something wrong with our scouting system?

Sorry, King plays for Bournemouth.

King has been doing great of late, but this is some sort of Indian summer. He's never been a good goalscorer. Could land him a move after the season mind.

Soton have signed some very good players though. Wanyama, Van Dijk and Mane could have been signed earlier for 35 mill outright.

I'm on board with this list of priorities. Officially endorsed.

Make it so.

As someone said (earlier) a swallow does not make a summer and a broken clock will be right twice a day, equally Ming will have good games here and now. I do hope you're right and I'm wrong and he has turned a corner.

I think hes been as good as anyone in the league this year given hes had Lucas and Klavan in front of him half the time.

I think Mignolet is finally developing. We haven't seen much in the way of GK improvements in years but there's certainly been progress with Mignolet. His command of the box has become greater - he's more decisive, and his punches have been assertive rather than the piss-weak hapless misses we were over familiar with. His shot-stopping has always been first class. If this continues, as Oncey says, a new GK becomes lower down the list of priorities than it was at the first half of the season.

It wouldn't surprise me if he turned back into a hapless cunt, though. But hopefully not.

I think the clock has a new battery. Its been running fine for several months.
It's the defence that disappoints me. In Klopp's early days he appeared to make a big difference with our defence. It is a shame that the progress has stalled somewhat.

How can anyone want to go into next season with a makeshift LB again?

That is #1 priority for me.

He's performed well overall. It's not the biggest gaping hole in our squad. Would I like a specialist left back as adept at attacking as defending? Of course! But Milner is adequate for likely one more season.
